| Sheik Abu Saqer, leader of Islamic "outreach" movement Jihadia Salafiya, has warned Christians living in Gaza that they must accept Islamic rule in the territory. He made the comments during an interview with WorldNetDaily, following Hamas' coup in the Gaza Strip. Jihadia Salafiya recently announced the creation of a "military wing", who's job is to ensure citizens are abiding by Islamic law. The group recently carried out an attack at a United Nations school, during which one person was killed and seven were wounded. The school had apparently allowed boys and girls to take part in the same sporting event. Quote: "Abu Saqer accused the leadership of the Gaza Christian community of "proselytising and trying to convert Muslims with funding from American evangelicals." "This missionary activity is endangering the entire Christian community in Gaza," he said. Abu Saqer claimed there was "no need" for the thousands of Christians in Gaza to maintain a large number of institutions in the territory. A few days ago, Palestinian terrorists also firebombed a church in Gaza, burning Bibles and destroying computer equipment. And on several occasions, the YCMA has been firebombed and told to cease proselytising in the former Jewish territory. Hamas have stated that they have no plans to introduce Sharia law in the region, but what Hamas says and what Hamas does seem to be two completely different things. Meanwhile, it seems the international community can't do enough for President Abbas and his new Palestinian unity government, now operating in Judea and Samaria. Fatah has announced plans to sever all ties with Hamas until they restore power to the PA in the Gaza Strip. And Javier Solana, the High Representative for the European Common, Foreign and Security Policy, is hoping the new situation will boost efforts to achieve a lasting peace with the Palestinians. Quote: "Livni said the creation of the emergency Palestinian government provided new opportunities for Israeli-Palestinian peace. Taking up the argument, Solana said Israel must now work rapidly to establish freedom of movement for Palestinians and start thinking "very quickly about a political horizon," a reference to a political settlement allowing Israel to live side by side with an independent Palestinian state. EU diplomats said the bloc was immediately resuming "normal relations" with the Fayyad government and was working on developing the "conditions for urgent assistance and direct financial support to the Palestinian government. The question is, which "Palestinian state"? The two-headed monster that was living in Gaza has now become two separate entities - one living on Israel's southern border and the other living on Israel's east. And there is still talk of Israel doing a deal with Syria and disengaging from the Golan Heights. Which brings us to the prophecy concerning the persecution of the Jewish people during the tribulation period. When the Lord talked about the abomination of desolation being set up, His warning was to those living in the region of Judea.. Mark 13:14 ...note that the Lord doesn't mention Gaza, nor does He mention the Golan Heights (or Galilee). Perhaps the reason for that may be, that there will be no Jews left in these regions during the tribulation period. In any case, we know that there will be no lasting peace agreement with the Palestinians in the "West Bank", rather it will commence a time of trouble that Israel has never experienced before (Daniel 12:1). |
