"Do not quench the Spirit." - 1 Thessalonians 5:19
When a child of God continues to live in un-repented sin, the Spirit of God is grieved and eventually that person quenches the Spirit only to become a prodigal. Our Father is grieved at our sin and when we live on like that, we let sin rob us of the joy of our salvation. Let's examine our hearts and seek God's wisdom and mercy. Wisdom, so we can discern the works of darkness, and mercy so God can restore us the joy of His presence in our heart.
