Lee Camp issues clarification
This link from my friend Doug...

Professor Lee Camp has issued a clarification on the article that appeared in the Tennessean regarding the conference of religious leaders on the subject of world peace. Lee Camp claims he was misquoted by the Tennessean, and stated he does not advocate Christians deny or degrade the Lordship of Christ, but rather show grace to people of other religions who may not see eye to eye with himself.

Quote: ""In my lecture, I too insisted that we must not discard what is most important to us. I am a Christian who holds, without apology, to the Lordship of Jesus. I cannot accept any strategy of "conflict resolution" that asks me to set aside that particular claim. I believe and teach that Jesus is Lord of Lords and King of Kings. "This exclusive claim of the authority of Christ thus presents a problem for "conflict management." I went on to ask these questions: How can the Jew or Muslim trust us Christians if we hold onto the exclusive Lordship of Jesus? Given that I refuse to deny the Lordship of Jesus, what can I or other Christians possibly contribute to peace-making, whether global or local? "Here is my answer: Because I profess that Jesus is Lord of Lords, I have committed myself to loving both neighbour and enemy. Because I profess that Jesus is King of Kings, I have committed myself to serving and honouring all people. Because I profess that Jesus is the ultimate authority to which all other authorities must submit, that authority requires of me to extend gracious, generous hospitality to the stranger, the pilgrim, and those who do not see the world as I see it.

The Bible says we are to "seek peace with all men" (Hebrews 12:14), and we are to "pray for the peace of Jerusalem" (Psalm 122:6). On an individual level we may be able to have some effect. But on a global level, genuine Christians cannot effectively contribute towards peace, at least in the world's sense of the word "peace". Jesus Christ said that He came not to send peace on the earth, but a sword (Matthew 10:34). The Bible tells us plainly that there shall be "wars and rumours of wars" (Matthew 24:6), and of course there is the great tribulation period. To work against the revealed Word of God I believe, with efforts like the Church of England in the recent boycott of Israel, is to work against God's own will. On a religious level, the world advocates compromise for the sake of peace, and if Professor Camp did call for that in an effort to contribute to global peace, then I believe he would have been wrong. As we have seen from Rick Warren's example, we need to be very careful when it comes to working towards peace, because we can easily find ourselves in with the devil's crowd

Quote: "Rick Warren, the best selling author of The Purpose Driven Life and senior teaching pastor at Saddleback Church in California, has invited Barack Obama to speak to the congregation of the faithful on December 1, 2006. In doing so he has joined himself with one of the smoothest politicians of our times, and also one whose wickedness in worldview contradicts nearly every tenant of the Christian faith that Warren professes.

Theologian urges Christians to drop major doctrines
This link from my friend David...

Political Correctness gone mad, or just plain old apostasy? A theologian at a leading university in the US is warning that Christians must drop major doctrines if world peace is to be achieved. These include the Lordship of Christ and the Millennial Kingdom. Professor Lee Camp of Lipscomb University addressed several dozen clergy and lay people in Nashville, along with leaders from other religions. Although he describes himself as a conservative Christian, Lee advocates that Christians drop beliefs that may offend Muslims and Jews, for the sake of peace.

Quote: ""We need to forsake the Christendom model," Camp said. "The most basic Christian commitment... is that we say we believe in the Lordship of Jesus. But, if we claim that, how can a Muslim or Jew trust us, if we say Jesus is the Lord of all Lords?"

Lee has of course hit the nail on the head, the Deity of Christ is the fundamental doctrine of Christianity that divides us so markedly from Judaism and Islam. Another Muslim leader at the conference claimed that Allah and Yahweh are all the same God. The same claim has been made by several world leaders, if I remember correctly, President Bush

Quote: "In an exclusive interview with ABC News' Charles Gibson, Bush said he believes that both Christians and Muslims worship the same God. "I think we do. We have different routes of getting to the Almighty," Bush said. "But I want you to understand, I want your listeners to understand, I don't get to get decide who goes to heaven. The Almighty God decides who goes to heaven and I am on my personal walk," he said.

That's funny, my Bible states there is only one way to the Father, and that is through Jesus Christ...

John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

A friend of mine, Sam Jennings, states that the world isn't anti-God. You can worship any god you like and they won't condemn you for it. That's why so many world leaders can believe we all worship the same god. But the world is anti-Christ, and as soon as you say, "My God is Jesus Christ", then you've gone too far. And that is why Christians and Muslims cannot possibly worship the same God. It is an unforgivable sin to say that Allah has a son, and we know that the Bible teaches in the Old and New Testaments that God has a Son...

Psalm 2:12
Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish [from] the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed [are] all they that put their trust in him.

The Bible states that during the tribulation period, many tribulation-believers will be slain for their witness for Jesus Christ. Perhaps the above article goes some way to explaining why this will happen.

Revelation 20:4
And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and [I saw] the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received [his] mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

Solana's address to the many
The following text is a summary of Javier Solana's address to the EU foreign ministers and their counterparts from Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, the Palestinian Authority, Syria, Turkey and Tunisia, during the two day meeting over the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. I thought it would be interesting for you all to read. He gives a basic history of European peace efforts in the Middle East, and states that the EU's absolute priority is resolving the Middle East conflict.

Quote: "It was our own European experience which led us to propose to you in 1995, with the Euromed Partnership, a multilateral approach. We all know that in today's world no-one can flourish alone while one's neighbours suffer setbacks, That is why our Euromed Partnership pursues the objective of a common area of peace, stability and prosperity. The European Neighbourhood Policy assists us in this effort.

Europeans and their Mediterranean partners share significant common challenges that affect their essential interests: unresolved conflicts; the rise of extremism and fundamentalism; the increasing role of non-state actors; the problems of modernization; the risks of proliferation of weapons of mass destruction; the excessive role of violence and the weakening of diplomacy.

Overcoming old antagonisms and resolving current disputes, with absolute priority attached to a comprehensive settlement of the Israeli-Arab conflict, is necessary to confront the new challenges with any chance of success.

Last year, at the Barcelona anniversary summit, we adopted the "Five Year Work Programme". Government and civil society expectations were high. Our societies are asking this from us that that we achieve and consolidate peace and that we tackle the urgent challenges we face in the area of economic and social development as well as of the environment. The scholarship programme is also something that we should bear in mind as being important.

Now, it is our responsibility to make sure that these expectations are met and that all citizens in our countries benefit from the results produced by implementing this programme. We cannot afford any more delay! It is for this reason that I congratulate the Finnish Presidency on the results of the recent ministerial specialised conferences.

The political challenges before us remain huge. Terrorism, proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, regionalised conflicts, organised crime: all these require a comprehensive regional approach towards their solution to be developed by reinforcing our political dialogue. In the long run, we need a Euromed Security Architecture in order to ensure that our efforts will be best coordinated and most efficient

The EuroMed Security Architecture that Solana refers to, as far as I am aware, is the multilateral approach to conflict resolution on an individual and regional level, combining financial pressure and incentives, political reforms and conflict-resolution efforts in one package. According to the European Union, in regards to the conflict in the Middle East, it is "time to deliver".

Revelation 10:5-6
And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven, And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer:

EU-Israel-Palestinian meeting ends upbeat
The two-day round of talks ended today between the European Union and Middle East nations over the recent ceasefire between Israel and the Palestinians. Many nations gathered in Tampere, Finland for the meeting, which was hailed a success by all who attended, despite disagreements between Israel and the Palestinian Authority over details on security and terrorism. The meeting was reported to have ended in an upbeat mood, with a common agreement that they work towards a "just, comprehensive and lasting solution" to the Middle East conflict, and the establishment of the state of Palestine alongside Israel.

Quote: "The meeting brought together the EU foreign ministers and their counterparts from Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, the Palestinian Authority, Syria, Turkey and Tunisia. The upbeat mood this time became evident over an unusually long dinner on Monday at the old city hall of Tampere, Finland's second largest city. "There were no accusations, and everyone explicitly committed themselves" to the goal of a Palestinian state, said Finnish Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja, whose country holds the EU presidency.

Prime Minister Olmert has promised to give up much of the West Bank, while exiled Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal reportedly told French Foreign Minister Doust-Blazy that the establishment of a state on land captured by Israel in the Six Day War was in fact implicit recognition of Israel. Although until I hear Mashaal's words for myself, I personally doubt Doust-Blazy's interpretation. Palestinian Information Minister Nabil Shaath stated that a Palestinian unity government could be up and running in two weeks.

Friends, the events we are seeing unfold before us today were prophesied in the Old Testament over 2500 years ago. I have been commenting on prophetic events for nearly two years, and we have come a long way since then. When I started, there was the EuroMed and the seven year European Neighbour hood Policy, but the EU wasn't really involved in the Middle East in a big way. Now that has changed. Many nations today met with the European Union to work on a framework for a peace agreement in the Middle East.

Daniel 9:27
And he (Antichrist) shall confirm the covenant with many (nations) for one week (seven years): and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

All we are waiting for now is an agreement to be ratified, and a European leader to confirm it. Many nations have been working towards a peace agreement in the Middle East by the end of this year, if possible. The Man who foretold that all this would happen is the Lord Jesus Christ. If He has been 100% correct on future events, what else does He want us to know? Unless we have a relationship with Him, we will not go with Him to heaven, but will be left behind to endure the wrath of God. The Bible says that in order to have a relationship with God, we need to repent of our sins and believe the Gospel. The "good news" or the "Gospel" is that Jesus Christ bore our punishment we deserved for our sins on the cross. He took our place. Now everyone that trusts in Him for salvation receive forgiveness of sins through His shed blood, and when Christ returns those who have trusted in Him will be with Him in heaven.

John 11:25-26
Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

Solana calls for force to monitor Gaza ceasefire
This link from my friend Adam...

Javier Solana, the High Representative for the European Common, Foreign and Security Policy, has called for an international force to be deployed in Gaza to monitor the ceasefire that was brokered on Sunday morning. Already around 13,000 Palestinian police are patrolling the border, but despite this Palestinians terrorists have managed to fire more rockets at Israeli towns. European politicians have already been calling for a force to be deployed in Gaza in order to enforce peace between the Israelis and Palestinians, but now that a ceasefire is in place the prospect of this happening much more likely.

Quote: "( European Union (EU) Foreign Minister Javier Solana on Monday called for the establishment of an international entity to safeguard the ceasefire agreement between Israel and the PA (Palestinian Authority). Solana spoke of establishing a mechanism to ensure the continuation of the ceasefire, calling for intense involvement of the Quartet forum.

Solana hopes that the ceasefire and prisoner exchange will soon lead to the creation of a Palestinian unity government, and one with which Israel can broker a regional peace agreement. It seems Solana is in the perfect position to confirm Prime Minister Olmert's long awaited "covenant of peace"...

Quote: "Solana said he had discussed the Gaza ceasefire with Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni and it appeared to be holding. "If that is the case, then I think we are in a new good moment," he told Reuters. "Let's hope we can get as much as possible from the ceasefire, then the release of prisoners, then a meeting of (Israeli Prime Minister Ehud) Olmert and (Palestinian President Mahmoud) Abbas. "If the ceasefire is maintained...that is a very important achievement and I hope it will make possible to open a new page, and talks between the two sides will take place and Abu Mazen (Abbas) will manage to get a new government."

59 UK schools teaching creationism
Some good news. A teaching pack sent by the group, Truth in Science, has been received and is being used to teach creationism in 59 schools in the United Kingdom. The pack, which includes two DVDs and a teachers manual takes a critical look at the claims of Darwinism, and explores the evidence for creation. But as was reported earlier in the month, the Blair government is not impressed...

Quote: "But the government has made it clear that "neither intelligent design nor creationism are recognised scientific theories". The chairman of the parliamentary science and technology select committee, the Lib Dem MP Phil Willis, said he was horrified that the packs were being used in schools. "I am flabbergasted that any head of science would give credence to this creationist theory and be prepared to put it alongside Darwinism," he said. "Treating it as an alternative centralist theory alongside Darwinism in science lessons is deeply worrying."

A recent live web chat carried out on the 10 Downing Street website asked the British public for suggestions on how we could improve our scientific standing in the world. I submitted a question asking why the Prime Minister thought the country would suffer with creationism in schools, when so many prominent scientists believed the Bible. I don't know if my question was answered or not, I forgot to go on the website when the chat went live, but just a week later the government's head of Science Lord Sainsbury, who was commissioned to carry out the survey, resigned. Last time I emailed my MP Lady Hermon about comments made by British Foreign Minister Jack Straw, he lost his job. I thought that was quite funny.

Prime Minister Tony Blair, who claims to be a Christian, recently said he would be concerned if creationism became mainstream in the United Kingdom. Blair believes that the country will suffer if the UK falls behind on scientific achievement, despite some of the most prominent scientists including Faraday, Pasteur and Newton believing that God created the world in six days. Blair would rather we would study Darwinian evolution, just like our outspoken evolutionary friend, Richard Dawkins... a belief system which has led him to justify eugenics, the Nazi idea that "imperfections" in the human race should be "bred out" through termination of the mentally and physically handicapped.

Quote: ""I wonder whether, some 60 years after Hitler's death, we might at least venture to ask what the moral difference is between breeding for musical ability and forcing a child to take music lessons. Or why it is acceptable to train fast runners and high jumpers but not to breed them," Dawkins wrote Sunday... Many modern eugenics enthusiasts advocate sterilization, abortion and infanticide as well as genetic modification of people at the embryonic stage. Nobel Prize-winning molecular biologist, John Sulston, who also worked on the Human Genome project implicitly advocated the extermination of the disabled when he said, "I don't think one ought to bring a clearly disabled child into the world."

I think it was Dawkins who was interviewed by an prominent creationist not so long ago. When asked if he could point to one single instance where it was shown that a mutation had produced an increase in the information of the DNA molecule, he paused for about half a minute and then ordered them to stop filming. That is why Blair doesn't want creationism in schools, too many people would realize they have been conned.

Romans 1:21-3

Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

Rick Warren's trip to Syria - continued
This link from my friend Kathi...

