French FM: Iran is stabilizing factor in Mideast
31/7/06
Some of these links from my friends James and David...

Unbelievable. When you consider France is gearing up to play a leading role in Javier Solana's Middle East security force, ensuring the security of Israel and the stability of Lebanon, it is utterly unbelievable. French Foreign Minister, Philippe Douste-Blazy, has explained to a press conference in Beirut today that he believes Iran is a "great country", that plays a "stabilizing role" in the Middle East. Philippe's comments, coupled with the Lebanese Prime Minister's public praising of Hizbullah means Israel will have its work cut out, if they expect to see the end of this war.

Quote: ""It was clear that we could never accept a destabilization of Lebanon, which could lead to a destabilization of the region," Douste-Blazy said in Beirut. "In the region there is of course a country such as Iran – a great country, a great people and a great civilization which is respected and which plays a stabilizing role in the region," he told a news conference.

Meanwhile, Iranian President Ahmadinejad has been doing everything humanly possible to create instability in the Middle East, and the world in general. Yesterday Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez met with President Ahmadinejad in Teheran, where he was adorned with an Iranian medal of honour after vowing to unite with Iran to help "end the American empire"...

Quote: ""If the U.S. empire succeeds in establishing its dominance, there will be no future for humanity. Therefore we should save humanity and end the American empire," Chavez told a crowd at the University of Tehran. Chavez also criticised the current offensive by Israel, Iran's arch-enemy, against Lebanon as "both fascism and terrorism". This chimed with the view of Iran's president who has compared Israel's conduct to that of Adolph Hitler. A beaming Ahmadinejad presented Chavez with the golden "High Medallion of the Islamic Republic of Iran" and slipped a blue sash around his chest. "Mr Chavez is my brother, the brother of the whole Iranian nation and of all freedom-seeking people in the world," he said.

But it doesn't end there. While Hizbullah fight on in Lebanon at the behest of Ahmadinejad and Assad, the President is once again threatening to pull the plug on the Six Nation nuclear deal, which was presented to Ahmadinejad by Javier Solana on 06/06/06. The reason? You guessed it, the war in Lebanon.

Quote: ""Events in Lebanon affected our evaluations about ... [the] package of incentives. We should review it carefully. I have asked my colleagues to review it more carefully," President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said during a news conference. Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi referred to the ongoing Israeli-Hizbullah war and said that any Security Council action against Iran "will confront the region with more tension," he said.

The UN Security Council is also aiming to pass a resolution tomorrow, which could see sanctions placed on Iran if it fails to halt enrichment by August 31st. President Ahmadinejad is also threatening to end nuclear negotiations if the threat of sanctions is placed against it. It seems Ahmadinejad can't believe his luck, he doesn't know which excuse to use. Thus the President has created the perfect Catch 22 situation...

1) Iran whips up conflict in Lebanon by telling Hizbullah to attack Israel
2) Fighting in Lebanon distracts international community from Iranian nuclear problem, while Ahmadinejad presses on with his goal of enriching enough Uranium to manufacture a bomb
4) World blames Israel for "atrocities" in Lebanon, as mainstream media swallows Iranian Hizbullah lies
5) Iran threatens to pull out of nuclear agreement due to Israeli "aggression" in Lebanon
6) Iran hits Israel with nuclear device while the international community stands back in horror

And as long as politicians like Douste-Blazy and Siniora keep toeing the Iranian line, President Ahmadinejad will know he can keep a firm grip - sorry, "stabilizing role" in Lebanon and the Middle East.

Revelation 9:13-15
And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God, Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates. And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men.

Earthquake hits Red Sea fault line
31/7/06
This from my friend Barbara...

A number of people sent me an interesting link a few days ago entitled "Red Sea parts again". Recent earthquake and volcanic activity in the Middle East has caused the Red Sea to widen by as much as twenty six feet, all within a space of three weeks. As the African and Arabian tectonic plates drift apart from each other, hot magma is forced into the gap forming new rock. The rift also runs through Eritrea and Ethiopia, and volcanologists believe a new sea could eventually be formed as a result of the activity.

Quote: "This is the first rifting episode to have occurred since 1970 and the largest single rip in the Earth's continental crust during the satellite-monitoring era. "We knew about the steady rifting process in Afar, as Arabia moves away from Africa across the rift," Wright said. "And we knew that occasionally the strain that builds up slowly over centuries is released suddenly in rifting episodes. We did not know how big the deformation could be."

What has surprised volcanologists is how quickly this process has occurred. Under normal circumstances, only around two centimetres of rock is formed between the African and Arabian plates per year. Twenty six feet of rock in three weeks proves that our present geology didn't require millions of years to form. My friend Barbara has alerted me to another development in the Middle East, regarding earthquake activity. An earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter Scale hit the Red Sea region yesterday morning. The Red Sea fault line runs right through Jerusalem runs right through the Mount of Olives, reminding us of the prophecy in Zechariah 14 concerning the earthquake that is prophesied to split the mountain in two, when Christ returns.

Zechariah 14:4-5
And his (Lord Jesus Christ) feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which [is] before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, [and there shall be] a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south. And ye shall flee [to] the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the LORD my God shall come, [and] all the saints with thee.

World condemns Israel over Qana attack
30/7/06
Sorry there were no updates yesterday, was up in Portrush all day... Thanks for your prayers about Angela too. Things are OK again.

Any hope of a de-escalation of the conflict in southern Lebanon was dashed today, after the Lebanese Prime Minister Siniora praised Hizbullah and called for its Arab neighbours to act against "Israeli aggression". Around 54 people died when an apartment building they were sleeping in collapsed, in what appears to be the result of an IAF strike. Israel has halted air strikes for two days until the cause of the collapse can be established. An initial investigation has shown the structure of the building collapsed eight hours after the IAF ended their attack, leading the Israelis to believe either a weakened structure or Hizbullah explosives were responsible for the deaths. Israeli Prime Minister Olmert has expressed deep regret over the deaths, but stated that the residents of Qana were warned by Israel to leave the area because they risked getting caught up in the fighting there. The IAF have been fighting in Qana for three days, from which dozens of Katyusha rockets have been launched against Israeli towns. Israel put the blame for the deaths fairly and squarely on Hizbullah, which uses the residents as human shields to carry out attacks against Israel. Not so Siniora...

Quote: "Siniora repeatedly stressed his desire to reach a ceasefire, and called on the UN Security Council to meet immediately and act on the issue. The Lebanese prime minister added that he esteems those who fell in "the defense of Lebanon,"' and said that his government is doing everything to strengthen its stance. He even expressed his "full admiration for Nasrallah and all those who sacrifice their lives for Lebanon."

In reality, it is Hizbullah who is sacrificing the lives of the Lebanese people, not Israel. Contrary to what was reported in the mainstream press, Katyusha rockets started raining down on Israel before the capture of the IDF soldiers. Yesterday Hizbullah set a grim new record, as over 140 rockets landed in northern Israel today, the nineteenth day of the war. Meanwhile, tensions are growing in Syria and Iran. Journalists are reporting a "pre-war" feel from Damascus, and believe President Assad may be preparing his people for war against Israel, with nationalistic military parades being broadcast on state television. President Bashar Assad, who up until now has remained relatively quiet in regards to the situation in Lebanon, condemned the Israeli attack on Qana as "state-sponsored terrorism". Many analysts also believe this Hizbullah attack on Israel has been an operation by the Iranian President to test new weapon systems on Israel, and see what Israel is made of.

Quote "Israel's attack on a building in the Lebanese village of Qana that killed at least 54 civilians constitutes "state terrorism", Syrian President Bashar Assad said on Sunday. "The massacre committed by Israel in Qana this morning shows the barbarity of this aggressive entity. It constitutes state terrorism committed in front of the eyes and ears of the world," Assad said in remarks carried by state news agency SANA.

The continuing escalation of this crisis is causing David Dolan, a Christian reporter who lives in Israel, to believe that a major Middle East war is now on the cards. And there is again a prophetic significance to Israel's current situation. This from David's War Update for today...

Quote: "We are only four days away from the darkest day on the annual Hebrew calendar, the fast of Tisha b’Av, which begins at sundown on Wednesday. It marks various disasters that have befallen the Jewish people on that very date, including the Babylonian and Roman destructions of the ancient Jewish temples and the expulsion of Spain’s large Jewish community in 1492, ordered on that date. It seems to many of us here in Israel that this week could prove pivotal in determining whether or not we are heading toward a full-scale regional war, which could easily result in hundreds of thousands of causalities since both Syria and Iran, along with Israel, possess non-conventional chemical, biological and—at least in Israel’s case, but also quite possibly with her declared adversaries as well—nuclear warheads. To say the least, your urgent prayers are greatly appreciated.

Hizbullah gives journalists guided tours
28/7/06
This from Martin Blackham Ministries...

As the fighting continues to rage in the south of Lebanon between Hizbullah and Israeli forces, another battle rages that in most circles has gone unnoticed. As one of the editors of Honest Reporting described it, a "fourth front" has been opened in the conflict in the Middle East. The liberal media is attempting to assassinate Israel's character. It's not a matter of taking one side or the other - Israeli or "Lebanese", it's a matter of truth and deception, and this is one battle that Hizbullah is very actively engaged in. As we've seen from previous media reports, Israel is being blasted by media for carrying out deliberate attacks on unarmed UN personnel by the UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, deliberately targeting civilians by the Prime Minister of Lebanon, and a whole host of other things by the Iranian President and his cohorts. All these claims have been proven to be groundless, but this still goes mostly unreported in the mainstream media. I didn't see one major news organization that broadcast the fact that Hizbullah guerrillas were using the bombed UN base as a cover to launch attacks against Israel, yet if Israel strikes terrorist bases in Lebanon it's front page news. The liberal media continues to report that out of 400 Lebanese killed a majority of these were civilians, despite the fact that Hizbullah terrorists often dress in civilian clothes and mix with the local population whom they use as human shields to prevent themselves being attacked. This from CNN reporter Nic Robertson...

Quote: "KURTZ: All right. I want to go now to CNN's Nic Robertson, who joins us live from Beirut. Nic Robertson, we were speaking a moment ago about the way journalists cover Hezbollah and some of these tours that Hezbollah officials have arranged of the bomb damage in the areas of Southern Lebanon. You, I believe, got one of those tours. Isn't it difficult for you as a journalist to independently verify any claims made by Hezbollah, because you're not able to go into the buildings and see whether or not there is any military activity or any weapons being hidden there?
NIC: Well, Howard, there's no doubt about it: Hezbollah has a very, very sophisticated and slick media operations. In fact, beyond that, it has very, very good control over its areas in the south of Beirut. They deny journalists access into those areas. They can turn on and off access to hospitals in those areas. They have a lot of power and influence. You don't get in there without their permission. And when I went we were given about 10 or 15 minutes, quite literally running through a number of neighborhoods that they directed and they took us to.

Hizbullah is portrayed in the West as a political party with a military wing, that is fighting for the liberation of Muslim lands from the Zionist and Crusader forces. In reality it is much more than that. Israel has been condemned for creating a virtual siege situation in Lebanon, destroying government and military facilities and taking control of vast swathes of Lebanese territory. But when you consider how powerful Hizbullah is, the Israeli response can no longer be perceived as "disproportionate" as many have claimed. Hizbullah is an organization that is financed by Iran and operates in around 20 countries in the Middle East, controls 25% of Lebanese territory, collects income tax, runs schools, clinics, hospitals and welfare networks, controls municipal councils, and has its own embassies in other countries, has its own satellite television station and operates its own police force, courts and prisons. As has been described in the article, Hizbullah is a state within a state who's aim is furthering Iranian influence in the Middle East, not just a paramilitary organization operating on the Lebanese border. Hizbullah has more firepower than Lebanon's own army, and that is why Israel is calling for a major international peacekeeping force to take control of the region.

Quote: ""The Israelis would be foolish to think they are dealing with nothing but a bunch of mad fanatics," says a former Iranian diplomat now in exile. "Hezbollah in Lebanon is a state in all but name: it has its territory, army, civil service and economic and educational systems."

No wonder Javier Solana couldn't figure out if Hizbullah was a terrorist organization or not. He doesn't know whether to attack it or throw money at it. That's why the world isn't too fussed on pressing Israel to halt its war with Hizbullah. No Middle Eastern country wants Iranian spies sitting on their doorstep, and they are prepared to let Israel deal with them so they don't have to.

Iran to nuke Israel on August 22nd?
28/7/06
I read this article yesterday, but my friend James has brought it to my attention again, so I thought it might be worth a look...

As I said before, in regards to the Iranian nuclear crisis, President Ahmadinejad has taken on the world and won. The UN Security Council had demanded on two occasions that Iran halt its Uranium enrichment programme, or face the threat of sanctions. The High Representative for the European Common, Foreign and Security Policy, Javier Solana, was given the task of personally presenting the Iranian President with a package of incentives (bribes) on 06/06/06, to dissuade Iran from its nuclear ambitions. The bribes included security guarantees for the Islamic state, European built light-water nuclear reactors, a guaranteed supply of nuclear fuel and access to advanced US nuclear technology. Javier Solana had insisted Iran would only be allowed a few weeks to decide whether to accept or reject the package. That was nearly two months ago. The Iranian President, who called for the Jewish state to be "wiped off the map", has stated he will wait until August 22nd before presenting the world with his response to the six-nation offer. US analysts believe the Iranian frequently makes use of symbols when making key decisions, and if this is the case with August 22nd - which Muslims regard as the day Mohammed ascended to heaven, some are wondering what revelations that date may hold for Israel and the world. Islamic tradition states that on the day Mohammed ascended from the Temple Mount, a "great light" lit up the sky. President of the Reform Party of Syria, Farid Ghadry, based on previous statements Ahmadinejad has made about the Jewish state - e.g. Israel "has pushed the button of its own destruction", believes Ahmadinejad could be planning to light up the Jerusalem night sky with a nuclear weapon.

Quote: "And now, according to Ghadry, Ahmadinejad is planning an illumination of the night sky over Jerusalem to rival the one that greeted the Prophet of Islam on his journey. What the Iranian President, he says, is “promising the world by August 22 is the light in the sky over the Aqsa Mosque that took place the night before. That is his answer to the package of incentives the international community offered Iran on June 6.”

