| "Then he dreamed, and behold a ladder was set up on the earth, and its top reached to heaven; and there the angels of God were ascending and descending on it." - Genesis 28:12
"And He [Jesus] said to him [Nathanael], 'Most assuredly, I say to you, hereafter you shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man." - John 1:51
In Jacob's dream, he saw a ladder from earth to heaven with angels of God ascending and descending. But where were these angels ascending and descending onto? Jesus provides that answer to Nathanael in John's Gospel. The angels were ascending and descending upon Jesus. What God revealed to Jacob, we see the fulfillment in Jesus. Jesus is the only access (ladder) between earth to heaven. The disciples witnessed a glimpse of Jesus' divine nature and they also witnessed Him being taken up into heaven. Those who trust in Jesus will be with Him in glory for all eternity.