He claimed his words were misrepresented by the Syrian press. He claimed that there were no recordings made of his meeting with Bashar Assad. He claimed his visit with President Bashar Assad of Syria was not a "Politically Driven Trip". Would you trust a man who is one of Christendom's best selling authors and who pastors a church boasting a membership of tens of thousands? I would have. Well apparently it seems our friend Rick Warren has been a little economical with the truth. In fact, some of his previous statements about what actually happened in Damascus seem to be "Purpose Driven Lies". Joseph Farah of WorldNetDaily has obtained audio recordings of Rick Warren's message to President Bashar Assad, and this is what the pastor says...

Quote: ""Syria's a place that has Muslims and Christians living together for 1,400 years. So it's a lot more peaceful, honestly, than a lot of other places because Christians were here first. "In fact, you know Saul of Tarsus - Saul was a Syrian. St. Paul, on the road to Damascus, had his conversion experience and so Christians have been here the longest, and they get along with the Muslims and the Muslims get along with them. There's a lot less tension than in other places. "It's a moderate country, and the official government rule and position is not to allow any extremism of any kind."

Hmmm... This coming from a man who is a member of the New World Order group - the Council on Foreign Relations - and claims to know more about the Middle East than anyone else? A man who claims to be a Christian, but who sees nothing wrong in telling lies in order to protect his own image? Judge for yourself...

Olmert offers hand of peace to Palestinians
Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Israeli ministers gathered in Kibbutz Sde Boker today to commemorate the 33rd anniversary of the death of Israeli Prime Minister Ben Gurion. Olmert stated that at Israel's declaration of independence, Ben Gurion's hand of peace was met with a declaration of war by the surrounding Arab states. He urged the Palestinians not to refuse his offer of a hand of peace. He outlined his vision for the future, stating Israel was willing to give up much of the territory captured in the Six Day War, in return for an end to violence. Olmert added that if the Palestinian Authority was willing to abide by the three principles outlined by the Quartet (the EU, US, Russia and UN), that he would meet immediately with President Abbas with the goal of establishing a contiguous Palestinian state.

Quote: "Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said during a memorial ceremony for David and Paula Ben-Gurion in Sde Boker, "Should a newly established Palestinian government be committed to the Quartet's principles, implement the Road Map and bring about the release of Gilad Shalit - I will offer (Palestinian President Mahmoud) Abbas to meet immediately with the aim of conducting true and open dialogue." "Within the framework of these talks the Palestinians will be able to establish an independent state with territorial continuity in the West Bank; a state that will have full sovereignty with defined borders,” he said.

Over 13,000 Palestinian forces have been deployed along the border of Gaza to enforce the ceasefire. Despite this, several Kassam rockets landed in Israel just hours after the ceasefire was declared. News of the ceasefire has been warmly received in European countries, with the UK even offering to send monitors to police it.

Quote: ""I welcome the mutual ceasefire in Gaza between the Palestinians and Israel and the public commitments of Prime Minister Olmert and President Abbas to make it work," Beckett said in a statement. "It is crucial that all sides do what is necessary to sustain the ceasefire because, as recent events have demonstrated, it is civilians who suffer most through violence, she continued.

It seems just too good to be true. A ceasefire, talk of the Palestinian unity government being formed and European diplomats, including Javier Solana, the High Representative for the European Common, Foreign and Security Policy, to arrive in the region within a week or so. News of the ceasefire took me by surprise, as it seemed there was no context for it. In Lebanon we had a context - the threat of war, and the deal was brokered by the international community. Here, Olmert and Abbas seem to have agreed it on their own. Or have they? Why the sudden change in policy by both sides? Perhaps Europe has something to do with it.

EU jumps on cease fire bandwagon
European Union diplomats have hailed the new cease fire called by the Palestinian Authority and Israel as a major development in the region, and stated that a new push should now be made to achieve a lasting solution to the conflict. The European Union will hold two days of talks between the two sides in an effort to preserve the recent advances in the peace process. EU diplomats had been expected to agree on a statement regarding the cease fire, but no common language could be found.

Quote: "Given the bleak situation in the Middle East, diplomats said the gathering of foreign ministers may not produce a joint statement, leaving it to Finnish Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja, the meeting's chairman, to sum up his impressions afterward. Finland, which holds the EU presidency, has pushed hard for a declaration "but it has been impossible to agree on common language," said an Israeli diplomat, who asked not to be identified because the issue is politically very sensitive.

French Foreign Minister Douste-Blazy has also welcomed the development, stating the international community should follow up on the initiative.

Quote: "Douste-Blazy called the quick decision a "major" development for the region. "The international community should not remain silent and inactive," but should take part in reviving the peace process, he said.

Looks like Europe has finally found its prophesied-role in the Middle East peace process. Whether this is the real thing or a precursor to the real thing, remains to be seen. But in any case, watch this space...

Abdullah gives peace a few months to hatch
What have King Abdullah II of Jordan, President Bashar Assad of Syria and Prime Minister Ismael Haniyeh of the Palestinian Authority all got in common? You guessed it. All believe that a significant development must occur in the Middle East peace process within approximately 3-6 months, or there will be a regional war. Today King Abdullah reiterated his belief that unless something happens soon, the international community will have a major crisis on its hands...

Quote: ""We could possibly imagine going into 2007 and having three civil wars on our hands," he said, citing conflicts in Iraq, Lebanon and the decades-long strife between the Palestinians and Israelis. "Therefore, it is time that we really take a strong step forward as part of the international community and make sure we avert the Middle East from a tremendous crisis that I fear, and I see could possibly happen in 2007," he said.

It is predicted Iran will have completed its nuclear facility by around March 2007. Friends, looks like this is another one of those "prophetic doors" that the international community will have to pass through no matter what they do. If the international community cannot negotiate an agreement by next year, it looks like Israel will be facing a showdown with at least Iran, Syria, Lebanon and the Palestinians, and all at the same time.

Joel 3:12-14
Let the heathen be wakened, and come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat: for there will I sit to judge all the heathen round about. Put ye in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, get you down; for the press is full, the fats overflow; for their wickedness is great. Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision.

Olmert agrees to Gaza "cease fire"
Sorry I didn't update much today. Today was my 26th birthday, and I went down with relatives to a male conference in Belfast called Mandate. Was very good...

Prime Minister Olmert appears to have accepted a proposal by the Palestinian Authority government to cease all activity in the Gaza Strip in return for halting Kassam rocket attacks. President Abbas had recently stated that the ongoing rocket attacks on Israel, and especially Sderot, which has triggered the evacuation of much of the town, was against the interests of the Palestinians due to the heavy price they paid in Israeli retaliation.

Quote: "Palestinian political sources told Ynet on Saturday that Israel will respond positively to the initiative, which they say is aimed at paving the way for talks between Israel and the Palestinian Authority. Hamas's political leader Khaled Mashaal said Saturday that should the political stalemate between Israel and the Palestinian Authority persist, he will declare a third intifada.

Earlier in the week the Israeli government had rejected the Palestinian proposals. According to the Palestinians, this agreement will see the end of Kassam rocket attacks, but there is no promise to halt suicide bombings, shootings, the stock-piling of munitions and weapons smuggling, while Israel can only look on. For this cause I don't believe it's in Israel's interests to agree to this, and I don't expect this tahdiah (temporary calm) to last very long. Meanwhile, exiled Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal has demanded Israel and the international community thrash out a peace agreement within 6 months, or there will be war.

Quote: ""We give the international community six months for real political horizons... There is a historic opportunity for a Palestinian state within 1967 borders," he told reporters. "Our national demands... are the end of the occupation, the creation of a Palestinian state within 1967 borders without settlements, big or small... "Seize this opportunity. We will not be patient for longer than we have been. If our demands are not met, the Palestinian people will close all political files and launch a third intifada.

Gay rights being bulldozed through Parliament
This is the news I referred to earlier regarding the Sexual Orientation legislation that's being forced on the people of Northern Ireland on January 1st, 2007. I couldn't find a link to it at the time...

If all goes according to the Labour government's plans, "discrimination" against homosexual or lesbian sexual orientation will become illegal on January 1st, 2007 in Northern Ireland. With a rich Christian heritage, the province tends to have more conservative views than that of the mainland, but that hasn't stopped Prime Minister Tony Blair from making laws that offend the sensibilities of the country. Homosexual civil unions also became law in Northern Ireland at the same time last year, also ahead of England, Scotland and Wales. I'm not sure of the reason for this, perhaps the country is being used as a test-bed to see how the law will be accepted in the rest of the United Kingdom. Religous groups have condemned the new laws, which have been rushed through parliament after only a few weeks consultation, and which could result in Christians being persecuted for their beliefs. The law basically makes it illegal to discriminate against homosexuality in any way, which means a Sunday School teacher who tells their pupils that homosexuality is sin, or that marriage should be between a man and a woman, could be sued in the courts.

Quote: "The Lawyers' Christian Fellowship said the consultation had not asked a question about harassment and the decision to proceed was "undemocratic and misleading". It added: "The potential for an aggrieved student to sue his faith school - if they taught from the Bible about the importance of marriage and that promiscuity or sex outside marriage is wrong - is alarming," it said... All secondary schools in Britain would be compelled to promote homosexual sexual acts on an equal footing to the conjugal love of married heterosexuals.

In the US there is the fight to recognize homosexual marriage in the courts, and President Bush has stated he is against recognizing homosexuality as marriage. But here government is pressing it upon the people whether they like it or not. Friends, I dread to think what this country will be like in a few years time, if laws like these continue to be passed. Men walking down the street with men, homosexual celebrity marriages, the teaching of real marriage being banned... The whole thing just makes me sick. Now I know how Lot felt. It's high time we got out of here folks, this country's marked for destruction...

Isaiah 24:21-22
And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall punish the host of the high ones that are on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth. And they shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison, and after many days shall they be visited.

Rick Warren's trip to Syria
I've been emailed by a number of people regarding the news of "Purpose Driven Life" author, Rick Warren, and his trip to meet Syrian President Bashar Assad. Rick Warren's trip to Syria angered many Christians, who felt he was allowing himself to be used for propaganda purposes by the Syrian regime. But the pastor rebuffed those concerns, stating the trip was not driven by a political agenda, rather simply he was invited by the President as pastor of Saddleback Church. But the Syrian news agencies seemed to tell a different story...

Quote: "Pastor Warren hailed the religious coexistence, tolerance and stability that the Syrian society is enjoying due to the wise leadership of President al-Assad, asserting that he will convey the true image about Syria to the American people.

...he claims he was misquoted by the Syrian news agencies, but refused to disclose the details of his briefings with the President. He deflected criticism of his actions, explaining that he knew more about the Middle East than Joseph Farah of WorldNetDaily, not because he read his Bible, but because he was a member of the New World Order organization, the Council on Foreign Relations...

Quote: "Warren explained that he had also counselled with the National Security Council and the White House, as well as the State Department, before his little courtesy call for a neighbour. ''In fact,'' Warren added, ''as a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and Oxford Analytica, I might know as much about the Middle East as you.''

That statement alone should be enough to warn every Christian of what Rick Warren's real agenda is. But nobody could have expected the image of Syria that would be presented to the world just shortly after Rick's departure from Damascus, when Lebanese Christian Minister Gemayel was assassinated by pro-Syrian terrorists. Hundreds of thousands of Lebanese lined the streets of Beirut today for the politicians funeral, many protesting against Syria and Hizbullah's reign of terror in Lebanon...

Quote: "Angry crowds carried slogans calling on Syrian-backed Lebanese President Emile Lahoud to resign. “Bashar agent, get out of Baabda (palace),” one banner read, referring to Syrian President Bashar Assad .

I'm sure Pastor Rick Warren will be regretting his blunder, not only because of the initial outrage he caused among Christian and Jewish circles, but now recent events in the Middle East of which he claimed to know much, have made him look extremely foolish.

I have actually read Rick Warren's book, the Purpose Driven Life, on recommendation by my aunty who's church had then adopted the book. At first it seemed good, but I only got about half way through and eventually had to put it down because it seemed too shallow. That was before I heard of Rick's Purpose Driven Church, in which he urges members to destroy God's pillars in their church (meaning the elders), bring in casual clothing and rock music to get the people in, and get rid of all the hymns. It was also before I knew much about this new gospel being preached, which is more psychology than it is gospel. We're not supposed to criticize other Christian's service for the Lord - God will judge that, but we are warned in the Scriptures to mark those that cause division with unsound doctrine and avoid them (Romans 6:17). Paul said he ceased not to warn the church of Ephesus day and night with tears, because he knew that after he died, false teachers would arise in their midst (Acts 20:29). Jesus also warned us that not all those who say "Lord, Lord", will enter the Kingdom of Heaven (Matthew 7:21). We need to be extremely careful what sort of teaching we listen to.

Solana receives peace prize in Hague
This link from my friend David. Thanks for all the links everyone, I have more interesting links than I have time to write about, but keep them coming, as I will be off work tomorrow and will have time to update more of the site...

Javier Solana, the High Representative for the European Common, Foreign and Security Policy, is to receive the Carnegie-Wateler Peace Prize 2006 in the Hague, the International Court of Justice. Every two years, the award is given to a person or organization that has championed the cause of peace in a noteworthy manner. Solana will receive a certificate and 35,000 euros for his efforts.

Quote: "Javier Solana, European Union High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security, will receive the Carnegie-Wateler Peace Prize 2006 in The Hague on Thursday. The prize has been granted to the EU foreign policy chief because of his incessant efforts towards international peace and security as a representative of the European Union, said a statement issued by Solana's office Wednesday.

For Solana of course, the most noteworthy endeavour he has pursued this year was his negotiations with Iran over their nuclear programme. On the 6th of June, 2006 Javier Solana personally presented Iranian Foreign Minister Mottaki with the six-nation incentive package. He has also been involved in peace talks in the Congo, and of course the Middle East. Solana was the first world leader to visit the Middle East after the end of the Israeli-Hizbullah war, he toured the region again in October and is due to revisit it at the end of this month. It's also not the first time Solana has been awarded a peace prize. On the 11th of May, 2005, he was awarded "Man of the Year" by a Polish magazine called Gazeta Wyborcza (Warsaw).

