| "I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees You. Therefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes." - Job 42:5, 6
"So I said, 'Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.' " - Isaiah 6:5
What was the response of godly men when they found themselves in the presence of God? Scripture shows us that the presence of the Lord is filled with His glory, and His holiness exposes the unworthiness of all who stand before Him. In His light we see our uncleanness, and in His majesty we recognize our smallness. Job repented and humbled himself before the Almighty, counting even his deepest sufferings as nothing in comparison to God’s greatness. Isaiah cried out that he was undone, a man of unclean lips, when he beheld the King, the LORD of hosts. Every true encounter with God brings a profound sense of humility and awe. Yet in His rich mercy and goodness, God has clothed us with the righteousness of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Because of Him, all who believe will one day stand in God’s holy presence, not in fear, but in joy, singing and praising the One who redeemed us.
Praise the Lord!