Irish Museum clarifies "book in the bog" text
27/7/06
The National Museum of Ireland has issued a correction on the "book in the bog" story. A couple of days ago, a labourer in Ireland discovered an ancient book of Psalms, which had been buried in a peat bog for at least 1000 years. Initial reports suggested this book was found open at Psalm 83, an unfulfilled prophecy which details the desire of Arab nations to destroy Israel. After receiving a "flood" of enquiries, the museum has issued a statement saying that the book is an old Latin Vulgate version which is numbered differently from more modern translations. Psalm 83 in the Latin Vulgate corresponds to Psalm 84 in the KJV.

Quote: ""The above mention of Psalm 83 has led to misconceptions about the revealed wording and may be a source of concern for people who believe Psalm 83 deals with 'the wiping out of Israel'," the museum said in its clarification. The confusion arose because the manuscript uses an old Latin translation of the Bible known at the Vulgate, which numbers the psalms differently from the later King James version, the 1611 English translation from which many modern texts derive. "The Director of the National Museum of Ireland ... would like to highlight that the text visible on the manuscript does not refer to wiping out Israel but to the 'vale of tears'," the museum said. The vale of tears is in Psalm 84 in the King James version. "It is hoped that this clarification will serve comfort to anyone worried by earlier reports of the content of the text," the museum said.

"Don't panic! Don't panic! Contrary to previous reports, the tribulation is not about to begin. You can all return to your comfort zones..." (joking). The article states that part of Psalm 83 of the Vulgate Bible was legible. It's entirely possible part of previous Psalm will also be discernable, but we'll just have to wait a few months to find out.

Al-Qaeda threatens worldwide Jihad
27/7/06
Al-Qaeda's number two man, Ayman al Zawahri, has warned that the terrorist group will not stand idly by while "these (Israeli) shells burn our brothers", a reference to the ongoing conflict in south Lebanon. The news came as Hizbullah leader Nasrallah meets Iranian nuclear negotiator Larijani and Syrian President Bashar Assad in Damascus, intelligence experts say is a meeting to ensure Iranian arms continue to flow through Syria to Hizbullah. Zawahri warned that the Islamic terror network Al-Qaeda now perceived the whole world as an "open battlefield" for Islamic Jihad against Christians (Crusaders) and Jews (Zionists).

Quote: ""The shells and rockets ripping apart Muslim bodies in Gaza and Lebanon are not only Israeli (weapons), but are supplied by all the countries of the crusader coalition. Therefore, every participant in the crime will pay the price," Al-Zawahri said. Al-Zawahri said Muslims everywhere must rise up to attack "crusaders and Zionists... and support jihad everywhere... until American troops are chased from Afghanistan and Iraq, paralysed and impotent... having paid the price for aggression against Muslims and support for Israel."

It's time for another spot the difference competition. Reuters reported the exact same story as YNet News, and Jerusalem Post, but slanted the report against Israel by portraying Zawahri's comments as a response only to Israeli "atrocities" in Lebanon.

Quote: ""The war with Israel is not based on any agreements or any border disputes ... it is jihad for the sake of Allah, to free all of Palestine from occupation and to rid all the homes of Islam from the crusaders. The whole world is our battlefield."

Reuters failed to mention the real motive behind this Islamic Jihad. It's not about Israel or US policy in the Middle East, it's strictly about the religion of Islam. The terrorists' goal is to make Europe bow to Islam, but apparently Reuters do not want you to know that.

Quote: ""The war with Israel does not depend on ceasefires... It is a Jihad for the sake of Allah and will last until (our) religion prevails ... From Spain to Iraq," Al-Zawahri said. "We will attack everywhere." Spain was controlled by Arab Muslims until they were driven from the country at the turn of the 16th century.

Hizbullah used bombed UN post as cover
27/7/06
UN Secretary General, Kofi Annan, accused Israel yesterday of deliberately attacking a UN outpost, resulting in the deaths of four UNIFIL peacekeepers. The media is reporting that the UN called the IDF around ten times asking them to hold fire. The European Union has called for an investigation into the incident, and China is demanding a full Israeli apology. But questions are now being asked why Kofi Annan did not pull his peacekeepers out of the base days ago. According to UNIFIL reports, Israeli fire has come within close proximity to the base for the past few days. Hizbullah terrorists were using the base as a cover to launch attacks against the IDF, while defenceless UN peacekeepers could only pray they didn't get caught in the crossfire.

Quote: "Another UN position of the Ghanaian battalion in the area of Marwahin in the western sector was also directly hit by one mortar round from the Hezbollah side last night. The round did not explode, and there were no casualties or material damage. Another 5 incidents of firing close to UN positions from the Israeli side were reported yesterday. It was also reported that Hezbollah fired from the vicinity of four UN positions at Alma ash Shab, Tibnin, Brashit, and At Tiri. All UNIFIL positions remain occupied and maintained by the troops.

Retired Canadian Major General Lewis Mackenzie has stated he received emails from one of the soldiers killed in yesterday's bombing, stressing the fact that Hizbullah were operating from inside the UN outpost at the time.

Quote: "We received emails from him a few days ago, and he was describing the fact that he was taking fire within, in one case, three meters of his position for tactical necessity, not being targeted. Now that’s veiled speech in the military. What he was telling us was Hezbollah soldiers were all over his position and the IDF were targeting them. And that’s a favourite trick by people who don’t have representation in the UN. They use the UN as shields knowing that they can’t be punished for it.

While as Christians we despair of any life lost, and mistakes in war can often end in tragedies like this, I cannot take at face value everything reported in the press. Over this past few months I have learned that things are not always what they seem, and the god of this world (that old serpent) is intent on making things as difficult as possible for God's chosen people according to the flesh, before the onslaught of Armageddon.

Isaiah 62:6
I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, [which] shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence, And give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth.

Talks in Rome end without agreement
26/7/06
US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice joined Arab and European politicians in Rome today for talks on a possible solution to the current Middle East conflict. But the only consensus that the participants could come to was that any cease-fire should be "lasting, permanent and sustainable". No agreement was made on the constitution of a United Nations peace keeping force, which is expected to number around 20,000 troops. Israel, Iran and Syria were not invited to express their views at the convention, which is surprising considering all these nations are all involved in the current war in south Lebanon. It appears the US and NATO have been ruled out completely for providing any assistance to this peace keeping operation. The US is seen in the Arab world as too pro-Israel, and its forces are stretched in Afghanistan and Iraq. There have been some suggestions that Egypt and some other Arab nations should send forces to patrol the southern border, but Hosni Mubarak has said that Egypt will not come to the aid of Lebanon in any future war, and that Egypt's army was solely for the defence of the country.

Quote: "In an interview with the newspaper Le Monde, President Jacques Chirac said France could participate in a peace force mandated by the United Nations once there was a ceasefire, but it would be wrong for the U.S.-led alliance to be involved. "Like it or not, NATO is perceived as the armed wing of the West in this region, so in terms of its image, NATO is not right for the job," he said. A German government spokesman said NATO "does not have priority for a possible stabilization force" and ruled out sending the alliance's newly created reaction force. NATO Secretary-General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer said he did not exclude a future role but "this is not the moment".

Once again the UN has shown itself completely incapable of doing anything constructive. This of course leaves only one solution, that the European Union would bridge the gap and send its forces into southern Lebanon to keep the peace.

Quote: "Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the European Union announced that the committee of EU foreign ministers would hold an emergency discussion on the Lebanon crisis next Tuesday.

This link from my friend David... According to Javier Solana, going through the UN was always the difficult route. Perhaps Olmert's previous acceptance of a robust EU peacekeeping force will happen after all (as prophesied).

Quote: "Germany, Greece, Italy and EU candidate Turkey signalled interest, while France has already expressed its willingness. EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana said substantial European involvement was a "real possibility". "It is not an easy force to deploy but we have been working since Wednesday to try to construct a concept that would make it possible to deploy under the umbrella of the U.N. Security Council," Solana told reporters in Brussels. "I think several member states of the European Union will be ready to provide all necessary assistance," he told a joint news conference with Lebanese parliamentary majority leader Saad Hariri after the two discussed the conflict.

Irish worker finds book of Psalms in peat bog
26/7/06
I was sent this by two friends this morning, Tony and another friend from America...

My friend Joe also emailed me this morning and mentioned he was studying Psalm 83 a couple of weeks ago, which he believes is prophetic and may be currently unfulfilled, and is possibly linked with Isaiah 17 and Ezekiel 38-39. But he did not mention this news article which appeared on the net today. The timing of this is truly fascinating. A labourer working in the south of Ireland has accidentally uncovered an ancient book of Psalms as he was digging in a peat bog. The 20 page book is written in Latin and is believed to be dated from around 800-1000AD. Archaeologists from Trinity College, Dublin are studying the artefact and say it could take months just to identify the best way to examine the book without destroying it. But what is most fascinating is the timing of this find in relation to current events, considering the position the book was in when uncovered.

Quote: "He said an engineer was digging up bogland last week to create commercial potting soil somewhere in Ireland's midlands when, "just beyond the bucket of his bulldozer, he spotted something." Wallace would not specify where the book was found because a team of archaeologists is still exploring the site. "The owner of the bog has had dealings with us in past and is very much in favor of archaeological discovery and reporting it," Wallace said. Crucially, he said, the bog owner covered up the book with damp soil. Had it been left exposed overnight, he said, "it could have dried out and just vanished, blown away." The book was found open to a page describing, in Latin script, Psalm 83, in which God hears complaints of other nations' attempts to wipe out the name of Israel.

Friends, I can't believe this is a mere coincidence. That Israel is once again facing the possibility of a major regional war, and a farm hand in Ireland uncovers an ancient prophecy, buried long before Israel became a nation, that's left open at a page that depicts the circumstances Israel now finds itself in. The only thing that parallels this event in my mind is the rediscovery of the book of the law by king Josiah in the Old Testament. His actions resulted in the repentance and turning to God of the entire nation of Israel. Can my nation of Ireland do no less?

Psalm 83:4-8
They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from [being] a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance. For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee: The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes; Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre; Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. Iran sending suicide army to Lebanon
26/7/06
Saudi King Abdullah warned yesterday that if Israel did not halt its hostilities in Lebanon, that the Middle East could be engulfed in a regional war.

Quote: "In a statement read out on state television, the king said: "if the option of peace fails as a result of Israeli arrogance, then the only option remaining will be war, and God alone knows what the region would witness in a conflict that would spare no one."... "It must be said that patience can't last forever, and if the brutal Israeli military continues to kill and destroy, no one can foresee what may happen," the king said.

And Iran and Hizbullah seem to be doing their best to make that happen. Israel has claimed that over 100 Iranian Revolutionary guards have been killed so far in the fighting in Lebanon, and were transported by truck back to Iran across the Syrian border. Iran was also involved in the attack on an Israeli naval stationed off the coast of Lebanon that resulted in the deaths of four soldiers. Up until now Iran has officially stayed out of the war, but that may be changing. The INLA (Iranian National Liberation Army) has reported they are planning to send a squad of suicide bombers to Lebanon.

Quote: "The expeditionary force, dubbed by the Iranian regime as "Loyalists of Islamic Justice," will be the first ever to be sent to Lebanon. According to the report, the force is compiled of seekers of the Shahadah (death for the sake of heaven), who are set to depart from Tehran after the noontime prayer on Wednesday. Other reports claimed that two groups made up of 27 volunteers have already left for Syria on their way to Lebanon. The volunteers' task, after having undergone a months-long training, would be to carry out suicide bombings aimed at wreaking havoc and fear around military and civilian targets. According to the report, the group's mission is to trigger a civil war within the divided Lebanese society, and cause the situation in the country to deteriorate even further.

No doubt Israel will get the blame if any deaths occur as the result of these Iranian suicide bombers. Meanwhile, another "Gaza beach" incident? UN Secretary General, Kofi Annan, has slammed Israel after four UN observers were killed when a UNIFIL base was hit in Lebanon. Prime Minister Olmert has once again apologized for the incident - which was believed to be caused by an Israeli missile, before any of the facts are known. But Olmert was incensed at Kofi Annan's claim... get this... that Israel carried out the attack "deliberately".

Quote: "As reports of the attack emerged, Annan rushed out of a hotel in Rome following a dinner with US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Lebanese Prime Minister Fuad Siniora. "I am shocked and deeply distressed by the apparently deliberate targeting by Israeli Defence Forces of a UN Observer post in southern Lebanon," Annan said in a statement later. Annan said in his statement that the post had been there for a long time and was marked clearly, and was hit despite assurances from Prime Minister Ehud Olmert that UN positions would not be attacked. "I call on the government of Israel to conduct a full investigation into this very disturbing incident and demand that any further attack on UN positions and personnel must stop," Annan said in the statement.

It wouldn't be the first time Israel has got the blame for something that was carried out by Islamic terrorists. Where was Kofi Annan's condemnation of Hizbullah, when one of their rockets slammed into a UN observation post?

Quote: "A U.N.-run observation post just inside Israel was struck during fighting between Israel and Hezbollah militants on Friday. The Israeli army blamed Hezbollah rockets but a U.N. officer said it was an artillery shell fired by the Israeli Defense Force. A U.N. officer, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the situation, said an artillery shell fired by Israel made "a direct hit on the U.N. position overlooking Zarit." The post is part of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon. But an IDF spokesman said the position was hit by rockets fired by Hezbollah that fell short of their targets in northern Israel.

Damascus
Russia spearheading Iran-Syria defence pact
25/7/06
This from my friend Tony...

A commentary written by Hal Lindsay on current events in the Middle East is revealing increasing military co-operation between Russia, Iran and Syria. Russian assistance in Iran's nuclear and missile programmes, along with a newly built Russian naval base in Syria is threatening the regional stability of the Middle East, according to an intelligence briefing presented to President Bush. Hal believes the reason why President Ahmadinejad of Iran has seemingly taken on the international community and won, is because he knows the West does not wish to upset his backers in Moscow who have equipped Iran and Syria with air defence systems to protect their nuclear and military installations. Hal believes this military cooperation is the result of a secretive defence pact signed between the three nations.

Quote: "Russia, Iran and Syria have entered a defense pact that is in the process of altering the balance of power in the entire Middle East. Russia’s part in the pact has been kept relatively secret for a long time. But the facts reveal a long steady Russian commitment to the Iranian nuclear program and arms supply to Syria. A Mossad General shared with me in confidence that he had personally traced the hiring and importation to Iran 283 of the defunct Soviet Union’s top nuclear and missile scientists. This meeting took place in February of 1991.