Quote: "...above all, I see this award as a recognition of our collective success in creating a Europe that is united, free and at peace. Yes, united, free and at peace. We use these words so often that we undervalue their meaning. But only a brief glance at our history proves how revolutionary this state of affairs really is. Poland, perhaps more than other countries, understands the historic significance of this new European order.

The Bible states that the Antichrist will be a great man of peace. Daniel states that through peace, he shall destroy many. How is it possible to destroy nations through peace? Perhaps through subtlety and statecraft, by causing countries to sign away their sovereignty to organizations like the European Union and World Bank, and through agreements like the European Neighbourhood Policy - promising cash for "democratic" reforms.

Daniel 8:25
And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify [himself] in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.

BT: RFID just the tip of the iceberg
These links from my friend Akhtar, and another friend...

RFID technology is set to change the way we live our lives forever, according to British Telecom futurologist Robin Mannings. According to the BT research foresight manager, once RFID becomes mainstream technology it will be used for everything, from controlling everyday household appliances, intelligent product packaging and security. Robin believes this technology leap is the next revolution of the internet, and that soon we will find our whole social lives being controlled by wireless communication.

Quote: "But there is still a way to go before even RFID tagging hits the mainstream, said Mannings. He said: "Things like RFID and tagging are today to do with business but that's not going to excite kids at school. When we start to see ubiquitous computing arranging our social lives then you can see some really cool stuff and it will change the way people interact."

All this technology of course centres around a number. At the minute governments are pressing their citizens to adopt RFID passports, visas and identity cards containing this number. But just imagine the hassle of having to carry a card on your person 12 hours a day just to be sure you can get a cup of coffee from an RFID enabled percolator whenever you get thirsty? How long will it be before people realize they need a chip in the hand or forehead if they intend to live or work in this type of environment? ...not just yet, but we're getting there. The GSMA, which represents telecommunication companies serving 82% of the world's populace,  is working on creating an RFID communication standard for mobile phones. Mobile phones and key fobs embedded with RFID technology are already widely in use in Asian countries, with people preferring to carry them rather than cash or credit cards. Already mobile phones have become such a major part of everyday life that many people cannot live without one. The GSMA hopes to submit a white paper on Near Field Communication to the NFC Forum and the European Telecommunications Standard Institute.

Quote: "There could be wide-ranging applications for such technology. "You could have it as a key for your car - it would recognise who you are, open the car door, put the right music on the stereo, that kind of stuff," the spokesperson said. Such a phone could also act in a similar way to Transport for London's Oyster card, itself an NFC device, or as a payment device in shops.

Solana calls on EU to unite over energy
Javier Solana, the High Representative for the European Common, Foreign and Security Policy, has urged Europe to unite on energy resources, or risk becoming politically . Solana said that the scramble for territory in the past could soon be replaced by a scramble for energy reserves, and that a scramble for energy risks being "pretty unprincipled". He also said that unless Europe speaks with one voice on this issue, European Foreign Policy could be severely affected.

Quote: ""It is in all our interest that we maximise co-ordination in the external area and speak with one voice," he added. However, how far major powers such as Germany, Britain and Italy are prepared to cede power to Brussels to negotiate with energy suppliers, remains to be seen.

At the start of the year, Javier Solana had a brush in with Russian President Putin over the Ukrainian gas crisis. The Russian company GazProm hiked up the price of gas for the Ukraine, after the country elected a pro-Western President. Russia ended up cutting the gas supplies to the Ukraine in the middle of winter, severely disrupting the energy supplies to several European states. Javier Solana got involved and President Putin backed down. But European leaders decided after the crisis that EU energy supplies must be diversified, and this energy crisis must never happen again. It's also not the first time Solana has wished that Europe could speak with "one voice"...

Quote: "In an interview with Die Welt, the EU's high representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy, Javier Solana, offers some suggestions for how the current crisis in the European Union could be avoided in the future. A "possible cause" for the rift between the EU fifteen is the fact that the EU is not represented by one seat in the United Nations Security Council. "The EU is not represented by one seat in the United Nations. But the problems were created in the United Nations." He noted the differences of opinion ran exactly between the four members of the Security Council - the UK and France (as permanent members) and Spain and Germany (as non-permanent members). "Imagine what influence Europe could have had if it had spoken with one voice?" asked Mr Solana. Speaking with one voice is not just something for the Union in the UN but for "the EU as a whole."

It concerns me that one man should be in control of all of Europe's energy supplies. It has been said, control food and you can control the individual. Control energy, and you can control nations. The Bible hints that there will be an energy crisis during the tribulation period. Many suggest that this may be one of the hooks in Gog's jaw that brings him against the land of Israel (Ezekiel 38:12). Revelation also mentions that hyper-inflation will hit the world's economy, resulting in a loaf of bread costing the same as a day's wages (Revelation 6:6). Amid all this chaos, the Bible states that "one voice" will be given to one man who will take control of the scene.

Revelation 13:5-6
And there was given unto him (Antichrist) a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.

Soros calls on EU to promote "global open society"
George Soros, the financial investor that broke the Bank of England during the UK stock market crash, has called on the European Union to forget the EU Constitution and push for a "global open society" of democratic nations. Speaking yesterday at the European Policy Centre in Brussels, Soros claimed the EU was an inspiring example of an "open society". He said the US was no longer in the position to set the world agenda, and that the EU should now play a more active role in world affairs. Soros also stated that a stronger Europe was necessary to counter-act Russian dominance.

Quote: ""The world badly needs a more united Europe committed to a global open society," he stated, adding that the constitutional deadlock of the bloc "should not be used as pretext for inaction". Meanwhile EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana, who took part in the debate with Mr Soros, appeared to defend the constitution by saying "we are at a point where people want to know where the journey is heading". Open societies need to be "efficient in every direction" he said highlighting the overall efficiency gains provided by the charter.

I disagree with Soros, I think the EU is neither democratic nor an open society. Europe is ruled by a group of unelected burocrats in Brussels, who have the power to dictate what laws states can and cannot pass. Last year, for the first time in legal history, British law-makers had no sovereign right to decide what constitutes a criminal offence. The European Union has enshrined in law a basic set of criminal offences which must be adopted in all member states. States that refuse to adopt them could be penalized. This basic set of criminal offences are to be increased in the future. But criminal law is not the only sphere in which the EU has influence over. Also last year, the UK adopted homosexual civil unions into state law, despite a majority of people in this country opposed to the legislation. A Christian friend of mine who works for a political party here was told he could only abstain the gay "marriage" laws, because the legislation was coming from Europe, not Parliament. If he objected to the laws, he was told he could lose his house. Already, the UK is passing legislation which prohibits sexual orientation discrimination. The Christian Institute issued a circular around all the major denominations in Northern Ireland last week, warning of new laws the government is attempting to pass. If this new legislation becomes law, after January 1st, 2007 a Sunday School teacher who tells children that homosexuality is sin, or that sex is intended for married couples, could theoretically find themselves imprisoned. So much for an "open society". Looks like the sins of Europe are coming to the full.

Daniel 8:23
And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance (Antichrist), and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up.

Israelis uncover Iranian nuclear detonators
Israeli spies operating in Iran have revealed that Iran has been testing triggering devices for nuclear weapons. Israeli sources say this information has been passed to the US Administration, but not the CIA. There seems to be a difference of opinion between the White House and the CIA, who use intelligence information is gathered mainly from satellite images, and assess that Iran is much further away from possession of nuclear weapons, possibly up to 10 years. This news comes as President Ahmadinejad announced that he was planning to install 100,000 Uranium centrifuges to meet his country's "energy needs"...

Quote: ""We intend to have 100,000 centrifuges and, Allah willing, Iran will be able to meet its needs in nuclear fuel by next year," Ahmadinejad was quoted as saying. The current Iranian year ends on March 20, 2006.

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice has stated the US cannot attack Iran, due to lack of intelligence on the nation. If the Americans did not clear out Iran's nuclear facilities completely, the most they could do is put back the programme by a couple of years...

Quote: "Rice mentioned three reasons why the United States is currently unable to carry out a military operation against Iran: the wish to solve the crisis through peaceful means; concern that a military strike will be ineffective - that it would fail to completely destroy Iran's nuclear capabilities; and the lack of precise intelligence on the targets' locations. U.S. President George W. Bush and President Jacques Chirac of France met several weeks ago. Bush told his French counterpart that the possibility that Israel would carry out a strike against Iran's nuclear installations should not be ruled out.

And Ahmadinejad also believes Israel will not attack Iran, due to its weak leadership...

Quote: ""This is a media war, because the Zionist regime is weak; we have faced stronger countries in the past," the Iranian leader said during a visit to Iranian TV network Al-Alam. Ahmadinejad's remarks came in response to recent statements made by Deputy Defense Minister Ephraim Sneh and Prime Minister Ehud Olmert alluding to the possibility of an attack on Iran.

According to the head of the IAEA, there is no "smoking gun" in Iran. According to the CIA, there is "no conclusive evidence" of a nuclear weapons programme. But who will take into account Ahmadinejad's "smoking gun", when he declared that Israel should be "wiped off the map"? Does the world have to wait until he decides to make his dream a reality?

Apparitions of "Jesus" appear to Catholic worshippers
People are flocking to a Catholic church in the French Riviera after it was reported that worshippers have been seeing visions of "Jesus" and "Mary" appearing to them. Members of the church state that they have been seeing the apparitions for the past six months. Those that claim to have had the experience have started having convulsions and vomiting, after which the apparitions talk to them. The Vatican has apparently been informed of the phenomenon, and is taking an "open view" (in other words, don't condemn it if its making money).

Quote: "Church-goer Rita Gomez, who helps run the prayer group, said: "The visions usually begin with the whole building trembling in the middle of a prayer meeting. "Then various worshippers will fall off their seats shaking violently or being sick. When they come round a few minutes later, they say Christ or the Holy Virgin has appeared and spoken to them." One 14-year-old girl had fits and began smashing windows, then began bleeding 'pinkish-yellow' blood, Miss Gomez said. She added: "This might sound like the work of the devil rather than God, but everyone who experiences a vision says it was Jesus and Mary that appeared to them."

I would say Miss Gomez's assessment hit the nail on the head. Unfortunately these experiences are not unique to the Catholic church. This whole phenomenon started off with Brownsville and the Toronto blessing some years ago, and has since spread throughout the world and is a sign of the days we are living in. Our generation has grown so cold, they are no longer willing to "test the spirits to see whether they be of God", 1st John 4:1. Thus we have whole congregations being led astray by satanic influence right in the middle of the church. Is it any wonder that Satan is permitted to enter the sanctuary, when we have put the Lord outside the door? (Revelation 3:20). Friends, the "signs and wonders" movement is just the beginning. The Bible states that during the tribulation period, there will arise a false prophet who will deceive the whole world with "lying wonders" such as we are witnessing today.

Revelation 13:13-14
And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men, And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.

The Lord said that these wonders would be so convincing, if it was possible they would deceive even the Christians (Matthew 24:24). Thank God that it is not possible, as the Holy Spirit and the Scriptures witness to us what is of God and what is not. But the unbelievers are deceived, and no surprise, because even Satan himself transforms into an angel of light to deceive people.

2nd Corinthians 11:13-14
For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

We need to be very careful what we believe.

UN calls for end to Middle East violence
Qatar recently called for a resolution to be passed condemning the Beit Hanoun tragedy. The UN resolution has been adopted in a vote yesterday by the General Council, 156-7 with 6 abstentions. The draft was amended to include condemnation of the Kassam rocket attacks on Israel, and "expressed regret" over the 19 deaths in Beit Hanoun last week. All the European nations voted for the document, which will launch an investigation into the incident. The resolution also stated the UN would "look into the possibility" of sending peace keeping forces to Gaza. Both the US and Israeli ambassadors to the UN expressed their disgust at the ruling.

Quote: ""The problem of anti-Israel bias is not unique to the Human Rights Council. It is endemic to the culture of the United Nations. It is a decades-old, systematic problem that transcends the whole panoply of the UN organizations and agencies," Bolton charged. Earlier, Israel's Ambassador to the UN Dan Gillerman slammed the resolution, saying that the General Assembly has been hijacked by the evil forces. He added that the session was a cynical use and abuse of the UN. "This bloodshed can stop in one second. If terror stops, there will not be one single victim, Israeli or Palestinian. End the violence, and Israel never again needs not engage in self-defense," the ambassador said.

The United Nations is one of many groups that have been calling for an end to the conflict in the Middle East this past week. Javier Solana, the High Representative for the European Common, Foreign and Security Policy, British Prime Minister Tony Blair and the Alliance of Civilizations all stated this month that the root cause of Islamic terrorism is the conflict in the Middle East, and the best way to help end that is by finding a lasting peace between Israel and the Palestinians. My friend David pointed out that to "confirm" means to strengthen something that is already in place. Daniel states that the Antichrist will confirm, or make strong an existing covenant between Israel and the surrounding nations. We seem to be getting ever closer to that day when a covenant will be drawn up that will be acceptable to all nations, and will be confirmed by the Antichrist for a period of seven years.

Lebanon endorses Spain's peace initiative
Yesterday Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert stated that he was opposed Spain's offer on the basis that the initiative was not supported by the wider international community, but today, two more nations have signalled their readiness to work with the EU on the Middle East peace process. It seems unless Israel is willing to see things the way the EU does, they may soon find themselves standing on their own. Lebanese Prime Minister Siniora has said that he welcomes the new EU peace initiative, which aims to do in Gaza what the UN did in Lebanon a few months ago.

Quote: "Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora said that his country "welcomes" France and Spain's joint peace initiative to solve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. According to Siniora, the initiative is important because it proves the importance of the Palestinian issue. Siniora added that "the international community must work as soon as possible to establish peace and stability in a future Palestinian state, and to reach a withdrawal from the rest of the occupied Arab territories."

