| "The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart - these, O God, You will not despise." - Psalm 51:17
"And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me a sinner!' " - Luke 18:13
God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6). When we come into the presence of God through our prayers, God is not looking for an account of our good works. But rather, He favors a humble repentant heart. No matter how bad our sins are, when we come to Him with a humble heart, He will receive us and heal us. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart. We do not need to offer sacrifices to make up for our sins, but commit our lives to Jesus, who took our sins upon Himself. Our response should be "God be merciful to me a sinner!"
Praise the Lord!