Hal states that he believes the recent conflagration in the Middle East was purposely created to deflect international attention away from Iran's nuclear programme. It is likely that this nuclear crisis will form one of the hooks (Ezekiel 38:4) that will bring Gog and his armies against the land of Israel in the latter days. Hal believes that because Syria is not specifically listed not being listed among the nations that come against Israel, that the prophecy concerning the destruction of Damascus must happen soon.

Quote: "Syria and the tribal name of its forefathers are not mentioned in the Russian led Muslim Confederacy that launches Armageddon in the middle of the Tribulation. All of this leads me to believe that Damascus will be destroyed before the Tribulation begins. I believe that Damascus is about to so threaten Israel’s existence by either launching or furnishing bio-chemical weapons or radioactive dirty bombs, that Israel will nuke them. Israel has sworn that it will implement the Samson-Option against any nation that attacks them with any form of weapons of mass destruction. That means a thermonuclear strike. This may soon happen to Syria.

But I'm not so sure. Ezekiel 38:6 states that among the nations of Magog (Russia), Persia (Iran), Ethiopia (Sudan), Libya, Gomer and Togarmah (Turkey), that there shall also come "many people with thee". Is it possible that the phrase "many people" could include Israel's enemies in Gaza, the West Bank, Syria and the surrounding Islamic nations? I feel it would take something major to occur before Israel could contemplate using the "Samson option". Israeli Prime Ministers have stated Israel will not be the first ones to use nuclear weapons in Gulf, and they would need to feel significantly threatened before striking Syria in such a manner.

Rapture
Newspapers picking up prophecy alert
24/7/06
A lot of things have been happening in relation to Biblical prophecy this past few weeks. A "proxy" Iranian war in the Middle East, Israeli Prime Minister Olmert calling for an "eternal covenant of peace" with Arab states, and the European Union considering sending a peacekeeping force to the region. It's what most Christians have been expecting for some time, and finally its happening just like the Bible said it would. The speed of events now unfolding in the Middle East have taken many of us by surprise, even though they were recorded in the Bible thousands of years ago for all of us to see. I guess that's what the Lord meant when He said, "Surely I come quickly", meaning his return is imminent (not necessarily soon, but will take place quickly when the time comes).

We've all seen many films on the rapture and tribulation period. Some of my favourites are "Years of the Beast", along with several other films made in the 1980s (I find these films seem to have more of an endearing appeal than some later offerings I've seen). Whether you believe the rapture to occur before or during the tribulation period, we can't escape the fact that it will happen and we are the generation that will witness it. I've often wondered what the news headlines would be on the day after the rapture. Perhaps this is a taster. I just came across this article by the Ottawa Citizen. Rather than presenting a rational investigation into the beliefs of these Christians, along with a critical analysis of prophecies that have been fulfilled in our time (Israel being regathered, etc), this news article merely describes, in a somewhat derogatory way, what various people's views are on what is currently happening in the Middle East.

Quote: "Have you heard of the Rapture? That's the moment when Jesus Christ will take true Christians into heaven prior to his Second Coming. Many of those who believe in the Rapture see great portent in what is now happening in the Middle East.

But unfortunately that's the best pick of a bad bunch. Other newspapers aren't so understanding. I'm not registered with the Vancouver Sun, nor would I want to be, but just reading the introductory paragraph of this article is enough to show how slanted the mainstream media is against Christianity. Yes, apparently us Christians are cheering on Israel to kill more Arabs, in the hope that a major Middle East war will cause the rapture to occur sooner.

Quote: "Thank God for the carnage in the Middle East. That's not my view, but it is the view of many "dispensationalist" Christians, who see in the conflagration evidence of the impending Rapture, the time when good Christians will be lifted up to join the Lord while the rest of us will be left on Earth to face persecution at the hands of the Antichrist.

In reality that's not any Christian's "view", that's a view concocted by the mainstream media in order to portray Christians as a crazed bunch of halfwits that want to bring this world to the brink of global war to fulfil some selfish expectation of being raptured into heaven. And the reason they want to propagate that view is because Satan wants to deflect people's attention from what's really going on in the world. Too many people might get saved otherwise. In reality, we don't wish for war in the Middle East, the Bible specifically teaches us to "pray for the peace of Jerusalem". And so we should, but we cannot pray against God's will. I believe it is unscriptural in some cases to pray for peace - as some denominations have called for, if God has said in His Word there will be no peace. The Lord derided the Old Testament prophets who prophesied peace, when God wanted to use Babylon to accomplish His purposes in Israel. And as we read in Ezekiel 38-39, it is the sovereign will of God that the armies of Gog should be brought against the land of Israel in the latter days. To pray for peace in the case of the Gog Magog war would be futile. Unfortunately the newspapers aren't the only ones carrying this twisted view, claiming that Christians are warmongers...

Quote: "It’s not only the neocons who are happy about the carnage in Lebanon. The extremist fringe of the American Christian right, which believes conflict in the Middle East heralds the End Times and prepares something called Rapture (essentially the spiriting away of real Christians before the anti-Christ makes a mess of the world), is really excited by what’s happening in Lebanon.

Friends, when the Rapture does happen, and only the Lord knows the day and hour, you can bet that it will be the mainstream media who will be instrumental in helping the world "believe the lie". As we can see, the rapture won't be the final evidence for the unbelievers, who will suddenly realize what the Bible has been saying all along is true. If they don't repent and believe the Gospel now, they never will during the tribulation period (Luke 16:31).

2 Thessalonians 2:1-12
And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Israel would accept EU peace force
24/7/06
Thanks for all who sent emails, will take a few days to respond. Meanwhile, getting caught up with what has been happening. Had a good time at Portrush, although please pray for me in regards to my friend Angela, things are difficult at the minute. Thanks for your prayers.

Israeli forces are continuing to press into southern Lebanon in their effort to push Hizbullah back to the Litani river. The IDF hope that this operation will prevent the terrorist organization from launching rockets into northern Israel, and may also pave the way for an international peacekeeping force to be deployed in the region. IDF soldiers have captured the border town of Maroun al-Ras, a Hizbullah stronghold, and are preparing to set up a civil administration in the south of the country. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Olmert has stated that he would be prepared to accept a European peacekeeping force in southern Lebanon, after a meeting with the E3 (Britain, France and Germany). This force could be made up of NATO or the EU, and would monitor the borders between Syria, Lebanon and Israel.

Quote: "Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier on Sunday that Israel would consider permitting the deployment of an experienced European military force in Lebanon. The prime minister added that such a force would have to control passages between Syria and Lebanon, deploy along the Lebanese-Israel border and assist the Lebanese army, especially in case it implements UN Resolution 1559 and works to disarm Hizbullah.

Why specifically a European peacekeeping force and not a US or UN force? As usual we are witnessing the fact that regardless of man's best intentions, ungodly men and women are fulfilling God's Word to the last letter. The European Union will be in a perfect position to create "peace" in the Middle East, ensuring that Ehud Olmert's "covenant of peace" will be confirmed by the Antichrist.

Signs in the sun
Record temperatures hit Europe
22/7/06
This link from my friend Andy...

I am going down to Portrush to a Christian outreach for today and tomorrow morning, so no news updates until then. But please do keep me informed of what's going on if anything significant happens.

Europe has been hit once again by a record breaking heat wave, which has killed dozens of people across the continent. Temperatures in London reached a whopping 36 degrees centigrade, causing the soles of people's shoes to melt on the pavement as they walked. The temperature where I am reached around 30 degrees this past week, which I can tell you is quite unbearable. We've been wearing vest tops in work, leaving our doors and windows wide open, and utilizing every fan available in the office in the hope of getting some relief. In 2003 tens of thousands of people died in Europe as temperatures soared.

Quote: ""Desert London", a headline in Britain's Evening Standard newspaper said over a photo of a parched Hyde Park on Friday. "This is not the Sahara or Serengeti - these remarkable pictures show how London's parks have been turned dry, brown and dusty by the drought," the newspaper said. A severe drought, said to be the worst in a century in the south of England, is making itself felt and temperatures hit a July record of 36.3degC earlier this week.

Global warming or no global warming, things are getting hotter as the Bible predicted. Revelation states that during the tribulation period, things will become so unbearable that men will blaspheme God because of the heat. Astronomers tell us that from around 2007, peaking in 2012, the sun will enter a a cycle of particularly high solar activity, disrupting weather patterns on earth and possibly knocking out communications too. I always thought pollution and the depletion of the ozone layer would fulfil these verses in Revelation, but the Bible states the angel pours out his vial of judgement "on the sun", so perhaps this increased solar activity has something to do with this.

Revelation 16:8-9
And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire. And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.

Rice: "We are seeing birth pangs of new Middle East"
21/7/06
This stunning picture from my friend Javier...

Friends, we were all absolutely dumbfounded when we saw the picture of Prime Minister Olmert, openly stating that Israel is seeking a "covenant of peace", the exact phraseology used by the prophet Daniel to describe the event that would trigger the beginning of the tribulation period (Daniel 9:27). If you have not seen this picture, go now to my 2007-2013 page.

Well my friend Javier has just sent another prophetically explosive image. I am absolutely shocked at what is occurring this week. Condoleezza Rice is scheduled to visit the Middle East by the end of the week. President Bush's administration expressed the opinion that there was little point to calling for a cease fire now, and have this problem raise its ugly head six months down the line, so they have given Israel more time to eliminate the terrorist infrastructure before pressing for an agreement. The Iranian and Syrian Presidents have expressed their opinion that if Hizbullah is defeated by Israel, this will create an entirely new situation in the Middle East, one devoid of Iranian influence. A stable Lebanon and a secure Israel would go someway towards creating a peaceful Middle Eastern region if the war continues, which war US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has apparently stated is the "Birth Pangs of the new Middle East".

Quote: "I think we are beginning to see the outlines of a political framework that might allow the cessation of violence in a more sustainable way, tied to 1559, tied to what is there in the G-8 statement. The elements are becoming quite clear. But I have no interest in diplomacy for the sake of returning Lebanon and Israel to the status quo ante. I think it would be a mistake. What we're seeing here, in a sense, is the growing -- the birth pangs of a new Middle East.

Anybody who knows their Bible will identify immediately with the phrase "birth pangs". Birth pangs are mentioned several times in the Scriptures, but most notably in 1st Thessalonians 5 and Revelation 12. Birth pangs in the literal sense are indicators of how close a child is to birth, and they increase in intensity and frequency as the child is about to be born. In the Scriptural sense, birth pangs are prophetical indicators of how close we are to a particular accomplishment in God's prophetic calendar, and these prophetical indicators also increase in intensity and frequency as we have been seeing. Both 1st Thessalonians 5 and Revelation 12 refer to the tribulation period, and describe the sorrow Israel must go through before she sees her Messiah at the Second Coming of Christ.

1st Thessalonians 5:2-3
For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

Revelation 12:1-2, 5
And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman (Israel) clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars (12 tribes of Israel): And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered. And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.

Friends, this could be it. This could be the beginning of the lead up into the tribulation period. World politicians are not satisfied with the status quo, and it looks like they are going to make the most of Israel's war with Hizbullah as a catalyst for change in the Middle East. That means the covenant Prime Minister Olmert says he is seeking, which will be confirmed by the Antichrist, cannot be far away. As usual, the European Union, and particularly Javier Solana, is at the centre of events...

Quote: "Rice said she was meeting not only with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert but also with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas as well as with allies at a gathering in Rome. Asked why she didn't go earlier and engage in quick-hit diplomacy to try to end the death and destruction that has gripped the region, she replied, "I could have gotten on a plane and rushed over and started shuttling and it wouldn't have been clear what I was shuttling to do."

But as prophesied, the US will not be the ones to broker the deal. According to Daniel's prophecy, that will be left to the European Union...

Quote: "In a letter to Martti Vanhanen, Prime Minister of Finland who currently holds the EU's rotating presidency, Chirac asked that Javier Solana also be charged with a mission to defuse the crisis in Gaza...
The letter noted that the president was reiterating a proposal made in June. He suggested that Solana, who visited Beirut last weekend and was currently in Cairo, work in conjunction with the United Nations to meet with all figures necessary to "very quickly make proposals to reach conditions for a global and lasting cease-fire in the region."

Gay Police Association investigated over "hate" ad
21/7/06
This link from my auntie...

The Gay Police Association of Britain is coming under fire for an advertisement recently published by the group which claims religion (namely Christianity) is one of the main causes of hate crime being perpetrated against homosexuals. The advertisement features a Bible beside a pool of blood, under the caption, "in the name of the Father". The Christian Police Association is up in arms over the poster, which appears to suggest that fundamental Christian beliefs are responsible for some of the terrible offences that are committed against homosexuals. The Gay Police Association is being investigated over the incident, which could amount to an offence itself against Christians.

Quote: "The advert refers to a 74% increase in 'homophobic incidents' reported to the GPA. Earlier this year the GPA announced that telephone calls about "faith-based homophobia" made to its helpline had increased from 8 to 14 in one year. Maybe this is where the 74% in the advert comes from. Certainly this is not an official figure. A 'homophobic incident' is not the same thing as a crime. It is an administrative record of a complaint to the police (not the GPA). The technical definition of a 'homophobic incident' given by the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) is "Any incident which is perceived to be homophobic by the victim or any other person." So merely saying that homosexuality is wrong could constitute an incident if someone perceives it to be 'homophobic'. This has happened to the Bishop of Chester, Phillip Jenson (Dean of Sydney Cathedral), Joe & Helen Roberts and Lynette Burrows. It seems they were all thought to be "perpetrators" of a "homophobic incident". None of them committed any crime. All believe that homosexual practice is morally wrong.

I remember reading of an elderly Christian couple in England not so long ago, who complained to their local council when homosexual posters appeared in their town close to their church. They merely asked if the posters could be taken down, and instead of receiving a reply, two police officers knocked on their door and quizzed them for several hours over this "homophobic incident".

In other news, it seems that the Jerusalem GayPride week has been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances. My friend James summed it up well, "Will God grant victory to Israel over her Muslim enemies while the State of Israel approves and encourages and wallows in this kind of abomination? The State of Israel prays to God for deliverance and celebrates homosexuality with the whole world simultaneously". It's maybe just as well the event was cancelled. As James says, when Israel goes to war they are commanded to separate themselves from all sin.

