"All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, every one, to his own way; and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all." - Isaiah 53:6 "After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, 'I thirst!' " - John 19:28 The Passion Week reminds us of the deep suffering and agony our Lord endured. Jesus knew fully all that awaited Him, the betrayal, the mockery, the scourging, the cross, and above all, the dreadful moment when the sin of the world would be laid upon Him. Though we often reflect on His physical suffering, which was immense beyond description, His spiritual suffering was far greater. The Holy One bore the iniquity of us all, and in that solemn hour the Father, in righteous judgment, forsook the Son as He became the sin‑bearer for humanity. Darkness covered the whole land as the Son endured the judgment that rightfully belonged to us. O what immeasurable love is revealed at the cross—that the Father would give His Son, and the Son would willingly be forsaken, so that we might be received. Such love is beyond comprehension, yet it is the very foundation of our salvation. Praise the Lord!