Yesterday the Palestinian Authority praised Spain's peace imitative, and stated the Israeli rejection of the plan shows Israel is not interested in peace in the region. Usually the situation is the other way around, with the Palestinians rejecting peace, and not the Israelis. In this case I have to agree with Haniyeh's assessment of the situation, not that Israel doesn't want peace, but that Olmert still thinks he can do things his own way without any help.

Quote: "Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh said Friday that the European peace initiative contained "Good points" that should be studied further. Israel’s rejection of the proposal, he said, "Is proof that Israel doesn't want any form of stability or quiet in the region."

According to Spanish Foreign Minister Moratinos, the Europeans were expecting a negative reaction from Israel, but that he is confident the initiative will go through. The plan has already been reviewed by Javier Solana, the High Representative for the European Common, Foreign and Security Policy...

Quote: "According to Moratinos, European Union and American officials at the highest levels have been made aware of the initiative. "We discussed with [EU foreign policy chief Javier] Solana and I discussed it this morning with the Americans, but the Americans have the Quartet," Moratinos said, referring to the foursome of the U.S., United Nations, Russia and the EU, who play a joint role in efforts to end the conflict.

In other news, even Iran it seems, is coming around to the Roman way of thinking. The Iranian President Ahmadinejad has sent Italian Prime Minister a letter, stating he is interested in resolving problems in the Middle East. While we all know how Iran intends to do that (by wiping Israel off the face of the map), there is no doubt Europe will see this as a positive development...

Quote: "Italy's Prime Minister Romano Prodi has received a letter from Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad saying he is willing to consult with Rome on resolving problems in the Middle East, a spokesman for Prodi said on Friday. The letter was a follow-up to Prodi and Ahmadinejad's talks at the UN in New York in September, said the spokesman, adding that an Ansa news agency report that Iran had said in the letter it would cooperate with the international community was wrong.

How long will Olmert's will hold up under this intense diplomatic pressure from Europe? I don't think it will be very long, for if Israel's enemies are "seen" to be in favour of peace and Israel isn't, then Israel will be seen as obstructing the peace and Europe will intervene, as Solana said before, "whether they like it or not".

Olmert offers more land for peace
In a secret meeting between the Israeli Prime Minister and US President Bush on Monday, it is reported that Ehud Olmert has offered to give up large swathes of the West Bank in exchange for a 10 or 15 year peace agreement with the Palestinians. Olmert previously commented that President Abbas of the Palestinian Authority would be "surprised what Israel had to offer". His "offer" comes despite the disengagement from Gaza - which was supposed to improve Israel's security situation - which has instead resulted in the region becoming a base from which terrorist organizations such as Hamas and Fatah can launch attacks against Israel. After the Israeli elections, the Prime Minister said he believed Kadima was elected with a mandate to carry out his "unilateral" disengagement plan, even though most Israelis, Palestinians and the international community are opposed to the idea.

Quote: ""The big difference now is that Hamas is in power. And some of the Israeli officials who are examining this idea are realizing that what the Hamas offers in terms for a 10- or 15-year ceasefire is really not very different from what the (internationally brokered peace plan) Roadmap describes in its interim phase - it is just another name for a Palestinian state with provisional borders," said Khatib, who served under the previous Palestinian Authority government as labour minister. "There is an exchange of views happening because some people believe there is potential here."

Yesterday, the Israeli Prime Minister rejected Spain, France and Italy's proposed peace plan as "Spanish ideas", and stated that Israel preferred to negotiate with the Palestinians directly.

Quote: ""The European Union initiative is not supported by the international community as a whole," the officials explained Israel's rejection of the plan. In addition Israel prefers direct dialogue with the Palestinians over mediation by foreign elements "that will only complicate matters."

But I am of the opinion the EU will not let Olmert press on with his own ideas, which have so far failed to bring any peace or security to Israel.

EU gives go-ahead for Gaza force
Well friends, this is what we have been predicting for a few months, and finally it seems the EU is going to send troops to Gaza. The European Parliament has voted on a proposal to send an international force to the region in order to stem the Palestinian terrorist attacks and prevent the need for Israel to strike back. Earlier in the week, Javier Solana, the High Representative for the European Common, Foreign and Security Policy, had stated it was "high time to break the cycle of violence" in the Middle East...

Quote: "The European Parliament passed on Thursday a proposal to send a multi-national force to Gaza designed to pressure Israel to "stop all its military operations" in the region. The vote, which was passed by a vast majority, called for a force similar to the one stationed in southern Lebanon. European representatives also condemned Israel's "disproportionate use of force and the economic siege laid on Gaza."

The Spanish Prime Minister Zapatero has confirmed that the European Union is soon to launch an initiative in the Middle East to end the cycle of violence. During a trip to Turkey as part of his role in the Alliance of Civilizations, Zapatero commented that the events in Gaza had "region-wide repercussions", and that the international community could "no longer remain indifferent" on the issue.

Quote: "The European Union has reacted to the Israeli massacre in Beit Hanoun Gaza where 19 Palestinians, including women and children, were killed. Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero announced that the EU would soon launch an initiative to tackle the problem. Zapatero, who arrived in Istanbul as part of the Alliance of Civilizations initiative, met with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan at his office in Besiktas, Istanbul. Zapatero drew attention to the Israeli massacre and said that they were working on a plan within the EU to prevent more tragic events in the region

French President Jacque Chirac has also confirmed that the EU is soon to launch a new Middle East peace initiative...

Quote: "Meanwhile, French President Jacques Chirac announced Thursday that his country, in cooperation with Spain and Italy, are drafting a new diplomatic initiative for the Middle East. Chirac said that he held a conference call Thursday with Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero and Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi, in order to reach an agreement on an initiative aimed at finding a solution for the Palestinian problem. The new plan includes five elements: An immediate ceasefire, the formation of a Palestinian unity government that would be able to receive international recognition, prisoner exchange between Israel and the PA (including the three kidnapped Israeli soldiers), talks between the Israeli prime minister and his Palestinian counterpart, and an international force that will deploy in Gaza and reinforce the ceasefire.

Friends, I can hardly believe this is happening. After the Lebanon war and the biggest EU force in the history of the Union was mobilized to intervene in Lebanon, it became clear that the international community's patience with the Middle East conflict was wearing thin. When I said that Gaza would follow, European Ministers were already calling for the EU to intervene in the region. And after the Beit Hanoun tragedy I suspected that EU patience had just run out. Now the EU has voted to send a force to Gaza, creating the environment in which a covenant of peace could be signed. The only question that's left to answer is when it will be signed. If the Palestinian Authority can get a new government up and running as promised within three weeks, world leaders honour their promises to tour the Middle East at the end of this month as scheduled, and the EU sends its peace keeping force to Gaza, we still could be seeing a peace covenant on the table by the end of the year. Whatever happens, we will know.

If Jesus Christ should return to take the Christians home to heaven before the end of the year, will you be going with Him?

Iran: Great war to wipe out Israel coming soon
These links from my friend David and James...

Iranian newspapers are urging Muslims around the world to prepare for a great war which they expect will result in the destruction of Israel. Pointing at Hizbullah's survival in Lebanon despite the massive Israeli bombardments, the newspapers state that the destruction of half of Israel was achieved by a 33 day war, and that through a "second battle", the rest of Israel will fall. The papers urged Islamists from Jordan, Egypt and Syria to rise up against the "Zionist regime".

Quote: "The Resalat newspaper struck a similarly bellicose tone with an editorial entitled "Preparations for the Great War." "The great war is ahead of us, (and will break out) perhaps tomorrow, or in another few days, or in a few months, or even in a few Years... Israel must collapse," the newspaper said. It added: "For the first time in the 60 years of its disgraceful life, the Zionist regime - the West's beloved in the Middle East - tasted the taste of defeat, and the citizens of this regime trembled at the menace of Hizbullah's missiles… The nation of Muslims must prepare for the great war, so as to completely wipe out the Zionist regime, and remove this cancerous growth. Like the Imam (Ayatollah) Khameini said: 'Israel must collapse.'"

These articles were published on the October 20th of last year, marking "al Quds day", the day when Iranian Muslims call for the liberation of Jerusalem. President Ahmadinejad has of course previously called for Israel to be "wiped off the map" at an anti-Semitic conference called the World Without Zionism. Earlier in the week, Ahmadinejad proclaimed that the Iranian nuclear facilities would be completed by March 2007. A Russian politician claims that the date for an attack on the Iranian nuclear facilities has already been decided, that it will occur on March 28th, 2007...

Quote: "Zhirinovsky told the Russian radio station that, "The war is inevitable because the Americans want this war. Any country claiming a leading position in the world will need to wage wars. Otherwise it will simply not be able to retain its leading position." "The date for the strike is already known - it is the election day in Israel (March 28). It is also known how much that war will cost," said Zhirinovsky.

Another interesting statement in this Prison Planet article is, that the Managing Director's wife of the famed Danish Newspaper that printed the Mohammed cartoons is a member of the Bilderberg group. Prison Planet speculates that the publication of the Mohammed cartoons was a calculated move to inflame Islamic opinion, and enable EU support for America in the Middle East. If the riots were organized by the West (there is no doubt they were organized by Iran), then I think a more logical reason would be to enable the take over of the world religious bodies, through a system such as the Alliance of Civilizations...

Quote: "The possible inorganic manufactured nature of the riots [to the publication of the Mohammed cartoons] has to be seriously considered. The three most offensive cartoons that caused the outrage were not even printed in the Danish Jyllands-Posten newspaper but were added in and handed out by Danish imams who "circulated the images to brethren in Muslim countries," according to the London Telegraph. It also appears highly suspicious that Muslims in Gaza City and other places had gained access to a plentiful supply of Danish flags to burn in front of the waiting world media as soon as the controversy broke out. It now comes to light that Merete Eldrup, managing director of JP/Politikens Hus, the company that published the cartoons, is the wife of Anders Eldrup. Anders Eldrup is a Bilderberg member who has attended the last five Bilderberg meetings. The Bilderberg Group is a shadowy organization that meets once a year to steer global policy. It is now widely acknowledged that Bilderberg set the date for the March 2003 invasion of Iraq.

I have no doubt whatsoever that the "great war" Iran is boasting about is none other than the war of Ezekiel 38-39. The fact that newspapers are now urging Muslims to prepare for this war shows us just how close we are to the beginning of the tribulation period.

Crudely made rocket kills Israeli woman
The BBC used to report that Kassam rockets were crude, home-made weapons, which inflict very little damage, despite the fact that hundreds of Israelis have been hospitalised and around 13 have actually been killed during the past 5 years by the devices. According to BBC correspondent Nick Thorpe, the daily rain of Kassam rockets on Sderot can be compared to an episode of the Road Runner and Wylie Coyote cartoons, where 100 tonne ACME anvils, TNT explosives and boulders can cause no serious damage, but only further infuriate the opponent. When Israel started experiencing the daily reality of 120 Katyusha rockets striking the country, our friend Nick said the Israeli "giant" started kicking back, attacking "long-suffering Lebanon".

Quote: "The Qassams regularly fired by Palestinian militants in Gaza at Israeli towns have inflicted some casualties, but are crude, blunt instruments - rusty iron pipes welded together with engines and fins in secret workshops in Gaza. What was left of this Katyusha betrayed a sleek, professional weapon - slimmer, steelier, more lethal than its homemade brother. The Qassams mostly needle the Israelis, like pinpricks in the ankles of a giant, taunting him to stamp back with his big, US-issue army boots. The Katyushas are like poisoned arrows. They drive him mad... For the Israelis, the death of its soldiers, and the steady rain of Katyushas, is a national insult - a declaration of war. Their air attacks on Beirut, on southern Lebanon, and on the roads leading to Syria and their constant artillery shelling of what they believe are Hezbollah positions, have escalated the conflict. The giant is kicking out, then landing punch after punch on long-suffering Lebanon.

Well today, another Israeli woman was killed by these rusty iron pipes, and a body guard of Defence Minister Peretz lost both his legs. The Palestinian terrorist organizations stated that the launching was a retaliation for the "massacre" at Beit Hanoun last week. The Israeli operation in Beit Hanoun was of course carried out in response to Kassam rockets being fired at Israel from the town. Israel - it is supposed - accidentally killed 19 Palestinian civilians in efforts to put and end to the daily attacks. But Palestinian terrorists deliberately target Israeli civilians, and this latest atrocity was caused by a rocket fired from that same place...

Quote: "The organization's announcement said, "The organization's fighters carried out the firing of the two sophisticated rockets." It was reported that "the firing is part of the continued firing by the organization's fighters as an initial response to the massacre and crimes of the Israeli occupation." Sources in the IDF said that the Qassam rockets launched at Sderot were fired from the area of the cemetery next to Beit Hanoun. The sources mentioned that a large-scale operation of Qassam launching is taking place on the site.

...but according to the BBC, all this is of no consequence whatsoever. All the BBC can do is compare casualty numbers and use moral equivalence to blur the distinctions between a state that is doing everything in its power to protect its citizens from attacks, with terrorist organizations that actively target civilians, are not afraid to hide behind human shields and are bent on the destruction of Israel.

Quote: "Israel cites the threat from Qassam rockets as the main reason for its military operations in the Gaza Strip. Almost 400 Palestinians, many of them civilians, have died in such operations since late June 2006.

8.1 quake hits Japan, tsunami warning
A massive earthquake measuring 8.1 on the Richter Scale struck the Kuril islands off the coast of Japan this morning, triggering a tsunami warning. Authorities stated a 2 metre wave could strike Hokkaido and Honshu islands and the Aleutian islands off the coast of Alaska. There have been no reports of damage or injuries so far.

Quote: "A tsunami of about 2 meters (6.5 feet) or more could hit the Pacific coast of Japan's northernmost island of Hokkaido and main island of Honshu after 1210 GMT, the agency warned. A live video from Nemuro, a port on Hokkaido, showed calm seas and there were no immediate reports of any tsunami there. There were also no immediate reports of injuries or damage caused by the quake, which residents said could barely be felt in Japan.