Quote: "Lazer Brody, an author and dean of the Breslov Rabbinical College in Ashdod, Israel, concurred with Winston. "When God’s presence is in the camp, nothing can happen to the Jewish people," Brody stated. "But If the Jewish people bring impurity into the camp of Israel, this chases away God's presence." Brody contends the "removal of God's presence" led to the recent violence here, but he said he still feels the Jewish state is being protected. "Over 1,000 Katyusha rockets have been fired thus far, and the damage has been equivalent to scratches," Brody said. Before becoming a rabbi, Brody served for many years in the Israeli army, where he fought in combat missions in Beirut during Israel's incursion into Lebanon in the early 1980's. He said the public display of homosexuality in Jerusalem "soils the camp of Israel with impurity, and pushes away the divine presence and protection."

Deuteronomy 23:14
For the LORD thy God walketh in the midst of thy camp, to deliver thee, and to give up thine enemies before thee; therefore shall thy camp be holy: that he see no unclean thing in thee, and turn away from thee.

EU Commission completes study on RFID
21/7/06
My friend Adam sent me a link something similar to this. I'm in work at the minute, so I couldn't find it again, but this is interesting nonetheless...

The European Union has completed a three month study into the potential uses and caveats of RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) technology. The European Commission has taken it upon itself to define "globally accepted interoperability standards and practices with regard to data privacy and ethical principles when applying the technology". RFID workshops were set up by the EU in Brussels last March to study the new technology. The European Commission plans to publish the results of this public consultation in September as a "working document", which will later be adopted - presumably worldwide, at the end of this year.

Quote: "The European Commission has therefore launched a comprehensive public consultation on the technology, starting with a series of workshops to build consensus on key issues. These workshops will take place in Brussels between March and June 2006 and their conclusions will assist the European Commission in drafting a working document on RFID. This document will be published in September in an online consultation. The additional feedback will then be analysed and integrated in a Commission Communication on RFID, to be adopted before the end of the year – and could lead to amendments of the Privacy and electronic communications Directive of 2002, which is up for review this year.

The article my friend Adam had sent to me detailed how European supermarkets are openly embracing this new technology despite privacy and security concerns. I said before, RFID will become a major money-saver for retail companies. Time is money, and passing an RFID chip through a scanner takes a lot less time and money than counting cash or lodging cheques. As a result, less time spent means less staff to man checkouts which in turn means bigger savings for the company. As a result, RFID will be forced on the consumer public with little or no say in the matter. But major companies are taking note of consumer concerns, and are taking the "softly, softly" approach. Marks & Spencers has announced plans to mark its products with barcode labels that are laced with RFID chips. So while we won't notice anything different, the technology will be already present to implement the "Mark of the Beast" system when it finally comes in. Marks & Spencers claims it will not put RFID tags through the till, it will instead scan the barcode labels, but I wonder how long that policy will continue when they realize the money they could be saving by using RFID only.

Quote: "In mid-February, Marks & Spencer unveiled plans to expand item-level tagging to clothes that come in more complex, wide-ranging sizes, such as bras, and a year from now, it will affix RFID tags to apparel in six departments across 53 stores to keep better track of clothing. Instead of using separate RFID tags and bar-code labels, as it has done in the past, Marks & Spencer is working with Paxar Corp., a merchandising-systems and -label supplier for the apparel industry, to develop a 5-inch paper label that will integrate the RFID chip and bar code in the same label. The chips, which will store serial numbers unique to each product, are from EM Microelectronics-Marin SA, a Swatch Group Ltd. company. Clerks will take inventory at the end of each day by scanning the RFID chips on items remaining on the floor with 868-MHz handheld readers. At registers, clerks will scan bar codes rather than RFID information to allay any concerns that the RFID data will be connected to individual buyers, Marks & Spencer says. Labels on the tags and pamphlets in the store will explain that the RFID chip is an intelligent label for stock control, Stafford says. Clerks will continue the practice of offering customers the option of removing the tags in the stores.

Iran asks German help for "Palestinian problem"
20/7/06
Two Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces operating in the Gaza Strip this afternoon. Israel has decided to step up pressure on terrorist groups operating in the Strip, warning that they will no longer tolerate rockets being fired from the territory into Israeli towns. The IDF distributed fliers to Gaza residents stating that those found storing munitions in their homes could find their houses demolished by an IAF missile. Although the Jerusalem Post does not state much about the incident, it is remarkably different from that of the BBC's version of events. It's time for another spot the difference competition...

Quote: "Palestinian officials said one person was shot dead in the Mughazi camp. An earlier Israeli air attack on the camp left one dead and 20 injured.

Quote: "An Israeli air strike Thursday night in the Gaza refugee camp of Mughazi killed one armed Palestinian, Palestinian hospital officials said. The Palestinian was the third person killed during fighting in the camp on Thursday. The army said it attacked a group of gunmen in the camp.

You guessed it. The BBC fails to mention that these Palestinians were carrying guns, and therefore were most likely Fatah or Hamas members. In any normal society people don't go around carrying guns in the streets, and therefore the reader of the BBC article is left with the impression that these were innocent civilians. But the BBC goes further than that...

Quote: "The Gaza offensive also aims to stop rocket launches by Palestinian militants, who say such attacks are in retaliation for Israeli action against them.

Hold on a second... What was Hamas doing when Israel was evacuating around 9000 of its people from Gaza? I think you'll find the answer is they were stepping up their Kassam rocket attacks on Israel, and the BBC knows that only too well. This insert by the BBC is here solely for the intension of justifying Palestinian violence. In light of all this violence emanating from the Gaza Strip, President Ahmadinejad is continuing to concern himself with the "Palestinian problem", I believe in an effort to deflect attention from his nuclear efforts. The President has written a letter to German Chancellor Angela Merkel, asking her for help to find a solution to Zionism and the Palestinian problem. Earlier in the year, Ahmadinejad criticized Europe, saying that if Europeans felt so guilty about killing Jews during the Holocaust, that they should have created a homeland for them in Europe, and not in middle of the Islamic world.

Quote: ""It's not negative like Ahmadinejad's letter to Bush. He is not criticizing Germany," he said. "It's basically about how we have to work together and solve the problems of the world together." In February, Merkel compared Ahmadinejad's statements and stance to Adolf Hitler's rise to power when he and his Nazi party began threatening to exterminate European Jewry. "Remember that in 1933 many people said it was just rhetoric," Merkel said. The German official said it was interesting that the letter did not discuss Iran's nuclear standoff with the United States, European Union and other countries.

It didn't discuss it, because he doesn't want to bring attention to it. At least until August 22nd.

Russia and UN anger at Israeli "war crimes"
20/7/06
While UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, WEU Secretary General Javier Solana and US Secretary of State meet today to discuss the details on the creation of a Lebanese "peace keeping" force, the United Nations slammed Israel over civilian deaths in Lebanon and warned that IAF and IDF officers may face UN military tribunals for "war crimes" the UN believes they have committed in the war-torn state. Louise Arbour, the High Commissioner for Human Rights at the UN, made the comments as Israel comes under increasing pressure from various groups to halt the strikes on Hizbullah. There seems to be a mistake in one of these quotations though. Possibly YNet News has left a bit out of Mrs Arbour's statement, changing the meaning significantly. In this case I think the BBC's version is probably the right one this time...

Quote: ""Indiscriminate shelling of cities constitutes a foreseeable and unacceptable targeting of civilians," she said in a statement released by her office in Geneva. "Similarly, the bombardment of sites with alleged innocent civilians is unjustifiable." "Hizbullah fighters too are bound by the rules of international humanitarian law, and they must not target civilian areas," it said, referring to the indiscriminate shelling of Israeli cities.

Quote: ""Indiscriminate shelling of cities constitutes a foreseeable and unacceptable targeting of civilians," Ms Arbour said. "Similarly, the bombardment of sites with alleged military significance, but resulting invariably in the killing of innocent civilians, is unjustifiable."

When you are fighting a war, innocent people will always get caught in the middle, that is an unfortunate fact. The Israeli pilots do their best to ensure no civilians are around at the time of the bombings, but mistakes are invariably made. That may be the price that has to be paid in order to defend the innocent civilians who have become the targets of this Syro-Iranian sponsored onslaught. How many more deaths might have occurred had Israel just stepped back and let the UN dictate the rules? Just look at Sudan for an example of UN "peace keeping" policy. Around 1.5 million Christians dead in 20 years, while the world turned a blind eye. Only recently has the region caught the world's attention, and what has the UN achieved in that time?

Russia has also expressed its anger at the Lebanese death toll, and accused Israel of going far beyond what was required, while calling for an immediate cease-fire and the release of the captured Israeli soldiers.

Quote: ""The unprecedented scale of victims and destruction bear witness to the fact that the actions that were announced to (free captured Israeli servicemen) have gone far beyond the bounds of an anti-terrorist operation," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement. (Reuters)

The Lebanese Prime Minster Siniora has also warned Israel if they enter Lebanon, they will be fighting a de facto war with the Lebanese army, adding that he could not keep Syria and Iran at bay from what is happening in his country. Meanwhile, the European Commission is working hard to ease the escalating crisis, pledging 10 million Euros to help those fleeing the country. At his meeting with President Abbas of the Palestinian Authority, Javier Solana also expressed his desire that a a solution would soon be found...

Quote: ""We have a sentiment of tragedy, which urges all of us to do all we can to stop what was going on as soon as possible," Solana told reporters after meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Gaza city over intensive Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon. "We don't want to see responses that would result in tremendous physical and human losses for civilians," he added.

Philippines volcano erupts causing mass evacuation
20/7/06
If it's not Java, it's Sicily. And if it's not Sicily, it's the Philippines. All these locations are suffering from the threat of active volcanoes that are currently spewing dust and molten rock into the sky, threatening thousands of lives. Recent earthquake activity in Java triggered a tsunami earlier in the week that killed over 500 people. And a few months before that, thousands fled their homes as an earthquake increased volcanic activity in Java's Mount Merapi. Europe's largest active volcano in Sicily, Mount Etna, has been throwing rocks and dust hundreds of feet into the air for the last few days, and shows no sign of abating. And now Mount Mayon in the Philippines is threatening thousands of people, as lava flows from its peak.

Quote: "Mount Mayon, the most active of 22 volcanoes in the Southeast Asian country, began spewing lava, ash and rocks the size of cars last week, prompting volcanologists to raise the alert level to 3 on a 1-5 scale. The government has told 4,000 people to evacuate a danger zone of 6 km (4 miles) around the summit but many have refused to leave their homes and farms until the alert level was raised anew as officials set up relief centres to house and feed them.

Wars and rumours of wars
Assad calls for Hizbullah ceasefire
19/7/06
But don't hold your breath... It seems President Assad of Syria has blinked first, and is calling Hizbullah to cease its activities on the Lebanese border, but whether Hizbullah agrees to lay down their rockets is another matter entirely. Assad also made no mention of the captured IDF soldiers, so it is doubtful that Israel will be willing to curtail its attacks on Hizbullah strongholds. Assad had stated in a meeting with his Iranian counterpart that a total defeat for Hizbullah would deal a significant blow to Syrian and Iranian influence in the region. Instead Hizbullah can surrender now and carry on the struggle at a later date.

Quote: "According to Israeli estimations and reports in Arab media, Syria and Iran are working to support Hizbullah and help it survive the conflict with Israel. The aim is to safeguard the organization so that it can serve the two states in a future confrontation, around Iran's nuclear program for example. Qatari newspaper al-Watan said that Damascus and Teheran reached an agreement according to which a Hizbullah defeat must be avoided, and that supporting this organization and Palestinian organizations in the territory will serve the strategic interests of Damascus and Teheran.

Meanwhile, Hizbullah continues to kill Israeli civilians, this time in the predominately Christian-Arab town of Nazareth. This time, two Israeli children were killed while playing in the streets. The Israeli Foreign Ministry points out that this was a coordinated attack on a Christian community.

Quote: "A short time after the strike on Nazareth, the Foreign Ministry's senior officials held a meeting. "They do not distinguish between Jews and Arabs and Christians. These rockets strike out of intention a holy city to Christianity, to send a message. Their ability to direct these rockets have been proven. There's no doubt that they planned to hit one of the central places of faith for Christians, a symbol of hundreds of millions around the world," a Foreign Ministry official said. Ambassadors were told that it "it is just a coincidence that an ancient church was not struck there, a center for many Christian pilgrims."

This from LittleGreenFootballs. You may not realize it, but there is already a UN presence in Lebanon, called UNIFIL. It's this force that Kofi Annan and Javier Solana are so keen to upgrade to a possible 8000 strong standing army. UNIFIL aren't a "peace keeping" force, i.e. they don't have the authority to kill Hizbullah terrorists, but they do monitor the border, keeping an ever watchful eye on everything that's going on...

Quote: "Relations between Israel and the United Nations plummeted after information emerged that U.N. peacekeepers on the Lebanon border suppressed video tapes of three soldiers being abducted by Hizbullah guerrillas in 2000. UNIFIL denied the charge, but the U.N. later admitted unintentionally concealing evidence from Israel. "We know that they had line of sight and could see the actual kidnapping. They could have put roadblocks up to prevent Hizbullah from escaping. But they didn't lift a finger," said Dore Gold, former Israeli ambassador to the U.N.

And when everything is quiet, there is always time for a relaxing cup of tea...

Quote: "An Israeli commander at the Lebanese border recalls peering through binoculars one afternoon to see U.N. peacekeepers sipping tea with Hizbullah guerrillas.

Solana meets Israeli Foreign Minister
19/7/06
Israeli Foreign Minister Livni, held a joint press conference this morning with EU High Representative for the Common, Foreign and Security Policy, Javier Solana on the ongoing crisis in the Middle East. Tzipi Livni stated that Israel was facing a regional threat, and that it was now time to end the crisis through negotiations. I don't know if this represents a change from Prime Minister Olmert's policy that Israel would take another five days to mop up in Lebanon, if it is there is no doubt our friend Javier Solana had something to do with that.

