We may never be able to comprehend the mercy and love of our God. Even while we were yet sinners, Jesus Christ our Lord died for us. And everything can be summarized in one four letter word 'LOVE'. Even when none of us deserved, He laid aside His glory and became man and died for us. The only way anyone can please God is through faith in His Son Jesus Christ. If you have the Son you have everything but if you do not have the Son, you have nothing.
