| "Jesus said to him, 'You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and the great commandment.' " - Matthew 22:37, 38
"So when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, 'Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?' " - John 21:15
The greatest commandment God has given us is to love Him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. He requires nothing less than complete faithfulness. Yet, when we honestly examine ourselves, we realize that this is the very commandment we have all failed to keep perfectly. In spite of our weakness and failure, the Lord's love for us remains steadfast. He demonstrated that love by giving Himself for us, enduring a cruel death on the cross and bearing the wrath of God that we deserved. His love never fails, never changes, and never lets go of those who trust in Him.
If the Lord were to ask each one of us the same question He asked Simon Peter, “Do you love Me?” would we be able to answer with sincerity, “Yes, Lord, You know that I love You”?
Our relationship with the Lord is founded upon His love for us, a love that draws us near and keeps us close to Him. He graciously invites all people to come to Him by faith and enter into a living relationship with Him.
Praise the Lord!