Quote: ""Israel and the international community have the common goal to initiate a move that will bring a long-term change in the region and prevent the terror that Israelis and Lebanese are facing," said Livni. "Our interest is to bring a better future for the region," she said. "We demand the immediate and unconditional release of the three abducted soldiers: Gilad Shalit, Ehud Goldwasser, and Eldad Regev. Israel is not going negotiate with the Hizbullah and there is no anticipation in the international community that we do it. It's clear that there is a strategic goal here – the understanding that we are facing a regional threat, and that Israel and Lebanon has no real disagreement."

This "regional threat", i.e. the Syro-Iranian axis (is that a word?), coupled with Hizbullah and Hamas in Lebanon and the Palestinian territories, will provide the ideal staging grounds for the EU to test its new crisis management tool, a.k.a. Recommendation 666. The UN Secretary General has already called for EU assistance in the region, and if Prime Minister Olmert is going to get his "covenant of peace", Javier Solana will probably need troops in Syria, Lebanon, the Palestinian territories and possibly Egypt (which has been suffering lately from a wave of Al Qaeda attacks). Libya and Sudan are also mentioned in Scripture as being occupied by the Antichrist's forces in Daniel 11:43, both countries currently hotbeds of Islamic terrorism.

But Solana, always true to form, does not want to upset Hizbullah either. He stated today that Europe would not list Hizbullah as a terrorist organization, despite its targeting of Israeli civilians in suicide bombings and support from Iran and Syria.

Quote: "The United Nations [ed. European Union] High Representative of the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) Javier Solana said during a press conference with Minister of Foreign Affairs Tzipi Livni that the UN has no sufficient data to determine whether the Hizbullah can be included in the list of terror organizations. He also added that the issue at hand is legal, not ethical. (Ronny Sofer)

I doubt that the EU has "sufficient data" to determine this, a more likely explanation is that Solana wants to butter up Hizbullah so they will work with him, as he is presently doing with Iran. The European Union sees Hizbullah much like the current UK government perceives Sinn Fein (or the PUP, etc), as a political organization with ties to terrorism. In my opinion, if it barks it must be a dog. Likewise, any organization that resorts to violence to achieve a political end is a terrorist organization, and ought to be branded as such. Even the Russians are pretty upset with Hizbullah's "terrorist activities"...

Quote: "Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov on Saturday warned that other nations could be drawn into the escalating Middle East conflict, which he called "a war that has begun." Ivanov appealed to the Islamic extremist group Hezbollah to stop using "terrorist methods" and said both sides must exercise restraint. "We call on Hezbollah to stop resorting to any terrorist methods including attacking neighbouring states," Ivanov said.

French MP calls for military action against Israel
19/7/06
This again from LittleGreenFootballs...

While most media organizations and politicians are now in support of Israel's very own "war on terror", and now blame Hizbullah and its Iranian and Syrian support for creating this crisis, there are some leftwing nuts who are still trying to portray this conflict as Israeli aggression against Lebanon. Forget the Pope and the French President, who merely accused Israel of a "disproportionate response" while over 800 rockets a day rained down on the country. French Minister of Parliament, Jacques Myard, is accusing Israel of deliberately targeting civilians and calling for French military action against Israel to protect its nationals in Lebanon. This despite over one thousand sorties being launch against Hizbullah positions since the start of the war, and thousands of targets being destroyed with comparably limited civilian casualties. If Israel was hitting a lot of civilians, you can bet the liberal media would be making the most of it. There have been a number of Lebanese deaths, but as they say there will always be some "collateral damage" in any war, especially when Syrian trucks are coming across the border to rearm Hizbullah, disguised as civilian vehicles.

Quote: Jacques Myard MP states - "Multiple direct testimonials from Lebanon are coming from French people residing in South Lebanon, and particularly Tyre, according to which the Israeli army is shooting at first sight on everything that moves, and notably on civilians. These French saw a helicopter kill a whole family, including the children, by shooting at their minivan on sight and from a few meters afar, as they were fleeing the conflict zone. The church at Rachaya is said to have been destroyed while it was packed with refugees.

And this view isn't a French problem. It seems the BBC is still reluctant to accept that Hizbullah, supported by Iran and Syria, is responsible for this escalation in violence. Another liberal reporter in the Biased Broadcasting Corporation, Jonathan Beale, accuses the US of trying to deflect international attention away from Israel and onto Hizbullah, and openly questions Syrian involvement in Lebanon despite the Syrian government's statement of support for the group's actions against Israel.

Quote: "The BBC's Jonathan Beale in Washington says the US strategy is becoming clearer - to turn international attention and anger away from Israel's actions, and to focus on those of Hezbollah and Syria instead. But he adds that some will question the evidence of blatant Syrian interference in Lebanon

I would partially understand if these comments were part of an editorial on the situation in Lebanon, but the fact they are inserted into a news article, which is meant to be reporting facts - not opinions, goes to show how low the BBC is willing to go to mould public opinion against Israel and the US. "Who" will question Syrian involvement in Israel, and "how" does Jonathan Beale know that blaming Syria is just a US strategy and the source of the problem, are questions that the reader should be asking themselves, rather than taking Jonathan Beale's or the BBC's word as facts.

Hizbullah ready to attack targets worldwide
18/7/06
This from LittleGreenFootballs...

Hizbullah terrorist cells stand ready to attack US and Jewish interests worldwide, according to a recent statement made by the organization, if and when the Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei gives the order. While Iran actively supports Hizbullah in its war against the Jewish nation, the fighting has up until now been limited to Lebanon and Israel. In the event of an attack on Iranian or Syrian soil, it is possible other countries could soon find themselves dragged into a wider war by Hizbullah's Islamic army of suicide bombers...

Quote: ""We have 2,000 volunteers who have registered since last year," said Iranian Hizbollah's spokesman Mojtaba Bigdeli, speaking by telephone from the central seminary city of Qom. "They have been trained and they can become fully armed. We are ready to dispatch them to every corner of the world to jeopardise Israel and America's interests. We are only waiting for the Supreme Leader's green light to take action. If America wants to ignite World War Three ... we welcome it," he said.

US and Israeli intelligence had warned back in April (once again we see this war has been planned by Iran and Syria), that Hizbullah possessed an extensive terror network that was capable of causing severe disruption on an international scale.

Quote: "Iran has readied an "army" of 40,000 suicide bombers to strike targets all over the Western world and Israel as a response to a possible attack on their nuclear facilities, the British Sunday Times reported Sunday morning. Two senior officials from the Homeland Security Agency, who spoke on condition of anonymity, agreed with the prediction and warned that Iran could set a worldwide terror network into motion in the US and elsewhere. They added that an attack on Iran would be much more dangerous to the US than was the strike on Iraq.

And if you think this threat is limited to Israel, Lebanon, Syria, Iran or other Middle Eastern countries, think again. Hizbullah aren't the only group that is advocating a global jihad against Christians and Jews. The Islamic axis in Britain is alive and well. This from a man based in the UK...

Quote: "The speaker asked, rhetorically, what can be done. He answered, "From the time the (heathen) Briton, American and Israel enter Muslims lands, it's the right of all Muslims now. It is global jihad! When the jihad has spread all over the world, occupation has spread to every country in the Muslim lands. Now it has become a war declared openly (and) the jihad affects every single Muslim. (We encourage every Muslim) to fight the jihad physically, financially and verbally - all three - so (those who are) far away from the fight or can't reach it... can still support... the jihad... We can incite the believers; we can promote the jihad and Mujahideen. Let the (heathen) know they are not just fighting a few Muslims in Beirut, but 1.5 billion Muslims worldwide... United we will condemn them in London, speak out asking Allah to destroy them; no two states. We are going to ask Allah to destroy them completely so that there is not one left; every single one is dead in Israel. Give victory to the Muslims and destroy all of our enemies."

Annan calls for a "large" presence in Lebanon
18/7/06
The Secretary General of the United Nations, Kofi Annan, has called for a considerably large peace keeping force to be deployed in Lebanon, during a meeting with the EU Commission President Manuel Barosso today. Kofi Annan has asked the EU if they would contribute to this international peace keeping force. Both Russia and Indonesia, along with several other countries, have also expressed a desire to send their own troops to the region.

Quote: "British Prime Minister Tony Blair said yesterday that the force must have more bite and "far greater" numbers than UNIFIL, which was set up in March 1978 to oversee the volatile border region between Lebanon and Israel. Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi talked of 8,000 troops, but the United States has appeared cautious, stressing that all the leaders had done was to ask the United Nations to consider deployment.

Israel has recently extended the operation in Lebanon for a further five days. The IDF believes it has destroyed around 50% of the fighting capacity of Hizbullah, but needs more time to prevent further attacks from happening. Some Knesset members are calling on the Israeli Prime Minister to strike Syria now, and put an end to Hizbullah and Hamas once and for all.

Quote: ""Ceasefire is a mistaken concept - we need deterrence. We need to aim, not for a temporary agreement, but rather a permanent, written agreement between Israel, Lebanon, and the quartet. In the event of a temporary ceasefire, terrorists will merely use the quiet in order to rearm and recruit, and the situation will begin all over again," Lieberman continues. In his opinion, Israel must resist a ceasefire that does not comply with the three aforementioned conditions and also, exert pressure on Syria. To a certain degree, he claims, we should extend operations to Syria. "Assad is panicking. We can squash him so hard that he would quickly quit his involvement with and support of Hizbullah. We have at our disposal the means and the opportunity to exert pressure on Syria. For example, we could attack airports, the Beirut-Damascus road and other things that I recommended to the prime minister. Assad knows that American forces are sitting on one side of his borders and that our forces are sitting on the other side. "We could squash him," Lieberman repeated, "Notice that he hasn't said a word, publicly, about Hizbullah."

President Bush also blames President Assad of Syria for escalating the situation, and has told Prime Minister Tony Blair that the only way the situation can become calm is to end Syrian support for the terrorist groups in the Middle East. On the Iranian front, President Ahmadinejad accused Israel of trying to occupy Lebanon today, and recommitted himself to his own August 22nd deadline for responding to the European nuclear offer, much to the frustration of EU politicians. Iran I believe is purposely holding back from publicly joining the war against Israel, possibly at least until they can announce to the world they have a nuclear weapon or something similar. Ahmadinejad's promises that the world will soon witness the end of the "Zionist regime" are too bold to pass off as mere gesture.

Damascus
EU: Israel ready to strike Syria
18/7/06
Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, who recently shook hands with Javier Solana during his meeting in Teheran over the Iranian nuclear crisis, will be arriving in Damascus soon. The IDF reported that over 70 locations in northern Israel were hit by Hizbullah rockets last night, although most of the rockets fell in open places. Hizbullah leader Nasrallah has so far rejected Israel's conditions for a cease-fire, which include the cessation of all rocket attacks on Israel, the release of the IDF soldiers captured by Hizbullah, and the complete disarmament of the terrorist organization according to UN resolution 1559. The Iranian Foreign Minister - who denied there even is such a country as Israel during questions about Iran's nuclear programme, was sent to Damascus to urge Hizbullah to curb its attacks against Israel. A European nation had apparently warned Iran that Israel was ready to strike Syria if there was no let up in the attacks. Iran and Syria recently signed a mutual defence pact, and Syria has warned of a "harsh response" if Israel carries out attacks in its territory.

Quote: "Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki was sent to Damascus to urge Hizbullah to curb rocket attacks against Israel and to release two Israel Defense Forces soldiers captured a week ago in order to avoid further escalations, a London-based Arabic daily reported. Al-Sharq al-Awsat reported that a European country warned Iran that Israel is ready for a confrontation with Syria, which recently signed a defense alliance with Iran. The alliance stipulates that Iran would send arms and troops to back Syria should Damascus be attacked.

Olmert: Israel seeks "covenant of peace"
17/7/06
This fascinating link was sent to me by several friends, Javier and Stephen...

Friends, I still find everything we have witnessed this past few days extremely hard to take in, as many of you also do, but the following news seems to be the icing on the cake in regards to Biblical prophecy this week. Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert addressed the Israeli Knesset and nation this afternoon, concerning the ongoing operations in the Gaza Strip and south Lebanon. He stated everything possible was being done to avoid this conflict in disengaging from Gaza and the West Bank, but that Israel's enemies had been mistaken in thinking Israel's "willingness to pull back and show restraint is a sign of weakness". Olmert stated that the operations in the north and south would continue until the safe return of the kidnapped Israeli soldiers. The Prime Minister also stated that a strong Lebanon was a key to preventing terrorism and instability in the Middle East, and said in his address that he hoped Israel could soon sign an "eternal covenant of peace" with their neighbours. He finished his speech by quoting from the book of Jeremiah.

Quote: "Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said Monday that he hoped an "eternal covenant" could soon be signed between Israel and its neighbours. "Israel didn't want these confrontations, on the contrary, we did our utmost to avoid them by withdrawing to borders recognized by the international community," said the prime minister. Olmert added that Israel had no business in involving itself with the internal struggles within Lebanon and the Palestinian Authority adding, "our problem is with the terrorists attacking us from those territories."

Prime Minister Olmert is speaking of the soon fulfilment of two prophesies in one address to the Knesset. One, that Israel would withdraw to internationally recognized borders as mentioned in Joel 3:2 and Zechariah 12. Two, that Israel would sign a peace agreement or "covenant", the exact words used by Daniel to describe this peace treaty, with the surrounding nations.

Joel 3:2
I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land.

Daniel 9:27
And he (Antichrist) shall confirm the covenant with many for one week (seven years): and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it (Temple) desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

This "covenant" will of course, according to Daniel, fail catastrophically in the middle of the tribulation period, and result in the greatest persecution for Israel they have ever witnessed. The Hebrew prophets spoke of these days we are now living in, and we are privileged to witness it. God's Word has come to pass, is coming to pass, and will continue to come to pass regardless of what man says. Whether you believe we will go through the tribulation or not, the Bible states there is only one acceptable time to be saved.

2nd Corinthians 6:2
Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

The Bible says that all those who haven't accepted Christ's offer of salvation will face eternal separation from God in hell and then the lake of fire. Those who accept Jesus Christ's sacrifice for their sins will be delivered and possess everlasting life in heaven. Friends, these things are real and happening now in our lifetimes, don't wait until it's too late.