The earthquake that generated the Asian Tsunami measured around 9-10 on the Richter Scale and lasted for 10 minutes. The waves that were created by the earthquake struck a dozen countries on boxing day, causing mass devastation and resulted in the deaths of around a quarter of a million people. Subsequent to the catastrophe, a tsunami warning system was set up which advises on the probability of tsunamis being generated by large earthquakes.

Quote: "The Tsunami Warning System (TWS) in the Pacific, comprised of 26 participating international Member States, has the functions of monitoring seismological and tidal stations throughout the Pacific Basin to evaluate potentially tsunamigenic earthquakes and disseminating tsunami warning information. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center (PTWC) is the operational center of the Pacific TWS. Located near Honolulu, Hawaii, PTWC provides tsunami warning information to national authorities in the Pacific Basin.

Wars and rumours of wars
Somalis aided Hizbullah in war against Israel
Javier Solana, the High Representative for the European Common, Foreign and Security Policy, has decried Somalia's slide into civil war, and urged the Union of Islamic Courts and external regional powers to refrain from using military intervention, and work with the political process in the country. Earlier in the year, an Islamic militia, called the Union of Islamic Courts (not courts in the sense that we understand, but "bounty hunters" that implement Sharia law) took control of the capital Mogadishu.

Quote: "Solana and Michel called on Somalia's transitional government and the Union of Islamic Courts (UIC) "to establish a conducive environment for the progress of the political process." They said they "appeal to the UIC to fully respect the security of Somalia's neighbours and urge all regional partners to refrain from military intervention in Somalia and to foster the ongoing inter-Somali dialogue.

After the terrorists took control of the capital, the BBC put a positive spin on the event, stating that the group just wanted to clamp down on pornography, drugs and alcohol, and that residents of Mogadishu were now pleased to enjoy law and order. But when a Swedish journalist was shot dead for no reason at a UIC rally, the BBC soon changed its tune. SomaliaWatch has been warning for over five years that the nation was on the verge of an Islamic coup, stating that Islamic clerics were being radicalised by extremists and almost every mosque had fallen under their power. And now it has been revealed how. Around 10 nations, including Iran and Syria, have been actively involved in supporting the overthrow of Somalia, and had even recruited 720 Islamic fighters to join the war against Israel in Lebanon. According to the UN report, at least 600 are still in Lebanon, receiving advanced training from Hizbullah.

Quote: "Over 700 Somali fighters joined Hizbullah in its war against Israel this past summer, a United Nations report revealed. According to the report, quoted by the New York Times, Hizbullah provided the Islamist Somali militias with training and weapons, through Iran and Syria, in exchange for their assistance. The report also said that Iran sought to trade arms for uranium from Somalia to further its nuclear ambitions, though it does not say whether Iran succeeded, the Times reported.

Panel: Israel not ready for killer earthquake
A panel of geologists have warned that Israel is not prepared for a major earthquake in the Middle East, in a meeting in Ashdod today. The experts said that Israeli authorities were not equipped to deal with the aftermath of such an event, which could leave up to 16,000 dead and hundreds of thousands homeless. In September, an earthquake measuring around 4.5 on the Richter Scale hit a fault line in the Jordan valley, that also runs through the Mount of Olives. Also in October of last year, another earthquake was felt on the eve of the Jewish New Year, Rosh HaShana. On the day previous to this, Israelis also witnessed a total lunar eclipse.

Quote: "National Infrastructure Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer said the necessary measures are low on the budgetary agenda, and thus cost prohibitive at the present time. "Estimations show that thousands could be affected in the event of an earthquake, but until a disaster does occur, it is unlikely measures will be considered in budget decisions," Ben-Eliezer said. Three earthquakes in the 4 to 4.5 range of the Richter scale in August and September caused no injury and only slight damages. Israel is positioned along a major fault line running through the Dead Sea Basin, and while the country has not faced a high-magnitude earthquake since the early 20th century, authorities have warned that the "big one," is due.

The Bible mentions several earthquakes that are to strike Israel and the world during the tribulation period. In the middle of the tribulation period after the resurrection of the two witnesses, an earthquake will strike Jerusalem resulting in the destruction of a tenth part of the city and leaving 7,000 dead... So it seems the geologists estimates aren't too far wrong, a big one is due and it will leave thousands dead.

Revelation 11:13
And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven.

One earthquake will strike Babylon near the end of the seven year period, splitting the city in three parts. The earthquake will be so great that it will shake the whole earth, as was witnessed during the Asian earthquake in December 2004, and all the cities of the nations will fall...

Revelation 16:18
And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, [and] so great. And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath.

Isaiah 24:19-20
The earth is utterly broken down, the earth is clean dissolved, the earth is moved exceedingly. The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall, and not rise again.

And finally, another earthquake will hit the Jordan valley at the return of Yeshua HaMashiach to the Mount of Olives, splitting the mountain in two, providing an escape route to the Israelis from the onslaught of the Antichrist...

Zechariah 14:4-5
And his (Yeshua) feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which [is] before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, [and there shall be] a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south. And ye shall flee [to] the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the LORD my God shall come, [and] all the saints with thee.

Praise God that those who have trusted in Christ for salvation will have the joy of being with Him on that day, when Christ's enemies are finally put under His feet (Psalm 110:1). Today I am writing about these things, but someday I will be witnessing this for myself.

Blair calls for solution to Israeli-Palestinian conflict
British Prime Minister Tony Blair echoed the calls made by the Alliance of Civilizations yesterday, when he stated that the best place to start with the conflict in the Middle East was with the Israeli-Palestinian problem. The Prime Minister had previously stated that pressure should be put on Iran and Syria in order to achieve their co-operation in peace negotiations, but he has clarified his thoughts that efforts must be made to achieve a peace treaty between Israel and the Palestinians, then Lebanon and then the rest of the region. The Prime Minister spoke as he met with other EU leaders in London

Quote: ""There is a fundamental misunderstanding that this (strategy in the Middle East) is about changing policy on Syria and Iran ... in any event that is not where we start." "On the contrary, a whole-region policy should start with Israel/Palestine. That is the core. We should then make progress on Lebanon. We should unite all moderate Arab and Muslim voices behind a push for peace in those countries but also in Iraq," he said.

The "whole-region" policy of course being what is prophesied in the book of Daniel, that a covenant shall be confirmed with "many" nations for seven years (Daniel 9:27). In other news, Hamas and Fatah have finally agreed on a possible candidate for the new Palestinian Authority Prime Minister, and talks are also underway in Jordan in regard to the release of Corporal Gilad Shalit. But it seems there is still disagreement between the EU and the Palestinians over the recognition of Israel's right to exist, a condition that was placed on Hamas after they took control of the Palestinian Authority. Hamas has stated that the unity government will not and is not required to recognize Israel, and according to the 18 point National Reconciliation Document, they are right.

Quote: "Moussa Abu Marzouk, deputy to the Damascus-based Hamas political bureau leader Khaled Mashaal, said Monday night that the planned Palestinian unity government would not recognize Israel and was not required to. Earlier, the European Union reiterated demands that any Palestinian unity government would have to recognize Israel's right to exist, renounce violence, and engage in new peace talks.

Solana calls for new PA roadmap to peace
Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert shot down an earlier proposal for an international peace conference on the Middle East, during his visit to the United States today. Hamas had announced it would accept the proposal for a conference, which was put forward by Egypt, and which would have included delegates from the UN, the Arab world and Israel.

Quote: "The prime minister said that his stance against an international peace convention was backed by the American president. "There will be no international convention on the Palestinian issue which will replace direct negotiations," Olmert said, quoting Bush. "If a situation can be created in which moderate countries will encourage the Palestinians to enter negotiations with Israel, I will view it positively and will be very pleased," he added.

I half-expected this to happen, as previous peace conventions have ended up becoming slagging matches against Israel. And in any case, it will be the leader of the European Union that will confirm the peace agreement in the Middle East. On that point, Javier Solana, the High Representative for the EU's Common, Foreign and Security Policy, has called for the creation of a "new roadmap" that would enable the EU to negotiate with the Palestinians. Last month Javier Solana's former advisor and Spain's current Foreign Minister Miguel Moratinos proposed the creation of a new broader roadmap to peace, which would include countries such as Iran. To which Solana replied that the "roadmap", as far as he was concerned, was still viable.

Quote: "European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana said Monday he hoped that "there will be a new truth, a new roadmap that will allow the international community to cooperate with the Palestinian authorities." Solana made the comments to reporters as he arrived for a meeting with EU foreign ministers in Brussels.

Exactly what the goal of this "new roadmap" is, I don't know. Perhaps the EU feels frustrated on the lack of progress on the current roadmap, and hope that negotiations between the Palestinians and the rest of the world might speed the process up a little. That frustration was evident today as European Ministers met in Brussels and urged the creation of a new Palestinian unity government as soon as possible...

Quote: "Benita Ferrero-Waldner, the EU's external relations commissioner, told reporters the 25-nation bloc was increasingly concerned about the growing number of civilian casualties in Israeli-Palestinian violence. "All sides must exercise maximum restraint," she said. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas must be encouraged in his struggle to forge a unity government including members of the Hamas militant group and the more moderate Fatah movement, she said. "Those seeking a new government need our support and a calm environment," said Ferrero-Waldner, adding: "Let's hope they have a good government with which we can work." However, contacts with a new Palestinian Authority would only be established after scrutiny of its political programme, she said.

New World Order
AoC calls for end to Israeli Palestinian conflict
The Alliance of Civilizations, a panel of prominent world religious leaders, politicians and intellectuals, has presented a 39 page report to former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan regarding the ever-increasing culture gap between East and West. The report states that the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians is the chief cause of tensions between Islam and the West, and that if the world wants to bridge this culture gap, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is the best place to start.

Quote: "4.4 The partition of Palestine by the United Nations in 1947, envisaging the establishment of two states - Palestine and Israel - with a special status for Jerusalem, led to the establishment of the state of Israel in 1948, beginning a chain of events that continues to be one of the most torturous in relations between Western and Muslim societies. Israel's continuing occupation of Palestinian and other Arab territories and the unresolved status of Jerusalem - a holy city for Muslims and Christians as well as Jews - have persisted with the perceived acquiesance of Western governments and thus are primary causes of resentment and anger in the Muslim world towards Western nations. This occupation has been perceived in the Muslim world as a form of colonialism and has led many to believe, rightly or wrongly, that Israel is in collusion with "the West". These resentments and perceptions were further exacerbated by Israel's disproportionate retaliatory actions in Gaza and Lebanon.

Zechariah 12:3
And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.

A message sent on behalf of Kofi Annan stated that religion is not the root cause of the culture clash, but the problem lies with the adherents of each religion and how they behave toward each other. The report recommends that a Global Youth Alliance be set up which would help young people contribute to the implementation of these proposals, that student exchange programmes should be started, a network of religious websites should be created to link students with "moderate" religious teachers, along with a number of funding schemes, government programmes and media regulations, which would help to re-educate the general public.

Blair calls for pressure on Iran and Syria
Following yesterdays news about Palestinian efforts to form a national unity government by the end of November, along with EU and British politicians making a concerted push for a regional peace agreement in the coming weeks, Prime Minister Blair is expected today to call for pressure to be put on Iran and Syria to make positive contributions to peace in the region. Tony Blair recently stated that he believed Syrian involvement could be a key to achieving peace, due to the Hamas leadership being based in Damascus, and Syrian support for Hizbullah and other terrorist organizations operating in the Middle East.

Quote: "A broad strategy for the region must include bringing peace to Palestine and Lebanon, Blair will say. Blair has made Middle East peace a key goal of his last months in office. He is expected to step down by mid-2007. The strategy would make clear "to Syria and Iran the basis on which they can help the peaceful development of the Middle East rather than hinder it, and the consequences of not doing so," the spokeswoman added.

I think it was Blair who also recently stated that achieving peace between Israel and the Palestinians would have a knock-on effect on problems in the rest of the region. The Bible states that the covenant that will be confirmed by the Antichrist will be made with many nations, and its becoming clearer who those nations are, and why they will be involved.

Solana calls for end to bloodshed in Middle East
This link from my friend David...

David just sent me a very interesting link that confirms my thoughts in the previous post, that the EU had now realized that the conflict cannot be left to the Israelis and Palestinians to sort out by themselves, and that the EU will push the unity government as the basis for a new peace agreement in the Middle East. Javier Solana, the High Representative for the European Common, Foreign and Security Policy, has called for the cycle of violence between Israel and the Palestinians to be broken, and also called for the support to be given to Abbas in forming the new unity government...

Quote: ""I deplore the Israeli military operation carried out last night in Beit Hanoun, which has resulted in the deaths of 18 people, mostly civilians," Solana said in a statement. "It is high time to break the cycle of violence that I condemn in the strongest terms." He said these military operations must be halted. "We must give a chance to the process of reconciliation between Palestinians. President (Mahmoud) Abbas must be fully supported in his efforts to form a new government."

Romans 13:11

PA accepts Egyptian peace conference with Israel
Friends, this is the news I was waiting for to appear today. I was going to report on the Palestinian unity government this morning, but I held off until something substantial came in. You see, President Abbas stated that a unity government could be formed within three weeks. We also had the news that Israeli Prime Minister Olmert was preparing to meet Abbas, in order to boost his chances in forming a government. Previous to this we had the announcement that British Prime Minister Blair was intending to tour the Middle East at the end of November. Before that we had the news that half a dozen delegations of EU Foreign Ministers were secretly visiting Syria, trying to jolt Assad into joining the peace process. And again previous to that, we had the announcement that Javier Solana, the High Representative for the European Common, Foreign and Security Policy, was intending to take a second tour the region at the end of November. My suspicions are that something very big is about to happen in the Middle East, possibly before Christmas. Earlier in the year, I had predicted that the EU would be one of the major backers of a Palestinian unity government. This morning, news came through that tomorrow, EU Ministers are expected to officially endorse the creation of a PA unity government...

