"The Lord is slow to anger and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked." - Nahum 1:3

"The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance." - 2 Peter 3:9

God if He wills can destroy the universe in a moment and restart everything with no sin in it. But that's not part of God's character and He went to the other extreme to become man and even die for His people. God is merciful and slow to anger and He even gives the wicked sufficient time to repent. Until we know Christ as our Saviour, we are wicked in the sight of God because the heart is desperately wicked and inclined to sin. Return to God through Jesus Christ and accept the pardon for sin that He freely offers.