Dozens dead after tsunami hits Java
17/7/06
Dozens of people are dead and many still missing after six metre waves crashed along the coast of the terror stricken island of Java this afternoon. An earthquake measuring 7.7 on the Richter Scale was reported 160 miles south of the island, triggering a tsunami which destroyed coastal villages. This tsunami is only expected to cause local damage, although neighbouring nations are monitoring the situation. The island of Java has been hit several times by earthquakes in recent months, the latest of which triggered increased volcanic activity on Mount Merapi, forcing thousands of residents to flee their homes. Java is part of Indonesia, which was the focus of the December 2004 earthquake that resulted in a tsunami that left hundreds of thousands dead in a dozen nations.

Quote: ""Rows of houses along the coast were swept away, the waves did not go far inland," Dr. Puji Pujiono, regional disaster response adviser for the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, said by telephone from Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Today's quake "generated cascading tsunami waves between three-and-six meters; the largest wave by far was six meters," he said, noting there was damage, not "devastation."

Events like these will of course increase in magnitude as the great tribulation approaches, as prophesied in the Scriptures.

Luke 21:25-26
And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

Russia and EU vie for Mid East role
17/7/06
Israel has reported that IDF ground forces have entered southern Lebanon, in an effort to push back Hizbullah forces operating near the border. Although Defence Minister Peretz has stated that Israel did not want to reoccupy Lebanon, or sink in the "Lebanese swamp", ground forces have entered the country to create a security zone that will be filled by the Lebanese army, and possibly a peace keeping force comprised of several nations. Russia is once again trying to exert its influence over the fragile Middle Eastern region. Putin is suggesting that Russia should play a part in this international peace keeping force that will be deployed in southern Lebanon. The European Union is also deciding what role they will play in the affair. Javier Solana flew out of Lebanon today, and is expected to brief his EU comrades on what he discussed with the Lebanese Prime Minister.

Quote: "Putin says Russia will consider contributing troops to an international force for the Mideast if UN approves deployment.

Quote: "The European Union said Monday it was weighing the deployment of a peacekeeping force to Lebanon to help end fighting between Israel and Hizbullah. "It could be that the European Union, or the United Nations, might have a peacekeeping role," said Finnish Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomoija, whose country now holds the EU presidency.

Things are clearly being put in place for the end times prophesy of Ezekiel 38-39. The armies of Gog, which many Christians believe to be Russia, is prophesied to come against Israel at a time of peace. While that peace has not yet come, a Russian force will be in the Middle East, ready for when it does come about. And of course as I said earlier, the European Union will set up its bases in Israel and across the Middle East, in an effort to "keep the peace".

Meanwhile, two evil men are meeting in Damascus for talks on the current crisis. Iranian Foreign Minister Mottaki, who previously denied Israel even existed when quizzed about concerns over Iranian nuclear issues, is meeting his counterpart in Syria.

Quote: ""We believe that we should think of an acceptable and fair [deal] to resolve this," he said. "In fact, there can be a cease-fire followed by a prisoner swap." "The circumstances prevailing in the region are not in the interests of the Zionist entity," he said. "The attack launched by Israel was orchestrated."

Talking about orchestration, I was just thinking about this article I wrote back in April 06. Iran and Hizbullah were planning this attack two months ago.

Blair and Annan request international peace force
17/7/06
British Prime Minister Tony Blair and UN Secretary General Kofi Annan have called for an international peace keeping force to be deployed in the Middle East in order to stop the conflict between Israel and Hizbullah. Both men clearly believe that Hizbullah leader Nasrallah has absolutely no intention of halting the daily rocket attacks against Israeli towns, nor is interested in making peace with Israel.

Quote: ""The only way we're going to get a cessation of hostilities is if we have the deployment of an international force into that area that can stop the bombardment coming over into Israel and therefore gives Israel a reason to stop its attacks on Hizbullah," Blair said after meeting with Annan. "The only way then that this is going to work ... Is if we actually give people a reason for ceasing hostilities." Annan appealed to Israel to abide by international law and spare civilian lives and infrastructure.

And this is exactly what the Bible states will happen during the tribulation period. It seems in response to some sort of crisis in the Middle East, the Antichrist sends forces into the region to guarantee the peace.

Daniel 11:41-43
He (Antichrist) shall enter also into the glorious land (Israel), and many [countries] shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, [even] Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon (all Jordan). He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape. But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt: and the Libyans and the Ethiopians (Sudanese) [shall be] at his steps.

In other news, an IDF soldier was killed and five of his colleagues wounded when Palestinian terrorists belonging to Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah organization threw a blast bomb at a patrol in the city of Nablus (Shechem). Following the attack, hundreds of Palestinians came to pay their respects to the dead soldier.

Quote: "Some body parts of the dead soldier were left behind, Palestinian witnesses said. Hundreds of Palestinians later gathered at the scene to view parts of the soldier's leg, and many of them reacted with celebratory chants, the witnesses said. The Al Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, affiliated with the Fatah Party, took responsibility for the attack. Fatah is led by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

Solana flown into Beirut today
16/7/06
Our man of the moment, Javier Solana, the High Representative for the European Common, Foreign and Security Policy, is being flown into Beirut today for urgent talks on the continuing crisis in the Middle East. His work will be cut out for him, as the US and Israel have stated they are not interested in a cease fire agreement while Hizbullah rockets continue to rain down on Israeli towns. 20 Israelis have been killed and at least 600 hospitalised since the war began. Around 120 Lebanese have been killed, although possibly most of these are Hizbullah fighters. Israel's Prime Minister Olmert has stated that Israel will not end the offensive until the captured Israeli soldiers are released and Hizbullah is pulled back from the border. But that is unlikely, as Hizbullah leader Nasrallah, has promised that Israel will witness "more surprises", this time on land. This is an apparent reference to the attack on the Israeli naval vessel by Iranian made rockets, which resulted in the deaths of four men.

Quote: "European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana is being transported to Beirut for talks over the dramatic escalation in Middle East violence, Britain's Defense Ministry said Sunday. Solana is being flown from a base in Cyprus to Lebanon by British military helicopter, but defense officials said they were not aware who the official was due to meet for discussions. "At the request of the EU presidency, UK helicopters are flying Javier Solana to Beirut for talks," said a Defense Ministry spokesman, speaking on customary condition of anonymity.

Meanwhile, the media is continuing its war against Israel, this time accusing Israel of attacking press freedom when they blew up a television station that was used for broadcasting messages from the Hizbullah leader, Nasrallah, on Lebanese state television. Israel has threatened to withdraw from the World Press Federation, unless the Secretary General, Aidan White, retracts his comments...

Quote: "The Federation stated that Israel's attacks were against the principle of the freedom of the press. The attacks on Al-Manar proves Israel's policy of the use of force as a means of quieting press organizations with which Israel does not agree, said Aidan White, Secretary-General of the Federation. An official letter written to the Federation by Israeli reporters states that the condemnation of Israel's actions represents overt support for terrorism.

It makes me sick, sick, sick! To think that the liberal media (and it comes from the very top) will defend hate speech against Israel in the name of the "freedom of the press". Groups like the Associated Press and Agence France Presse follow these terrorist groups around just to photograph them when they commit attacks on our armed forces. People like Nick Thorpe of the BBC don't report the facts and leave the listener to decide which side is right or wrong, they report their own version of events (as was seen in the Gaza beach incident) and if it's wrong it doesn't matter anyway, as everyone hates Israel. And now the Secretary General of the World Press Federation comes out in support of Nasrallah because he happened to own his own TV studio? Words fail me...

Cult believes tribulation will begin in September
16/7/06
This link from my friend Adam...

Things certainly are getting scary right about now. This news on the latest Middle East crisis involving Israel and the surrounding Arab nations has prompted some religious groups to (once again) sell their worldly goods and construct mud shelters to protect themselves from the nuclear fallout of Armageddon. They believe the tribulation will begin on September 12th, and they intend to do everything in their power to stick it out. The House of Yahweh, a Texas based organization, believes that nuclear war between the US and Islamic nations will spread deadly radiation throughout the world, which will kill off all the unbelievers. The local authorities in Kenya have been instructed to arrest the group's leaders who tell members to sell their houses and possessions, in order to prevent the cult from taking advantage of them.

Quote: ""The goings-on now in Israel are a clear indication of what will happen," says Ruth Wanjiku, a member of the Kenyan branch of the House of Yahweh that is based in the US state of Texas. "This is the beginning of the end of the world as prophesied by the 'Book of Yahweh'," she says, referring to the group's version of the Bible that holds Armageddon will begin on September 12. According to the prophesy, the end of the world will begin that day when the United States moves to protect Israel, sparking a war that sucks in nuclear powers China, North Korea, Iran, India and Pakistan, as well as non-nuclear state Sudan.

Some Christians do feel that the rapture of the Church will happen around the time of the Jewish Feast of Trumpets, and that is meant to be around September time. I personally don't know whether that will be the case or not, and the Scriptures don't tell us either. Neither do they teach that we should sell all our worldly belongings and hike up into some mountain to await the Second Coming of Christ. I've often thought about the question that if I knew the Lord was coming tomorrow, what would I do? I personally would have to continue on as I have done for the last 20 years. To act differently for me would be hypocrisy. I should already be living every day as if it were my last, and I know I fall far short of that. And if we all knew the day Christ was coming back, we might be inclined to fall asleep like the ten virgins, and not be ready when the shout goes up that "the Bridegroom cometh", Matthew 25:6. The Lord said "Occupy till I come", Luke 19:13, and I hope and pray that He finds me - and all of you, faithful at His return, going about our Father's business.

Fajr missiles kill 8 in Haifa
16/7/06
The coastal city of Haifa was hit again this morning by Hizbullah rockets, killing around eight Israelis and wounding around fifty. This despite the three Patriot missile batteries Israel installed in the city by the IDF earlier in the week. An initial investigation into this latest incident has revealed that these rockets were of a more advanced "Fajr" type, which is capable of travelling 40km and carrying a heavier payload.

Quote: "The most severe attack was on a garage for upgrading train cars at Haifa's train depot - one rocket directly hit one of the buildings, killing eight workers and injuring 23 others inside; six of the injured are in serious condition and three were lightly wounded in the strike. A firefighters spokesman said a blaze was ignited in the area, but it was put out. Firefighter Hezi Levy was one of the first to arrive at the scene. "When I entered the depot the roof was still on fire from the rocket that landed on it," he said. "Then I saw the bodies of the six people who were killed lying next to each other. Another employee came running towards me, tried to speak, then collapsed and died. Two minutes we began to extinguish the fire."

President Ahmadinejad of Iran, and President Assad of Syria are continuing their war of words against Israel, threatening harsh retaliation if either of them are attacked. Ahmadinejad in his usual fashion stated that the "Zionist regime behaves like Hitler", and that "survival of this regime is not possible without oppression and aggression". Iranian Defence Minister Mustafa Mohammed Najjar threatened that "should the Islamic world be forced to take military action, Israel will regret its crimes", and accused US and Israel of dragging the region into war to secure Arab oil resources. Syria's Information Minister, Mohsen Bilal has stated that "any aggression against Syria will have a firm and direct response not limited in time or means". Meanwhile, Javier Solana is currently in Beirut, trying to find a solution to the current crisis.

This From David Dolan, a Christian reporter who has lived in Israel for 20 years, regarding the current crisis...

Quote: "Iranian leaders say they will back Syria to the hilt if such a conflict erupts. While there were always questions as to Saddam's chemical weapons capabilities before the Iraqi war began in early 2003, there is no question that Syria possesses huge quantities of deadly VX nerve gas and a significant arsenal of Soviet-produced strategic missiles, including multiple SS-21 warheads capable of delivering the deadly gas to all portions of Israel. The use of such weapons against Israeli civilian centers would spark an Israeli non-conventional response—probably a nuclear one—as Israeli leaders have long made clear. Thus, we could be on the verge of the fulfilment of a prophecy I have publicly spoken about since the mid-1980s, found in Isaiah 17. It details a future complete destruction of the city of Damascus and also great suffering in Israel, indicating an Israel-Syria conflict is being foretold. As many of you know, this is the opening scenario in my end time novel, THE END OF DAYS (beginning with Hizbullah strikes upon northern Israel), and is also detailed in my 2002 book ISRAEL IN CRISIS.

Israel deploying Patriot missiles in Haifa
15/7/06
Israel's war against Hizbullah in Lebanon continued for a fourth day, as over 100 Katyusha rockets rained down on Israel today. Several rockets hit Tiberias in the lower Galilee, injuring over fifty people. Tiberias is around 22 miles from the Lebanese border, and marks the deepest attack into Israel by Hizbullah so far. Israel stationed three Patriot missile batteries in Haifa today, in an effort to prevent the rockets from hitting the city of over 250,000 people. Israeli Defence Minister Peretz has declared martial law in the north, closing some schools and businesses and requesting the evacuation of civilians within close proximity to the areas under threat. Israeli intelligence has also confirmed Iranian guards and an Iranian radar-guided missile were responsible for the attack on an Israeli naval vessel stationed off the coast of Lebanon. There were some positive developments today, as the Lebanese Prime Minister promised to send in the army to retake south Lebanon from Hizbullah.

Meanwhile, the BBC continues its satirical analysis of the threat now facing over 2 million Israelis. As we have said before, if this were happening in any other country there would be a national outcry. But when it comes to Israel, there is an ingrained reluctance by the BBC to condemn any form of Palestinian terrorism, coupled with a uncompromising zeal to portray Israel as the aggressor.

Quote: "The Qassams regularly fired by Palestinian militants in Gaza at Israeli towns have inflicted some casualties [ed. 13 dead since 2001, several schools hit, dozens wounded], but are crude, blunt instruments - rusty iron pipes welded together with engines and fins in secret workshops in Gaza. What was left of this Katyusha betrayed a sleek, professional weapon - slimmer, steelier, more lethal than its homemade brother. The Qassams mostly needle the Israelis, like pinpricks in the ankles of a giant, taunting him to stamp back with his big, US-issue army boots. The Katyushas are like poisoned arrows. They drive him mad...
For the Israelis, the death of its soldiers, and the steady rain of Katyushas, is a national insult - a declaration of war. Their air attacks on Beirut, on southern Lebanon, and on the roads leading to Syria and their constant artillery shelling of what they believe are Hezbollah positions, have escalated the conflict. The giant is kicking out, then landing punch after punch on long-suffering Lebanon.

If you read Nick's entire article, you will see how callous his views are on the situation in Israel, essentially comparing the war with Hamas and Hizbullah to some sort of game between the Arabs to become Israel's greatest enemy. And this guy has been given the responsibility of accurately and independently reporting our tea time news?