Quote: "European Union foreign ministers are expected Monday to reiterate their support for the efforts of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to form a unity government with Hamas amid fears of increased factional violence in the Gaza Strip. The EU ministers were to issue a declaration urging reconciliation between Hamas and Abbas' Fatah movement. Abbas said Saturday he hoped a united government could be formed by the end of the month leading to an end of the international aid boycott imposed when Hamas took over the government in March.

But what got my attention tonight was news that Hamas has accepted an Egyptian initiative calling for a peace conference to be held between the UN, the Palestinians and the Israelis. Especially considering the developments of recent days - with the Beit Hanoun tragedy, and Hamas' resolute refusal to recognize Israel's right to exist, it is surprising that Hamas is even willing to consider attending a peace conference with Israel. Even Prime Minister Haniyeh's willingness to step down for the sake of the Palestinian people is a considerable change of tact.

Quote: "Zahar, of the ruling Hamas party, endorsed a statement by Arab foreign ministers calling for the peace conference during a meeting in Cairo, said the diplomats, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media. “The ministers call to convene a peace conference attended by Arab parties, Israel and the permanent members of the UN Security Council in order to reach a just and comprehensive settlement to the Arab-Israeli conflict on all tracks according to international resolutions and the principal of ‘land for peace’,” the statement said.

Now I don't know whether anything will come of this conference, or even if Israel will agree to it. But I feel something major is going on in the Middle East right now, and that soon after Abbas announces his unity government, I believe we can expect a massive push for a regional peace agreement. I think the EU has realized that they cannot leave Israel and the Palestinians to fight it out themselves, that if there is going to be peace, it will have to be mediated.

Daniel 9:27
And he (Antichrist) shall confirm the covenant with many (nations) for one week (7 years): and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

Nazi party gathers in Berlin on armistice day
Thousands of people across the world gathered today on Remembrance Sunday, to remember the fallen in the first and second world wars. On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, the guns in Europe fell silent, and the Allied forces achieved a great victory over Nazi fascism. As then British Prime Minister Winston Churchill said, never was so much owed by so many to so few. But who would have thought that 61 years after the war ended, the scourge of Nazism would once again be threatening Europe? The German Supreme Court gave the go ahead for a Neo-Nazi party in Germany to hold an official function in a town hall in Berlin yesterday. Over 250 delegates were invited from across Europe, and another 250 guests packed the convention. The arriving attendees were given a police escort to the event, and were met by protestors outside the hall shouting, "Nazis, go home".

Quote: ""One day we will control this country, and not from some remote town, but from Berlin," declared National Democratic Party (NPD) Chairman Udo Voigt at the convention. The declaration received roaring applause from those in attendance. Some 250 representatives from German, especially the eastern provinces, the right-wing neo-Nazi strongholds, and another 250 guests, among them delegations from Italy, Romania, and Portugal, attended the neo-Nazi convention in Berlin. The convention was authorized by the Supreme Court at the last minute, overturning the decision of the lower courts to ban the convention. So, for the first time since the founding of the party in 1964, the party leadership gathered in Berlin, or, as they call it, "the capital of the German Reich."

But Germany isn't the only nation to suffer from this problem. Nazi vandals spray painted swastikas and anti-Semitic slogans on a war memorial in a West Sussex town in Britain last night...

Quote: "Vandals have daubed Nazi swastikas on a war memorial in West Sussex. Police officers also found anti-Semitic graffiti painted on one home and a shop close to the memorial in Chapel Road, Worthing, on Saturday morning. A spokesman for Sussex Police said: "This is offensive and racist graffiti. It's fairly large-scale."

And of course, heir to the throne, Prince Harry, thought it would be a laugh to sport a Nazi costume at his last birthday party, just days before the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. It seems the world is fast forgetting all that happened in the 1940's. With holocaust denial from President Ahmadinejad and Neo-Nazism in Europe, it seems we are well on the way towards a third world war.

Mark of the Beast
RFID identification on US borders by 2008
This link from my friend Adam...

The implementation of a global identification system, as I was saying before, is well underway. This web page from an immigration service shows just how far on we are towards implementing a global "Mark of the Beast" system. The document states that every Western nation is now working towards implementing RFID identification systems, replacing paper documentation with high-tech solutions. Everything from visas and passports to social services and national identification systems are being completely overhauled. The US and UK are already issuing RFID passports, the UK will start issuing identification cards in 2008 to EU immigrants and Australia is proposing to introduce a voluntary RFID social services card. By 2010 the UK hope to introduce a compulsory national identification card. And by 2010, according to the document, you will need RFID enabled identification to cross any border, by land, sea or air...

Quote: "Beginning in 2007, all travelers across the U.S. border by plane, boat or train must present new, secure travel documents. For citizens without passports and nationals of countries without other biometric identification, something called a "PASS card" is currently under development. The policy applies to U.S. citizens and all immigrants and visitors, with or without visa. By 2008, the next generation of identification documents will be ready, and all travel across the border will require documents. By 2010, it is unlikely that any border crossing will be legal without a biometric RFID document of some sort, even a daytrip to Canada. That trend is being seen across all the western nations of the world. The European Union especially is devoting enormous resources toward an EU solution using RFID technology.

And because this push towards a biometric identification system is global, when it comes to launching the Mark of the Beast, it will just be a natural progression to start receiving a chip in your hand or forehead. I wonder if Prime Minister Tony Blair would have any "civil liberties" problems with that, after all they've already got all your data, they just want to make it more secure. I do believe there is nothing to fear from having a card with biometric information on it (my only concern being who would abuse that information), and the real Mark of the Beast system will be linked with worship of the Antichrist. But today's news shows us just how far we have come, and how little in the way of prophecy actually needs to be fulfilled before we start seeing passages in Revelation coming to pass.

Revelation 14:9-10
And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:

Palestinians mark 2nd anniversary of Arafat
Two years ago, Yasser Arafat, Chairman of the Palestinian Liberation Organization, renowned terrorist and Nobel peace-prize winner died in France. The cause of his death, as far as I know, was never determined - or at least never made public. Two years on, in relation to terror, not much has changed. Back then, Israel had practically destroyed Arafat's Ramallah compound due to his complete failure to reign in terror. The world condemned Israel for attacking the Palestinian infrastructure, but his was an infrastructure that was dedicated to financing the terror war against Israel. "He promised us peace, and the only peace he gave us was the peace of the grave", someone once said. After his death there were renewed hopes that peace deal could be reached. A "moderate" was elected to replace Arafat, but like his predecessor, Abbas has been unable, even unwilling to do anything about the daily terror attacks on Israel.

Quote: ""Israel kills women, children, and elderly. Not a day passes that the Israeli occupation doesn't commit a crime," said PA President Mahmoud Abbas in his speech at the ceremony in Ramallah. Abbas added: "Israel is taking steps against us of siege and collective punishment. In addition to the settlements and the separation fence, they have turned out cities into large prisons and detainment camps. The settlements are illegal, and ultimately Jerusalem will be our capital."

But the political situation is very much different 2 years on, with hopes for a Palestinian unity government being formed by the end of the month, according to Mahmoud Abbas. The formation of a unity government, not headed by Hamas who's charter calls for the destruction of Israel, will help bring about the end of the international boycott of the Palestinian Authority...

Quote: ""I announce to our people the happy news, that we have achieved great progress on the path to establishing a national unity government that can end the siege and open the way toward a political settlement," Abbas said in a speech marking the second anniversary of the death of his predecessor, Yasser Arafat. "I expect that, Allah willing, this government will see light before the end of this month," he said.

...and it seems that Israeli Prime Minister Olmert is preparing to meet with Mahmoud Abbas, in order to boost his chances for the formation of a new government...

Quote: "She [Livni] said Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert wanted to meet with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas of Fatah to move the process along. "The idea is to strengthen Abu Mazen (Abbas) in order to give him the possibility to send a message to the moderate Palestinians that there is another way, not only the Hamas way but also his way," She said. On Thursday, Olmert said Abbas would be surprised by what Israel could offer him, but did not elaborate.

Of course, the Bible states that there will be a peace agreement in the Middle East that will appear to solve a lot of the problems. There will be peace for a short time, but the peace agreement will fail and all nations will be gathered together to do battle against Israel, and in particular Jerusalem (Zechariah 12:3).

Quote: ""Peace and security [safety] will not be realised under occupation and settlement and the inclusion of noble Jerusalem into Israel," Mr Abbas told a crowd of thousands of Palestinians.

Jeremiah 30:4-7
And these are the words that the LORD spake concerning Israel and concerning Judah. For thus saith the LORD; We have heard a voice of trembling, of fear, and not of peace. Ask ye now, and see whether a man doth travail with child? wherefore do I see every man with his hands on his loins, as a woman in travail, and all faces are turned into paleness? Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.

1st Thessalonians 5:2-3
For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

Believe the lie
Former MoD chief warns UK faces alien threat
I don't normally pick out news to do with the paranormal, I don't believe its spiritually profitable to dwell on that kind of stuff, but I thought I'd comment on this news seeing it comes from such a high-ranking politician and does have a prophetical significance. Nick Pope was the chief of staff for the Ministry of Defence and was involved in a secretive UFO investigation programme run by the British government that has since been shut down. He has investigated several UFO encounters, and continues this work on a personal level. He believes UK airspace has been compromised on several occasions, but the UK is not willing to pursue the perpetrators. Nick Pope warns that the UK is wide open for attack, should one of these encounters happen to have sinister intentions.

Quote: "Mr Pope decided to speak out about his worries after resigning from his post at the Directorate of Defence Security at the MoD this week. "The consequences of getting this one wrong could be huge," he said. "If you reported a UFO sighting now, I am absolutely sure that you would just get back a standard letter telling you not to worry. ''Frankly we are wide open - if something does not behave like a conventional aircraft now, it will be ignored. "The X-Files have been closed down." If these words had come from a sci-fi fanatic, they could be easily dismissed by cynics. But Mr Pope's CV - he was head of the UFO project between 1991 and 1994 - cannot be ignored. When he began his job, he too was sceptical about UFOs but access to classified files on the subject and investigation of a series of spectacular UFO sightings gradually changed his mind.

I'm not generally a conspiratorial type, but I do believe some of these incidents may be foreign government experiments. I have heard that the US airforce were using UK bases to test secret aircraft, and such an experiment may have been the cause of the incident at the Mull of Kintyre in 1994, in which an RAF Chinook helicopter full of security personnel crashed into a remote hillside killing everyone onboard. The UK government charged the dead pilots with negligence despite no evidence to prove this, an act which is virtually unheard of in the history of the UK airforce.

There is also a spiritual side to UFOs. The Bible doesn't mention life on other planets, but there is life in outer space. Satan is called the "prince of the power of the air" in Ephesians 2:2, and Revelation 12 mentions a war in heaven, during which hundreds of millions of demons will be cast out of space down to earth, in the middle of the seven year tribulation period. The Bible states that after the rapture, those people who had heard the gospel during their life time but rejected it, will get no second chance to believe. After the rapture occurs and millions of Christians "disappear", the entire world will be struggling to try and understand what has happened. But Satan will offer the world a lie which God will cause the unbelievers to accept. What that lie will be I'm not sure, but many think a link with UFOs is a possibility.

2nd Thessalonians 2:11-12
And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Christian girls beheaded for Ramadan "trophy"
And Indonesian court has put a Muslim man on trial who it is believed organized the beheadings of three Christian school girls last year. Hasanuddin returned from the Philippines with stories of how the Moro Islamic Liberation Front staged bombings to coincide with the end of Ramadan. He wondered whether such a plan could be carried out in Indonesia, but decided against it - instead opting to behead Christians.

Quote: "However, after further discussion with friends, he decided that beheading Christians could qualify as an act of Muslim charity. Conscripting several accomplices at a local pesantren, or Islamic school, he directed one of them, Lilik Purnomo, to seek out "the head of a Christian", prosecutors alleged. "It would be a great Lebaran trophy if we got a Christian. Go search for the best place for us to find one," Hasanuddin allegedly ordered his companion. Lilik returned to say he had found an "excellent" target - a group of schoolgirls who travelled to and from class by foot in the Central Sulawesi village of Gebong Rejo.

Six Muslim men carefully planned the attack over several days, watching the students travel to and from school. On one occasion they had to call off the attack after they were spotted by another woman. With the severed heads, a note was found written, "Wanted: 100 more Christian heads, teenaged or adult, male or female; blood shall be answered with blood, soul with soul, head with head."

John 16:1-3
These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended. They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service. And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me.

France tests long range missile
France successfully tested its new long-range M51 missile today, in what may be seen as a possible warning message to states such as North Korea and Iran on their nuclear ambitions. The M51 is a submarine-based missile, with a range of over 3,250 miles and can carry up to six nuclear warheads.

Quote: "The missile carried no nuclear weapon for the test flight, which was closely monitored by specialists at a test center in Biscarosse, in southwest France, as well as by the Monge missile-tracking ship, ministry spokesman Jean-Francois Bureau said. The M51 is designed to replace the M45 submarine-launched ballistic missile, or SLBM.

North Korea, India, and most recently Iran, have tested their own long-range missiles, also capable of carrying nuclear warheads. French President Jacque Chirac warned at the beginning of the year that his country would be willing to use nuclear weapons in retaliation, if a terrorist attack was carried out on French soil.

Rockets pound Israel, world looks on
As the Palestinians buried their dead from the Beit Hanoun "massacre", rockets continue to land in Israeli towns. Over 20 rockets have been fired at Israel in just the last two days, and the world's silence is almost deafening...

Quote: "The Kassam rocket attacks on the citizens of Sderot and other Negev towns continue incessantly. Two rockets hit Kibbutz Be'eri, causing light damage to a barn. Another rocket rained down on the Hesder Yeshiva in Sderot shortly before 10 AM. "I was in my office preparing for a class," Yeshiva Dean Rabbi David Fendel said, "and I heard the shriek of the rocket with which we have become so familiar. A few seconds later, it smashed down just two meters away, with a tremendous crash." Hundreds of students were in the study hall at the time, and they say that the uneventful results of the rocket were a "miracle." "When they arrived on the scene and saw the rocket and its thick, black smoke," eyewitnesses said, "they immediately broke out in song and thanksgiving to G-d at the great miracle that had occurred."

