The physical agony and pain that the Lord Jesus Christ went through was tremendous. Even more so was the spiritual agony of being forsaken by God the Father. It was for the love for His sheep that Jesus stayed on the cross until He breathed His last. Our God and Creator was paying the price for our sins and He being sinless He bore our iniquity on Himself. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, so all those who believe in Him shall have eternal life.