Syria pledges full support for Hizbullah
15/7/06
Yesterday the Syrian Ambassador to London exclaimed that Syria did not want to join Hizbullah in fighting against Israel, and said that Syria was working towards easing tensions in region. But it seems Ambassador Sami Khiyami does not know what he's talking about, for today Syrian President Bashar Assad pledged his full support for Hizbullah in their new war against Israel.

Quote: ""The Syrian people are ready to extend full support to the Lebanese people and their heroic resistance to remain steadfast and confront the barbaric Israeli aggression and its crimes," said a communiqué from the party's national command issued after a meeting. It said Israel and the United States "are trying to wipe out Arab resistance in every land under occupation" and that President Bashar al-Assad was aware of the seriousness of the situation in the region. The national command is the highest echelon of the Baath Party, which has been in power since 1963. Assad, who is shaped by his late father's lifetime of struggle with Israel, was not at the meeting. He has resisted Israeli and American pressure to abandon support for Hizbullah.

According to US intelligence, Israel has given Syria a 72 hour deadline to stop the Hizbullah rockets raining down on Israel, or suffer the consequences - which I imagine would be a strike on Hizbullah and Hamas strongholds in Damascus.

Quote: "The report said "a senior Pentagon source warned that should the Arab world and international community fail in the efforts to convince Syria to pressure Hizbullah into releasing the soldiers and halt the current escalation Israel may attack targets in the country." Al-Hayat quoted the source as saying that "the US cannot rule out the possibility of an Israeli strike in Syria," this despite the fact that the Bush administration has asked Israel to "refrain from any military activity that may result in civilian casualties."

Yesterday an Israeli navy warship was critically damaged by a missile fired from a Lebanese beach. Two soldiers are still missing. Hizbullah leader Nasrallah called for an open war with Israel on all levels, after he narrowly escaped an assassination attempt when his house was blown up by the IAF.

Quote: "Speaking defiantly in an audiotape aired on Hizbullah's Al-Manar television, Nasrallah addressed himself to Israelis, saying: "You wanted an open war and we are ready for an open war." "Look at the warship that has attacked Beirut, while it burns and sinks before your very eyes," Nasrallah said. It was not clear whether he meant that the warship had already been attacked.

Vatican slams Israel offensive in Lebanon
14/7/06
This link from my friend Stephen...

Israel is coming under intensifying pressure from the international community to halt its operations in Lebanon. So far over 700 Katyusha rockets have landed in Israel, killing three and wounding over a hundred. Israeli strikes against Hizbullah have killed at least 50 people, most of these being Hizbullah guerrillas. Prime Minister Olmert has accepted the UN's offer of a mediated cease-fire, and agreed to stop Israel's offensive against Hizbullah if the delegation also calls on the terrorist organization to disarm. Olmert has promised this offensive against Lebanon will continue until Hizbullah disarms. After Israel disengaged from Lebanon, the Lebanese government was requested by the UN to disarm and disband Hizbullah, but this never happened. Hizbullah always insisted they would remain as long as Israel occupied part of Lebanon, but after Israel's disengagement, the Lebanese Prime Minister drafted the terrorist force into the Lebanese army. And that is why Israel considers this Lebanese attack as an act of war. French President Jacque Chirac accused Israel of wishing to "destroy Lebanon", while the Vatican blasted Israel's response against Hizbullah as an "attack on a free and sovereign nation". Interestingly the Vatican completely ignored Hizbullah's 700 rockets that rained down on the truly free and sovereign nation of Israel.

Quote: "Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Angelo Sodano said Pope Benedict and his aides were very worried that the developments in the Middle East risked degenerating into "a conflict with international repercussions." "In particular, the Holy See deplores right now the attack on Lebanon, a free and sovereign nation, and assures its closeness to these people who already have suffered so much to defend their independence," he told Vatican Radio.

Israel attacks Hizbullah guerrillas who take their orders from Damascus and Teheran, and the Vatican accuses Israel of attacking Lebanese sovereignty? Hmmm... Even at the recently convened UN Security Council meeting, Israel's ambassador to the UN told his Lebanese counterpart that if Israel wins this war with Hizbullah it would be good for Lebanon. In other news, it's becoming clearer why the Iranian President wishes to delay Javier Solana's nuclear incentive package until late August. This from Prophecy News Watch...

Quote: "Aug. 22 corresponds to Rajab 27 on the Muslim calendar. The date is called Lailat Al Israa, when Mohammed ascended to heaven from the Al Aqsa mosque to receive the five daily prayers. Later, Al Aqsa came to represent Jerusalem. The Muslim commemoration is meant to be a night of struggle, accompanied by thunder and lightening, resembling the story of Moses ascending Mount Sinai to receive the Old Testament. Ahmadinejad could be hinting to the West that he is preparing a major attack on Israel. Or, the Iranian president could be warning that unless the West caves in, he would escalate tension in the region. The lightening in Mohammed's story could represent Iranian missiles.

I think if there was ever a suitable time to attack Iran's nuclear facilities it would be now...

EU warns conflict could bring in Syria
14/7/06
This link from my friend Stephen...

The Syrian ambassador to London has stated that his country is not interested in joining Hizbullah in battling against Israel, and has called on the terrorist organization to halt its attacks. But that sentiment is unlikely to be shared by Bashar Assad, Syria's President, who's palace was buzzed by Israeli jets a few weeks ago. Israel laid the blame for the kidnapping of Corporal Gilad Shalit at the feet of the Syrian President, who actively supports Islamic terrorist groups such as Islamic Jihad, Hamas and Hizbullah. Israeli intelligence believes Hizbullah was prompted by both Syria and Iran to drag the country into a wider regional war with Islam. Hizbullah has so far fired over 700 rockets into northern Israel in just the past few days. According to Finnish Foreign Minister, Erkki Tuomioja, the situation is expected to get worse. The Finnish Foreign Minister believes Syria could soon become involved in the conflict.

Quote: ""We consider the situation to be very bad and there is the continuing possibility that it could worsen; that the conflict could expand, especially to Syria," said Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja of Finland, whose country now holds the EU presidency. "This is in no way desirable, and the consequences could be truly uncontrollable," he told reporters.

But even if Assad is keeping his cards close to his chest, President Ahmadinejad of Iran is intent on starting a war with Israel, which he believes will herald the coming of the Mahdi, the Islamic messiah who will turn the nations to Allah. As Hizbullah was pounding Israel with hundreds of Katyusha rockets from southern Lebanon, the Iranian President was prophesying the defeat of Israel along with all those nations that support it, by the Islamic states in the region of the Middle East - also known as "Gog's Army".

Quote: ""In the near future we will witness the rapid collapse of the Zionist regime", Ahmadinejad told a crowd in the north-western city of Jolfa. "The nations of the region will record the names of states that support the Zionist regime alongside the Zionist's crimes", he added.

All this is causing discussion amongst Christians about whether we will witness the prophesy of the "burden of Damascus" soon being fulfilled.

Isaiah 17:1
The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from [being] a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.

Solana considering visit to Middle East
14/7/06
British Foreign Minister, Margaret Becket, Prime Minister Tony Blair and European High Representative for the Common, Foreign and Security Policy, Javier Solana, have held a meeting on the escalating crisis in the Middle East. Both Foreign Policy ministers expressed their concern over the situation, and have called for all Israeli soldiers to be released by Hamas and Hizbullah, and for restraint to be shown by all sides. Javier Solana says he is following these recent developments with concern, and is considering a visit to the Middle East to attempt to diffuse the crisis.

Quote: "For his part, Mr. Solana said "I would like to show my concern about the gravity of the situation. I can tell you that I have spent practically all the night on the telephone with several important actors, including Israel, the Palestinians, and the Lebanon." He said talked with the UN Secretary-General and the mission that is going to be sent by the United Nations in order to find a cease-fire if possible. "I would like to know that after the contact that I have had with so many people who are active in the region I am considering the possibility of going to the region after the G8 meeting to see if we can also help to find a solution to this grave crisis," said Solana. He urged both sides to de-escalate and to do the maximum to respect civilian lives, to behave according to international law and to act in a proportional manner. "I would go on to say that the government of Lebanon, in particular the Prime Minister, should not be weakened."

According to Foreign Minister Becket, both the UK and the European Union are heavily involved in trying to find a resolution to the crisis. The UN has also become involved and is planning to send a team (possibly a political delegation?) to the region shortly...

Quote: "The Foreign Secretary had a meeting with Javier Solana today. Following the meeting she said: "Mr Solana and I are gravely concerned about the escalation of the present crisis which now poses a serious threat for both Israel and Lebanon and indeed the wider security of the region. The international community and the UK are all heavily engaged in resolving this crisis. We have both spoken to the Israeli Foreign Minister; and the Prime Minister has spoken to Lebanese Prime Minister Fuad Siniora and has expressed his support for Lebanon. He encouraged the Government of Lebanon to act to resolve this crisis. "The Prime Minister and Mr Solana have spoken to Kofi Annan. The United Nations will be sending a team to the region shortly. And my counterparts in the European Union and United States are closely involved.

It's hard to see what way events will transpire. Either Solana's visit will pull off the seemingly impossible, or the UN delegation will put up a formal protest, but as usual do absolutely nothing to halt the Islamic aggression against Israel.

BBC blames Israel for increasing oil prices
14/7/06
I'm just getting caught up with everything that's been happening while I was off work. It's quite frightening.

Hizbullah, a terrorist organization supported by both Iran and Syria, kidnapped two IDF soldiers on Wednesday, prompting Israel to blockade Lebanese ports and carry out air strikes against Hizbullah bases in the country. In response, Hizbullah fired over 120 Iranian built Katyusha rockets into Israel, killing three people and injuring over a hundred. Hizbullah recently won the backing of the Lebanese Prime Minister to act as a bonafide Lebanese army, despite calls for the terrorist organization to be disarmed. Haifa, Israel's third largest city, was hit yesterday by these "crude, homemade" rockets for the first time. All this has caused the Iranian President Ahmadinejad to warn Israel that an attack on Syria (who back Hizbullah) would be considered an attack on the whole Islamic world, and would result in a Gog-Magog style retaliation.

Quote: ""If the Zionist regime commits another stupid move and attacks Syria, this will be considered like attacking the whole Islamic world and this regime will receive a very fierce response," Ahmadinejad was quoted as saying in a telephone conversation with Syrian President Bashar Assad.

The Lebanese government has called on the UN to impose a cease-fire, blaming Israel for the aggression and attempting to distance themselves from the actions of Hizbullah, which started the crisis. The terrorist group is believed to possess thousands of rockets which have a 20km range, and hundreds which can travel up to 50km inside Israel's northern border. With rockets being fired from the Gaza in the south and now Lebanon in the north, it may be just a matter of time before they are regularly fired from the West Bank in the east when Prime Minister Olmert adopts his unilateral withdrawal plan.

Quote: ""The government calls for an end to Israel's aggressions, which have killed civilians and destroyed vital civilian and economic institutions," it said in a statement.

Meanwhile, its plain to see who's side the news media is on. I was shocked when I started reading the above news articles this morning and thought to myself, the international community is bound to come out on the side of Israel now that Hizbullah has launched 120 rockets into the country. Some hope. The BBC has singled out Israel once again, blaming it for increasing oil prices, while the oil producing Muslim nations, who started this whole offensive in the first place, are given a clean slate. So if your oil prices go up, just blame Israel.

Quote: "Israel's military action in Lebanon is one of the key factors affecting the current surge in oil prices, analysts said. Israel has imposed an air and sea blockade on Lebanon as part of a major offensive after two soldiers were seized by the militant group Hezbollah. Although neither Israel nor Lebanon are oil producers, the violence has increased tensions in the Middle East, a region which accounts for about a quarter of the world's oil. "We are certainly in unchartered territory," said Victor Shum, an energy analyst at Purvin & Getz in Singapore. "I would not be surprised if $80 is attained soon with this slew of geopolitical events in a tight market."

Friends, this is all looking very drastic. It's easy to see how this operation could get out of control. Iran is itching to go to war against Israel, and they don't need any excuses. If these events continue to get worse, we could be sowing the seeds of the Gog-Magog invasion of Israel...

Ezekiel 38:15-16
And thou shalt come from thy place out of the north parts, thou, and many people with thee, all of them riding upon horses, a great company, and a mighty army: And thou shalt come up against my people of Israel, as a cloud to cover the land; it shall be in the latter days, and I will bring thee against my land, that the heathen may know me, when I shall be sanctified in thee, O Gog, before their eyes.

US hacks EU's Galileo project
11/7/06
US scientists have announced they have cracked the security encryption on the EU's new Galileo project. Galileo is a satellite system that is being launched by the EU to rival the established GPS system. The first satellite of the Galileo project was launched at the end of last year, and will become one of around thirty satellites orbiting the globe by the year 2010. The GPS (Global Positioning Satellite) system was created by the US military is free to use (and I use it, thanks guys!), whereas the EU plans to charge companies a fee for the use of their network. Galileo will eventually carry everything from basic signals for public use, to highly encrypted ones for military and governmental agencies.

Quote: "The European Commission said last night that Cornell's success in cracking codes for the prototype was irrelevant, as final codes for the Galileo system would not only be different, but would be made available by the EU. But Prof Psiaki said: "Any manufacturer can now figure out the open source access codes for themselves." Galileo, due to be operational by 2010, is a joint venture between the European Commission, the European Space Agency and private investors including, controversially, an arm of the Chinese state.

Galileo also forms part of the European Union's new GMES project. GMES (Global Monitoring for Environment and Security) will by the year 2010, provide Europe with a "spy in the sky", that will enable the European Commission to monitor member state compliance with EU treaties, ensure border security and provide the CFSP (European Common, Foreign and Security Policy) and ESDP (European Security and Defence Policy) with tactical information to conduct war. Both these areas of European policy are of course under the command of Javier Solana.

Quote: "The second major ambition concerns the deployment and integration of Earth observation capacities within an increasingly operational and coherent global system. At present, a multitude of satellites is continuously scrutinising the Earth. These transmit a mass of information which is used increasingly for the purposes of environmental policy, town and country planning, meteorology, the prevention of natural or industrial risks, and support for civil protection operations in the event of disaster. In future, such satellite information will also be important for managing the peacemaking and peacekeeping operations the Union plans to undertake as part of its common defence policy.

