| "Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ." - 1 Thessalonians 5:23
"But as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, 'Be holy, for I am holy.' " - 1 Peter 1:15,16
We cannot stand in the presence of God unless we are holy. God is holy and His presence is surrounded with holiness. No man is holy but only God is. Only God can sanctify us and conform us to the image of Christ. The moment one receives Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, the Holy Spirit of God begins sanctification in that person. Sanctification is a life long process to conform us to the image of Christ. Our obedience and faithfulness to the Lord determines how freely we have yielded to the Holy Spirit and let Him sanctify us. One day all believers in Jesus Christ will stand in the presence of the Holy God, clothed with righteousness of our Savior Jesus Christ and fully sanctified.
Thus on that day we will fully fulfill, 'Be holy, for I am holy.'
