"But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed." - Isaiah 53:5 "For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly" - Romans 5:6 The torture our Lord Jesus Christ endured at the hands of sinful men is beyond human imagination. Yet He willingly offered His body and shed His precious blood with one purpose in mind. Though He could have called twelve legions of angels to deliver Him, He chose instead to bear the suffering, the mockery, and the shame—because you and I were on His heart. Without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins. And even if we tried for all eternity to enter heaven by our own merit, we would fail miserably to meet the holy standard of God. The sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ is the only way by which we may dwell in God’s presence forever, when we believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and receive His Lordship over our lives. When we were still without strength, Christ died for us. The chastisement that brought us peace was laid upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. Praise the Lord!
