| "Can a woman forget her nursing child, and not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, yet I will not forget you." - Isaiah 49:15
"Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, " I will never leave you nor forsake you.' " - Hebrews 13:5
The feeling of forsakenness is something many have tasted in life. Surely Job felt forsaken when wave after wave of suffering struck him, losing his possessions, his health, and even all his children. In those dark hours he must have felt as though God were far away and he was left alone to endure his pain. Yet in the end, Job came to see that God had never abandoned him. The Lord was present in every moment, working through every trial, and revealing Himself more clearly than ever before.
So it is with all who belong to the Lord Jesus Christ. Our Lord has promised that He will never leave us nor forsake us, and His promise does not depend on our wavering faithfulness. A true believer may experience the chastening of the Lord, but he will never experience abandonment. The Father waits with compassion for every prodigal to return, and His mercy is ready to restore.
Be encouraged, the Lord is on our side, and His steadfast love endures forever.