Rabbi David's story is just one of many "miracles" that have been reported since Hamas took control of the Palestinian Authority last year. On the mainstream news, Kassams are reported as crudely-made rockets, but they have been responsible for dozens of deaths and hundreds of injuries. Operation Autumn Clouds was intended to curtail the constant barrage of rockets from the Gaza Strip, but so far all that has been achieved is the threat of more attacks...

Quote: "Nineteen Palestinian citizens were killed in the grave incident , most of them members of the Atamna family. Maali refuses to accept the Israeli declaration about a mistake or a malfunction. "One shell can be errant, two can be errant, but 20 shells cannot be errant. It was directed fire. They killed the children and the women, but filled all of us, especially all the children, with hate. "What can we feel, if not hatred, when we see bodies, body parts, chopped children without heads? God willing we shall live to witness the great revenge," she said.

But the question is, how many shells actually landed in Beit Hanoun? The BBC reported last night that 10-12 shells landed in the town, killing 18 Palestinians. But a preliminary IDF investigation has revealed that 10 of the 12 shells that were fired at the town on Wednesday hit their targets, and the impact locations of the other 2 shells is still being sought.

Quote: "An IDF investigation, headed by Maj.-Gen. Meir Kalifi, the Deputy Commander of the Ground Forces, into the explosion that brought down part of a building complex in northern Gaza and killed 19 people, is currently underway. In the course of stopping Kassam rocket launchers from the area, the IDF fired 12 artillery shells to the area. The investigation will attempt to find out whether one of the two as yet unaccounted-for shells accidentally hit the building.

Palestinians call for UN monitors on border
The similarities between the conflict with Hizbullah and this latest conflict with Palestinian terrorist organizations continues, as Palestinians call on the United Nations to intervene after the deaths in Beit Hanoun. Palestinian UN observer Riyad Mansour called on the body to press for a full Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, station peace keepers along the border and negotiate a cease fire.

Quote: "The Israeli occupying forces have committed another massacre this morning in Beit Hanoun," Mansour said. "The Security Council has to react and to react immediately in order to stop this aggression and these crimes against the Palestinian people." According to Mansour, the Palestinians demand that the Security Council calls on Israel to immediately withdraw from Gaza, to agree to the presence of international observers at the border with Gaza, and to reach a ceasefire agreement with the Palestinian government.

With Lebanon, a UN peace keeping force was already stationed in the region, so an expansion of the UNIFIL force was seen as a natural consequence of the war between Israel and Hizbullah. But in Gaza, the European Union has been the main organization dealing with the Israelis and Palestinians, as we have seen with the Rafah border and in training the Palestinian Authority police force. Whether the international community responds to this incident in Beit Hanoun or not I cannot tell, but an incident such as this provides the perfect pretext for some sort of external peace keeping force to intervene in the conflict, as predicted (and here).

Quote: ""The idea of sending UN troops to the Gaza Strip is currently being aired. But I think that if things go well in Lebanon, a similar positive process could also begin in the Gaza Strip: the release of [kidnapped soldier Gilad] Shalit, a Palestinian unity government that meets the criteria set by the international community, and the presence of a UN force to bolster the Palestinian government."

World slams Israel, Hamas calls for attacks
Condemnation has started pouring in on Israel from all over the world, following the deaths of 19 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip this morning. The EU's Commissioner for External Relations said the incident was "profoundly shocking", Turkish Foreign Minister stated the attack was "devastating and disproportionate", and Italian Foreign Minister Massimo D'Alema called the killings "a massacre". Palestinians are claiming this as a repeat of the Qana "massacre" - an event that was largely exaggerated by the mainstream media, staged-managed by Hizbullah and condemned by the international community with little regard shown for the truth. And once again, Prime Minister Olmert has publicly apologized for the deaths before an investigation presents its findings. The Italian Foreign Minister stated that it is now time for the international community to find a solution to the Middle East problem...

Quote: ""This morning 18 people, women and children, were massacred ... an escalation of violence I think is unacceptable," Foreign Minister Massimo D'Alema told reporters. "I think that now an international initiative to unblock the Palestinian situation is essential." "It is clear that if this escalation of violence is not stopped we risk returning to a climate of war," D'Alema said.

Meanwhile, the threat of renewed violence in the Middle East is mounting. Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal has promised that the terrorist organization will respond with "deeds, not words". The military wing of Hamas, the Al-Qassam Brigades, has called for Muslims worldwide to carry out attacks against American targets because of US support for the "Zionist occupation".

Quote: "Signalling a change in tactics, Hamas' military wing on Wednesday called on Muslims around the world to attack American targets after an apparent misfiring of an IDF artillery shell in the Gaza Strip. "America is offering political, financial and logistic cover for the Zionist occupation crimes, and it is responsible for the Beit Hanoun massacre. Therefore, the people and the nation all over the globe are required to teach the American enemy tough lessons," Hamas said in a statement sent to The Associated Press.

This news comes for a very awkward time for the state of Israel, with police already on high alert over the threat of violence on Friday's planned homosexual march through the streets of Jerusalem. Haredim have been protesting in the streets, and the Friday date isn't likely to impress Muslims. The same parade was postponed earlier in the year due to the Israeli-Hizbullah war. The Gay Pride rally the previous year was also cancelled due to the threat of violence during the Gaza disengagement. Is it any coincidence, that as another homosexual march is in the planning, Israel once again faces the threat of war?

Quote: "As if the unprecedented measures taken to deal with the gay pride parade scheduled to be held in Jerusalem on Friday were not enough, the police on Wednesday declared a high state of alert across Israel following the grave incident which took place in Gaza Wednesday morning. On Wednesday afternoon, Police Chief Moshe Karadi instructed the police districts, the Border Guard and the traffic police to boost their routine security operations. The defense establishment currently holds 15 concrete warnings on terror organizations' plans to carry out attacks in Israel. The warnings originate in the Samaria and Gaza Strip and relate to suicide bombings, fire incidents, high-trajectory fire and kidnappings.

PA: Israel must be wiped off the face of the earth
These words were spoken by Palestinian Government Spokesman Dr. Ghazi Hamad, as reports emerged of the deaths of 18 Palestinians from Beit Hanoun in the Gaza Strip. Prime Minister Haniyeh has called for three days of mourning, has suspended talks on a Palestinian unity government, and is promising revenge. The IDF has stated they had fired shells into the Gaza Strip around the time of the incident, but not near the area in question, and is planning to carry out an investigation into the incident.

Quote: "Hamad added that "this is not a country of humans. These are animals and a group of gangs, and this country must be wiped off the face of the earth." The Palestinian government was set to convene for an emergency meeting Wednesday morning following IDF's strike in Beit Hanoun. Meanwhile, Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh called on the United Nations Security Council to convene an emergency meeting.

Whether the IDF are responsible or not for this shelling remains to be seen. The IDF carried out an investigation into a similar incident last June in which a family of seven was supposedly killed by an Israeli shell while "picnicking" on a Gaza beach. The deaths prompted immediate worldwide condemnation on Israel, but was later revealed that the most likely cause was a Palestinian land mine. Whoever is responsible for this incident, you can be sure Hamas will make the most of it.

Quote: "A senior Hamas official urged Palestinians to carry out attacks inside Israel in response to the Gaza shelling. "The reaction is coming. (Israel) prepare the coffins and black body bags," Nizar Rayan, a hardline Hamas leader shouted to an agitated crowd outside a morgue in Beit Hanoun. "Revenge for the blood of martyrs is coming ... We urge our mujahideen to resume bombing attacks in Jaffa, in Haifa, in Ashdod -- every place in our homeland."

Third Temple
Sheikh warns Jews not to build on Temple Mount
The head of the Islamic Movement in Israel, Sheikh Raad Salah, has warned the National Union party in Israel not to proceed with plans for building a synagogue on the Temple Mount. The party announced the plans a couple of months ago with the goal of providing a place for Jews to pray on the historic site. Christians and Jews are currently forbidden by the Israeli police to pray on the mount, for fear of inciting the Jordanian Islamic Waqf who administer the site. Sheikh Raad Salah has stated that if the Israelis even think of building on the mount, it will be over their dead bodies...

Quote: ""The timing of the publication [of this plan] is not coincidental," the Islamic Movement states, "and it jibes with the increased calls for expulsion [of Arabs], the implementation of the policy of religious persecution and national discrimination, and the giving of a green light to the construction of the Third Temple." "We remind, for the 1,000th time, that the entire Al-Aqsa mosque, including all of its area and alleys above the ground and under it, is exclusive and absolute Moslem property, and no one else has any rights to even one grain of earth in it." "We remind the Israeli establishment, which stands behind these plans, that the problem of Al-Aqsa and Jerusalem is not just a Palestinian problem, but a Palestinian, Arab and Islamic problem. The day the Al-Aqsa Mosque is harmed, Heaven forbid, all the Arab and Islamic nations will call to prevent this damage. Watch out! Beware of merely the thought of hurting or desecrating the mosque."

Interestingly, even the Sheikh has some insight into motives behind the efforts to build a synagogue on the mount, stating it will amount to a green light to the construction of the Third Temple. The Third Temple will of course be constructed during the beginning of the seven year tribulation period, and subsequently be defiled by the Antichrist.

EU immigrants to need ID card for Britain
This link from my friend Adam...

The British Prime Minister Tony Blair has revealed that immigrants to the European Union will soon be required to possess a new British identity card, before they will be permitted to work or claim benefits within the United Kingdom. British citizens applying for a new passport from 2008 will be issued with a national identity card, but the card itself won't become compulsory for all British citizens to own until 2010. But in 2008 the card will be compulsory to own if you are from outside the European Union and you plan on staying in the UK. This article written by the Prime Minister himself spells out his vision for the future of "Brave New Britain", and I must say, I didn't think we were as far on as the Prime Minister believes...

Quote: "Biometric visas and residence cards are central to our plans and will be introduced ahead of ID cards. I also want to see ID cards made compulsory for all non-EU foreign nationals looking for work and when they get a National Insurance number...
Biometric technology will enable us, in a relatively short period of time, to cut delays, improve access and make secure a whole array of services...
There are three main lines of attack - the civil liberties argument, effectiveness and cost. I know this will outrage some people but, in a world in which we daily provide information to a whole host of companies and organisations and willingly carry a variety of cards to identify us, I don't think the civil liberties argument carries much weight...
We will have no choice but to have a biometric passport, if we want to travel abroad. The United States has started to require them. This will soon be the case throughout the world.

I am very concerned at the Tony Blair's views. Earlier in the year the House of Lords narrowly defeated the Prime Minister's attempts to bring in a compulsory national identity card by the back door. A compromise plan was adopted and the date for introducing the compulsory cards was pushed back to 2010. But it looks like Tony Blair is up to his old tricks again, trying to bring in his national ID card through the back door.

Once again the Prime Minister has thrown caution to the wind, and completely disregarded the legitimate fears of those who feel accepting a card is infringing on their civil liberties, saying our arguments "don't carry much weight". The fact that he declares this as a "line of attack" shows that he believes it is his personal mission to bring in these cards, and that those who disagree with him are wrong. A similar attitude was taken by the Labour government over the Incitement to Religious Hatred bill last year. He emphasizes the benefits of the card in cutting waiting times, fraud and terrorism, while improving security and access to important information. While that may be true, there is no doubt big retail firms will push those advantages on us to help them save money, and those who don't wish to be a part of this "Beast" system will become second class citizens. And finally, if you've any more objections, don't bother. Tony Blair says that this system will soon be used throughout the world, so essentially, "like it or lump it". Friends, I think there is no doubt, the implementation of a global identification system is well underway, and it may be only a few years before someone decides that cards are not secure enough.

Revelation 19:20
And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.

Palestinians agree principle of unity government
Hamas and Fatah have finally come to some sort of agreement over the National Reconciliation Document, which calls for the formation of a unity government. Both terrorist organizations have agreed in principle to the idea and that Prime Minister Haniyeh will not run in new elections, but the details still have to be finalized. The announcement of the deal comes a week after Javier Solana, the High Representative of the European Common, Foreign and Security Policy, toured the Middle East searching for his "global and lasting cease-fire", and called on Hamas and Fatah to form a unity government as soon as possible. The unity government will not be lead by Hamas, and as a result will permit the European Union to continue funding the Palestinian government.

Quote: ""The choice has been made for the next prime minister," Moussa said. "His name will be presented to President Abbas. A joint committee will be formed to appoint the portfolios and to finalise other details." Mustafa Barghouthi, an independent lawmaker who has been mediating between Hamas leaders and Abbas, confirmed a tentative deal had been made. "There is approval to form a new government headed by a new prime minister," he said. "We are preparing for a meeting between President Abbas and Prime Minister Haniyeh very soon."

So it looks like Solana's statecraft has once again paid off...

Quote: ""It's being worked very hard at this very moment as we are talking a lot of people are working on this issue (a technocratic government)...we hope to see in not a very long period of time a possibility of that," Javier Solana told reporters in English after arriving in Jordan from Beirut.

As we have said before, a Palestinian unity government will not necessarily recognize Israel's right to exist. The 18 point prisoner's document does not call for the recognition of Israel, or the renunciation of violence. Instead it will end fighting between Hamas and Fatah, and focus their attacks on the West Bank and the Golan Heights. Even if the Palestinian Authority government officially recognized Israel's right to exist, Hamas and Fatah themselves still won't, and their ultimate goal is still the destruction of Israel (but don't tell Solana that).

"Jezebel" proclaimed an Anglican Bishop
This link from my friend Adam...

