"You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world." - 1 John 4:4
There are many kinds of fears that press upon us. Fear can lead to anxiety, discouragement, and even depression. It always diminishes our confidence and robs us of the fullness of life we have in Jesus Christ our Lord. Yet believers are repeatedly commanded not to fear, and rightly so, for He who is in us is greater than he who is in the world.
Satan may use deception, intimidation, and subtle lies to stir up fear, but every believer has the Holy Spirit dwelling within. Not even a single hair falls from our head apart from the Lord’s sovereign care. Because of this, we can pray with confidence for courage and boldness to stand against every fear that seeks to suppress us.
Our Lord often reminded His disciples, “Do not be afraid” and “Let not your heart be troubled.” His gentle voice still speaks the same truth to us today. He is with us, what, then, have we to fear?
