| "He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy." - Proverbs 28:13
"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." - 1 John 1:9
When an unbeliever (a person who doesn't know the Lord Jesus Christ) sins against God, there is no remorse over the sin, even though there may be some conscience of the wrong doing. But when a believer sins, the Holy Spirit of God convicts the believer of his sin. Our God is a Holy God and no sin is tolerated in His presence. The Spirit's conviction is the very act of God to turn the believer from sin to God. We also see he who covers or conceals his sins will not prosper. But he who turns to God and confesses will receive forgiveness and restoration. Thank God for our sins are permanently wiped away by the blood of Jesus for those who believe in Him.