I wouldn't normally go so low as to attack someone over their beliefs, but when it comes to Bishop Katherine "Jezebel" Schori, the name Jezebel seems to be more fitting that Jefferts. The US Episcopal Church officially proclaimed Katherine Jefferts Schori, Bishop of the denomination in Washington DC today. Jefferts - and the US Episcopal church in general, has courted controversy over the last year for a number of different reasons. In June of this year, she caused a storm when she referred to Jesus Christ as feminine, stating "Our mother Jesus gives new birth to a new creation and we are his children". Jefferts also believes that God created homosexuality, and that contrary to Scripture, homosexuality is not a sin. The US Episcopal church caused a ruckus in that same month, when they affirmed that the name of Jesus Christ was not the only name whereby we must be saved (Acts 4:12). This prompted true believers in the denomination to proclaim that the US Episcopal church as we know it is now dead. And this dead church's leader seems to share the belief that Jesus Christ is not the only way to God...

Quote: "The woman who'll be installed this weekend as the first female presiding bishop of the Episcopal Church doesn't consider Jesus Christ the only way to God. In an Associated Press interview, Bishop Katharine Jefferts-Schori said, "If we insist that we know the one way to God, we've put God in a very small box."

Oh dear. I guess Jesus didn't really mean it when He said those words in John 14:6...

John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Where do I start with this one? Peter stated in his epistle that in the last days, apostasy would grow so bad that there would come a time when church leaders would even go so far as to deny the Lord Jesus (2nd Peter 2:1). That is happening today. In the book of Revelation, there are several figurative women mentioned. One is by the name of "Jezebel", and another is the "Mother of Harlots". Both represent false religious systems.

Revelation 2:20-22
Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols. And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not. Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.

The name Jezebel has become so hated due to what the real Jezebel did, that the name is now used as a derogatory term for a devious woman. In the Old Testament, Jezebel killed the true prophets of God, and caused Israel to worship the false god Baal. Likewise today, there are "Jezebels" that are seducing God's people, and leading thousands astray. What's worse is that the church today seems to suffer it, instead of putting the situation right. May God help us to stand firm on His Word, despite the apostasy around us.

Revelation 3:4
Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.

Blair to visit Damascus by Christmas
The British Prime Minister has revealed plans for a visit to Damascus in a bid to revive peace negotiations before the turn of the year. The British Foreign Office admitted earlier in the week that they had sent Nigel Sheinwald, the Prime Minister's chief Foreign Policy advisor, to Syria for secret discussions with President Bashar Assad. The goal of the meeting was to jolt Syria into engaging in the Middle East peace process and prize Assad away from Iranian influence. Earlier in the year, Bashar Assad stated that he would give Israel 6 months to come to a peace agreement over the Golan Heights, or face the threat of war. Syria, of course, is the main sponsor of terrorism in the Middle East, supporting Hizbullah, Islamic Jihad and Hamas. All this leads Tony Blair to believe that achieving Syrian backing of a peace agreement in the Middle East could be the key that would open "many roads to peace".

Quote: "If Syria once again became a player, the prime minister believes, many roads to peace can be opened. Mr Blair - who visited the region in September - is convinced that Syria could hold the key to peace in the Middle East, in that it has great influence over Hamas, the democratically elected government of Palestine, as well as over Hizbullah in Lebanon, and some of the Shia insurgency in Iraq. Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal is based in Damascus, and probably has the power to release captured Israeli soldiers, one of the barriers to the reopening of peace talks between Israel and Palestine.

Javier Solana also recently announced he would revisit the Middle East in late November or early December. And I believe Bashar Assad will eventually agree to a peace deal with Israel. Assad knows he cannot win a war with Israel, but seeks to regain the Golan Heights in the same way Egypt regained the Sinai. If the international community could give Syria assurances over the Golan, Assad may just be willing to come to the negotiating table.

Wars and rumours of wars
Six Arab nations pursuing nuclear power
The Times Newspaper reported today that no less than six Arab nations have declared their interest in pursuing nuclear technology. Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia are now seeking to build nuclear power plants, with the help of the International Atomic Energy Agency. It is believed that the renewed interest in nuclear energy in the Middle East is partly due to the burgeoning threat posed by Iran.

Quote: ""Some Middle East states, including Egypt, Morocco, Algeria and Saudi Arabia, have shown initial interest (in using) nuclear power primarily for desalination purposes," Tomihiro Taniguch, the deputy director-general of the IAEA, was quoted in the Times. He noted that the IAEA met with the Arab nations to set up technical advisory programs. Expert on nuclear proliferation at the International Institute for Strategic Studies, Mark Fitzpatrick said it was clear the sudden rush for nuclear know-how was to provide a "security hedge" for the Arabs nations. “If Iran was not on the path to a nuclear weapons capability you would probably not see this sudden rush (in the Arab world)," he said.

This puts an end to the folly of the policy of a nuclear-free Middle East. Former British Foreign Minister Jack Straw stated on Channel 4 news earlier in the year, that he believes Israel's possession of nuclear weapons is a potential threat to Middle East peace. Jack Straw proposed that after Iran is disarmed, that the international community would proceed with disarming Israel, a move which would amount to national suicide for tiny Israel. His comments made me so mad, I decided to write a letter to my MP Lady Hermon and the Foreign Office. Lady Hermon, who is a Christian, wrote a very positive reply to my letter, but unfortunately Kim Howells' response from the British Foreign Office was not so positive. I also wrote a letter regarding the British Foreign Secretary's comments over the Gaza Beach incident, and once again received a very negative response from Kim Howells, in which he seemed to blame Israel for the deaths on the beach whether it was their fault or not. But this anti-Israel policy is not unique to Britain. Even President Bush supports disarming Israel of his nuclear weapons. When it comes to the crunch in the tribulation period, Israel will have only one way to look...

Zechariah 12:10
And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.

Iran stages manoeuvres in the Gulf
Iran has begun a series of military manoeuvres in the Gulf aimed at deterring a strike on the country's nuclear facilities. The manoeuvres dubbed the "Great Prophet", included the test firing of several new missiles, including short range naval missiles and the long range Shihab-3. The Shihab-3 rocket is capable of reaching Israel and could be fitted with a nuclear warhead

Quote: "The Shihab-3 has a range of some 1,250 miles (2,000 km), placing Israel - and American positions in the region - within range. The missile can easily be outfitted with a nuclear warhead. The Shihab-2 was also tested, with a cluster-bomb warhead. It is capable of breaking into 1,400 bomblets upon impact. Other missiles tested include the Zelzal missiles Hizbullah attempted to fire at Tel Aviv, as well as Scud-B, Zolfaghar-73 and Z-3 missiles. The tests mark the beginning of ten days of manoeuvres being run by Iran's Revolutionary Guard. The manoeuvres have been named "Great Prophet," and are taking place throughout the Persian Gulf, the Sea of Oman and various regions inside Iran.

Iran has previously threatened to blockade the Straights of Hormuz, through which two fifths of the world's oil supply flows, in the event of a strike on Iran.

Quote: ""The Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf are... the corner stone of [Iran's] defence. The Strait of Hormuz counts as a point of economic control and pressure in the transfer of energy for aggressive powers from beyond the continent that want to endanger the security of the region", General Safavi said.

Iran also recently published a computer game in which the player must destroy a US tanker in order to blockade shipping in the Gulf. Iran has stated that the missile tests should send a strong warning to their enemies, not to make any move which would make the region tense. Last week President Bush was reported as saying he would support Israel if it decided to attack Iran's nuclear facilities. How long support from the international community will last in the event of a surge in oil prices is another matter.

Russia and Egypt strengthen ties
This link from my friend David...

After yesterday's shocking revelations about Egyptian opinion of Israel, it was announced today that President Hosni Mubarak intends to visit Moscow this week in order to strengthen economic and political relations with the Russian federation. Vladimir Putin became the first Russian President to set foot in Egypt for 40 years when he visited the country last year. Putin hopes to help Egypt build more nuclear power plants - as they are doing in Iran, and aims to bolster Russian influence in Middle East politics.

Quote: "Mr Mubarak has recently proposed reviving Egypt's nuclear energy programme, which was abandoned after the Chernobyl disaster 20 years ago, and it is thought the leaders will discuss nuclear co-operation. They are also likely to talk about increased Russian arms sales to Egypt - something that will not impress the United States, Egypt's traditional arms supplier, our correspondent says. The Middle East conflict is also on the agenda. The Russian Foreign Ministry stressed Egypt's "leading political role in the region" and Russia's "weighty involvement" in attempts to pursue peace.

This also from my friend Alan, in response to yesterday's comments on a future Israeli-Egyptian war, as prophesied in Scripture...

Quote: "A well know fact in the Middle East is that if Israel were ever to be threatened by Egypt and it looked like Israel would lose, the Israelis will hit the Aswan Dam with a nuke. 2000 square miles of water would be released. A friend of mine many years ago was teaching a Bible study in Cairo and afterwards was invited to home of a high Egyptian official. In conversation my friend mentioned this fact and the effect it would have on Cairo. The official said not to worry. We expect the Israelis to do this but we have mined the Nile in such a way that we can divert it into the Rea Sea. Ergo, Is 19:1.

Isaiah 19:4-7
And the Egyptians will I give over into the hand of a cruel lord; and a fierce king shall rule over them, saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts. And the waters shall fail from the sea, and the river shall be wasted and dried up. And they shall turn the rivers far away; and the brooks of defence shall be emptied and dried up: the reeds and flags shall wither. The paper reeds by the brooks, by the mouth of the brooks, and every thing sown by the brooks, shall wither, be driven away, and be no more.

Isaiah 11:15
And the LORD shall utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with his mighty wind shall he shake his hand over the river, and shall smite it in the seven streams, and make men go over dryshod.

Meanwhile, the European Union is continuing clandestine efforts to secure a peace agreement in the Middle East by the end of the year. Envoys from five EU states arrived in Damascus within last week, after a long period of isolation following the assassination of the anti-Syrian Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Harari. Germany and Spain sent their Foreign Ministers (including Spanish Foreign Minister Moratinos, who is pressing for a new peace initiative in the Middle East), while France, the UK and Poland sent high-ranking politicians to meet with their Syrian counterparts.

Quote: "Diplomatic sources told the London-based Arabic language newspaper Al-Hayat that, "Feelers being sent out by Western states towards Syria are in their infancy, and are meant to get a sense of how Syria plans deals with a range of issues, notably, Iraq, Lebanon, the Palestinian issue, as well as the willingness of Syria to play a constructive role in these matters."

It seems the EU are determined to push Bashar Assad away from Iran's hard line position, and into a possible peace agreement with Israel. This follows Javier Solana's 6 day tour of the region.

Blair worried about creationism
This news makes me particularly sad, because it shows what sort of spiritual condition my country is in. The Bible states that the well-being of a country is dependant on its leader. Someone also once said a people get the leaders they deserve. Prime Minister Tony Blair has stated that he would be concerned if creationism, as taught in some Christian schools in the United Kingdom, became the mainstream. The creation-evolution debate has raged for years in the US, yet the only time we hear about this in the UK is when the evolutionists score a victory against the creationists. The news media in this country presents evolution as proven fact, and often portrays creationism as religious fanaticism and scientific ignorance. I remember, I think it was a report by Justin Webb for the BBC, into the evolution/creation debate in the US. He followed one Christian family around for week, examining why they believe in a 6 day creation. When the younger daughter of the family announced to the reporter in private that she could accept millions of years despite being a Christian, he said it was like a breath of fresh air. Yes, apparently the BBC are so concerned for the mental well-being of US citizens, that they are sending people to educate them in the benefits of believing in evolution.

Quote: ""I've visited one of the schools in question and as far as I'm aware they are teaching the curriculum in a normal way," he said. "If I notice creationism becoming the mainstream of the education system in this country then that's the time to start worrying," he said. Blair, who is due to give a lecture on the future of British science on Friday, said science was almost as important as economic stability to the future of the British economy. "If we do not take the opportunities that are there for us in science then we are not going to have a successful modern economy," he said. "We will be out-competed on labour costs".

In reality, it is the "scientific" community's ignorance of creationism that is the problem. The "modern economy", which Prime Minister Blair covets so much, would not exist if it weren't for Christian scientists such as Faraday who discovered electricity, Isaac Newton who discovered the law of gravity, Louis Pasteur who virtually invented modern medicine, and Wernher von Braun who invented rocket propulsion. This myth, that somehow the fabric of society and science would unravel if evolution was discredited is not only false, but a lie straight from hell. It makes me sad when a Prime Minister who claims to be a Christian states that he would be worried if more of us started believing the Bible. That we had a Godly leader, what a different country this would be...

When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.

Wars and rumours of wars
92% of Egyptians see Israel as enemy
A recent poll conducted by an Egyptian state institute has revealed that 92% of Egyptians see Israel as an enemy state, despite having signed a lasting peace agreement with the Jewish nation 27 years ago. 60% of Egyptians also feel that Denmark is an enemy of Egypt, and 50% believed the US could also be considered an enemy. Egypt has of course fought and lost several wars with Israel, in 1948, 1956, 1967 and 1973. But Denmark comes as a surprise, having only published caricatures of the prophet Mohammed, and at that, long after an Egyptian paper published them.

Quote: "And which countries have been crowned as 'friends' of Egypt? The list is topped by Saudi Arabia, Libya, the Palestinian Authority, Sudan and Syria.

This poll has shattered my faith in the peace agreement between Israel and Egypt. The Bible states that Egypt will be one of the countries that will come under control of the Antichrist during the tribulation period.

Daniel 11:40, 42
And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him: and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over... He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape.

Because of this fact, I believe Egypt will one day break its peace agreement with Israel (there have already been calls for it to do so over the Israeli Hizbullah war), and become engaged in a major Middle East war, possibly the Gog Magog war of Ezekiel 38-39. The Bible states that after the tribulation period, several cities in Egypt will speak the language of Canaan, and one city will be called the city of destruction (Isaiah 19:18). The poll also reveals a surprising statistic, that most Egyptians view Libya, the PA, Sudan and Syria as allies. Libya and Sudan are of course mentioned by name in Ezekiel 38-39. The PA and Syria will also become involved in this war, resulting in the destruction of Damascus (Isaiah 17).