Great hail
Massive block of ice falls out of empty sky
11/7/06
This fascinating link from my friend Tony...

Local residents of Douglasdale, Africa were puzzled after a great ball of ice fell out of the sky without warning. While hailstones can grow to the size of golf balls - even footballs in some tropical regions, resulting in serious damage and even death, this phenomenon is different. Called megacryometeors, these massive blocks of ice form in cloudless skies. Professor Jesus Martinez-Frias of the Planetary Geology Laboratory in Madrid, who has studied the mysterious objects, is warning that the "megacryometeors" could be linked with global warming.

Quote: "Sofika and guard S'Wester Moya were sitting in a security booth outside the Fontana de la Vita complex when they saw a white object plunge from the sky. The impact of the ice ball's fall created a small crater on the pavement, which was covered with pieces of broken ice. "Megacryometeors are not the classical big hailstones, ice from aircraft (waste water or tank leakage), nor the simple result of icing processes at high altitudes," Frias said. "The term 'megacryometeor' was recently coined to name large atmospheric ice conglomerations, which, despite sharing many textural, hydrochemical and isotopic features detected in large hailstones, are formed under clear-sky conditions," he said.

And it looks like things aren't going to get any better. Africa isn't alone in experiencing this strange phenomenon. Around a dozen other countries have documented this weird occurrence, reporting even larger blocks of ice falling out of the sky...

Quote: "Since the deluge of megacryometeors that rained on Spain in January 2000, the Martinez-Frias team has studied and followed this phenomenon; and they have found that this phenomenon isn¹t unique to Spain. Argentina, Australia, Austria, Canada, Colombia, The Netherlands, New Zealand, and the United States have reported a megacryometeor event. In all, there have been more than 50 confirmations, and the researchers believe that is only a small fraction of the actual number. The ice balls are getting larger too: 25 and 35 pounders are frequently reported. Recently, Brazil reported a 440-pound behemoth. So what's the deal - really big hail or something else? Global warming might be to blame: The researchers found a meteorological anomaly on the days preceding the megacryometeorological events; ozone levels were unusually low over south-eastern Spain, which allowed more solar radiation to reach the troposphere, thereby cooling the lower stratosphere.

The Bible states that during the tribulation period, the world will experience a deluge of hail stones, each one weighing around the same as a talent. Apparently a talent is the equivalent of around 75 pounds, so you can imagine what sort of devastation this would cause both to people and property.

Revelation 16:21
And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, [every stone] about the weight of a talent: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great.

New World Order
NWO groups pursuing "North American Union"
10/7/06
I was sent a link to a video by a friend Melissa about this a few weeks back, which came from Herb's Fulfilled Prophecy site. It is a report by CNN's Lou Dobbs on the new "North American Union", a proposal agreed by US President Bush, Mexican President Fox and Canadian Prime Minister Martine which will see increased cooperation between the three countries on a variety of levels, including free trade and security.

As Herb has previously reported, many nations around the globe are now aiming to implement free trade blocs. The European Economic Community originally started out as an agreement between European states to pool energy resources. Now the European Union has become a federal super state (Europe has no internal borders), dictating trade, security and state law. All this, yet not one European citizen ever voted to join the EU. They only voted to join the European Coal and Steel Community, they had no idea they had just voted to surrender their national sovereignties. So it's clear that free trade agreements are just the first step in creating a new world order. What is so disturbing about all these free trade agreements is that they all have one thing in common. They will all be implemented by the year 2010. Just try typing "2010 free trade" into Google and see what comes up. We have the EU-Mediterranean free trade agreement (MEFTA), the EU-African free trade agreement, a Chinese-Asian free trade agreement (AFTA) and now a North American Union, all to be implemented by the year 2010. The North American Union would in essence eliminate all borders within North America, allowing the free movement of trade and people anywhere within the continent. And that is why President Bush will not secure the Mexican border.

Quote: "In March 2005, the leaders of Canada, Mexico, and the United States adopted a Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America (SPP), establishing ministerial-level working groups to address key security and economic issues facing North America and setting a short deadline for reporting progress back to their governments. President Bush described the significance of the SPP as putting forward a common commitment "to markets and democracy, freedom and trade, and mutual prosperity and security." The policy framework articulated by the three leaders is a significant commitment that will benefit from broad discussion and advice. The Task Force is pleased to provide specific advice on how the partnership can be pursued and realized. To that end, the Task Force proposes the creation by 2010 of a North American community to enhance security, prosperity, and opportunity. We propose a community based on the principle affirmed in the March 2005 Joint Statement of the three leaders that "our security and prosperity are mutually dependent and complementary." Its boundaries will be defined by a common external tariff and an outer security perimeter within which the movement of people, products, and capital will be legal, orderly and safe. Its goal will be to guarantee a free, secure, just, and prosperous North America.

As WorldNetDaily and Rense point out, it was the Council on Foreign Relations who proposed the North American Union last year, and it has now been signed into law in violation of the US Constitution. Friends, this amounts to a global takeover by the elitist New World Order groups. President Bush has signed away America's sovereignty, and if he is no longer in control of America, who is?

Luke 4:5-7
And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.

The offer Satan made to Jesus Christ still applies today, and one man will take him up. As a result, the Antichrist, who will gain control over the whole world, will be possessed by Satan himself during the tribulation period, and command all men to worship him.

Ahmadinejad says will to "remove Israel" strong
10/7/06
This news from my friend James...

President Ahmadinejad of Iran attended a two day conference in Tehran on Saturday, to discuss security in Iraq. Turkey was also present at the meeting, but Iraq seemed to be far from the Iranian President's mind. One thing that did occupy Ahmadinejad's thoughts though was Israel, which he once again slammed as the sole cause of Arab suffering in the region, and warned of an Islamic "explosion" should the world fail to do anything about the Zionist regime. The President claimed that there was a "strong will" to remove the "fake regime"

Quote: ""The basic problem in the Islamic world is the existence of the Zionist regime, and the Islamic world and the region must mobilise to remove this problem," the president said at the opening of a two-day regional conference on security in Iraq . "Today there is a strong will... to remove the Zionist regime and implement a legal Palestinian regime all over Palestine. The continued survival of this regime (Israel) means nothing but suffering for the region," Mr Ahmadinejad said. "The biggest threat today for the region is the existence of the fake Zionist regime," he added, before going on to attack Israel's supporters. "I am reminding them to stop the crimes of this corrupt government before it is too late, and open the way for a government arising from the votes of the indigenous people of Palestine, all over Palestine," the president said.

Of course the big question is, who are the indigenous people of Palestine? Seeing most "Palestinians" moved into the region subsequent to Israel's independence (only a few Bedouin actually lived in the land prior to this), and seeing there never has been a nation called Palestine, where is the historic precedent for the Islamic world to remove Israel? Their only precedent is the hatred of Ishmael - the son of the bond woman, for Isaac - the son according to the promise. This mobilization, as my friend James says, will result in the Gog Magog invasion which will end in catastrophic defeat for the Muslim nations.

Now India tests long range missile
9/7/06
Coming just four days after the communist North Korean state test-fired 7-10 missiles into the sea, bringing on itself worldwide condemnation and the threat of sanctions from both the US and Japan, today India successfully test-fired its own long range missile, seemingly upping the anti in this latest crisis. North Korea launched its Taepodong II missile last week, which sports a theoretical range of 6000km, putting Alaska within reach of a nuclear strike. Although India states that this latest missile test was just routine, there is no doubt its timing is significant. India's Agni III missile can carry a nuclear warhead and puts northern China within range.

Quote: "Analysts say the Agni-III dramatically increases the range of targets which India could hit. "This means that India has entered an altogether different league of nations, a new club," Rahul Bedi of Jane's Defence Weekly told Reuters. "We can now reach large parts of northern China, making our deterrence capacity stronger. Also, when a country is able to develop a missile which can travel 3,500km, it is not difficult to make something that can go 5,000km. "Very few nations have that capacity."

North Korean leader Kim Jong recently warned the international community that the country would respond to any attempt to hinder its missile or nuclear programmes with force...

Quote: "After Pyongyang defied world opinion and test-fired seven missiles last week, Japan formally introduced a U.N. resolution, co-sponsored by the United States, Britain and France, to impose sanctions against its missile program. "Kim announced a heroic DPRK (North Korean) position, in which it promised to answer to an enemy's retaliation with retaliation and to an all-out war with an all-out war. That is not empty words," the broadcast said.

The Bible seems to indicate some form of nuclear war could occur during the tribulation period, with references to fire and pillars of smoke, the elements melting with fervent heat, and one third of the earth's vegetation being burned up. If not a meteor strike, the next most probable explanation of these verses in my opinion is a nuclear strike. If the tribulation period starts in 2007 or if Iran successfully develops the bomb, that puts us just a few years away from a complete catastrophe.

Joel 2:30
And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.

Revelation 8:7
The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.

Project aims to redefine religion
8/7/06
This from Sermon Audio...

I was saying just a few days ago about the one world religion - or at least one world religious governing body, that is prophesied to come into being during the seven year tribulation period. Extremism in all religions is becoming politically incorrect, whether you are an Islamic suicide bomber, Jewish settler or gospel street preacher. British Prime Minister Tony Blair, former MP Blunket and even Pope Ratzinger, along with others, have made that clear. No, it's not that they don't agree with religion, that is Satan's biggest weapon in damning souls to hell. As the Pope said, they want moderate voices to stand up against extremism in all religions, for it is perceived that "fundamentalism" is the cause of much of the conflict in today's world. So they're starting a new organization called the Interfaith Peacemaking Project, which brings together people from all the world's religions, with the goal of trying to hammer out some sort of consensus that everybody can agree to.

Quote: ""We're trying to start a new expression of what religion is about," said the Rev. George Regas, rector emeritus of All Saints and head of the project. In his speech before 900 people packed into All Saints, Carroll blamed religious differences for conflict, contempt and violence, including the war in Iraq. But he said it is possible — and necessary — for religions to find common ground without compromising the integrity of their traditions. "We are neighbours now," he said. "And as neighbours, we can no longer define ourselves by the absolutes of bygone eras. "Peace among religions is the only way to peace." Carroll called on each religion to abandon its supremacy stance and critique itself.

Friends, this isn't the only movement that aims to unite all religions under one body. The United Religions Initiative has been trying for years to do the same. Then we have the World Council of Churches, the Ecumenical movement, and so on. The book of Revelation states that during the tribulation period, all the world will be directed to worship the Antichrist as God, through the false prophet. This false prophet will head up all religions, "Christianity" or what's left of it, Islam and Judaism, Buddhism, etc., who are all expecting the soon return of a messiah, and all will be deceived by the lying wonders this man will do. This so-called "conflict of civilizations" aims to unite people of all religions under one head, by pitting them against a "common enemy" of extremism. People will chose to be governed by this false prophet for the sake of peace and "unity", rather than believe the truth and suffer for it.

Revelation 13:11-14
And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men, And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.

Reuters oblivious to PA child propaganda
8/7/06
Under the title "Funerals don't deter Gaza youth", you may be forgiven if you had the impression that some poor Palestinian children, caught up in this mindless Israeli aggression, just want to follow in their fathers' footsteps. All young boys regard their role models as heroes and want to be like them when they grow up. So it's no surprise that the Reuters reporter asks the boys if they will learn any lessons from the premature death of their elder relative, who was killed by an Israeli missile strike. "No, we want to be martyrs too", they all reply. An elder cousin pipes up with seeming incredulity to the reporter's question, "What's to learn? All these boys just want to fight".

Quote: "A dozen small boys, not yet teenagers, were among relatives gathered at a funeral in Gaza on Friday for a young man killed in clashes between Palestinian militants and Israeli troops. Asked if they would learn from the death of 19-year-old Mohammed Maher Shahine, killed while watching Thursday's fighting as Israel stepped up an offensive in the strip, the boys answered almost with one voice. "No. We want to be martyrs too," they said, seemingly oblivious to the danger of following around bands of gunmen as they battle more powerful Israeli troops, who are backed by tanks and helicopters. "What is there to learn?" asked Jamal Shahine, 42, a cousin of the deceased as dozens of relatives gathered under a mourning tent. "All these boys just want to fight."

And what's wrong with that? In the West we all accept that boys will be boys, and will fight with each other. That's almost part of growing up. But it seems the Reuters reporter mistook the young children's eagerness to follow in their relative's footsteps for naivety. There is something seriously wrong when children as young as 9 and 10 have a desire to blow themselves up in order to exact some sort of revenge on their Jewish neighbours. And contrary to what Cherie Blair stated, they don't do it out of desperation, it's pre-meditated. And it isn't out of loyalty to their families. No, it's something much more dangerous than that. It's a desire fostered out of loyalty to Islam, and fuelled by Palestinian Authority propaganda. The PA is currently broadcasting music videos glorifying child "martyrdom", encouraging kids to follow in the footsteps of Muhammad al-Dura, a Palestinian child who was murdered on world television. But not by an Israeli bullet as the Palestinians would have us believe. He was actually shot by his own people, and has since become a Palestinian mascot in this latest media intifada. In this video, which was broadcast twice last week, children are encouraged to follow Dura in death and are shown what awaits them in paradise if they die for the sake of Allah.

Quote: "The children watching this video are then shown what awaits them if they join Dura in death. The video follows the child actor - "Dura" - joyously frolicking in heaven. He romps on the beach, plays with a kite and runs toward a Ferris wheel. The children are being told that death in conflict with Israel will bring them into a child's paradise. Muhammad al-Dura is already in this paradise, tranquil and fun-filled. This call to children to seek death, coming from the child who has turned into a Palestinian hero, and broadcast to their children by PA TV, is one of the most odious examples of exploitation of children by the Palestinian Authority. The words sung by the popular singer Aida are as insidious as the pictures. The earth is described as yearning for the children's death - "its thirst quenched by the gush of blood flowing from the youthful body."

PA gives order to shoot IDF soldiers
7/7/06
Although Hamas has actively supported and carried out attacks against Israel while in power, for the first time killing Israelis has become official government policy. From now on, Israeli soldiers may not only find themselves fighting against Palestinian terrorists in the Gaza Strip, but against Palestinian Authority police and security officers, trained and equipped by the European Union. It seems this Summer Rains operation has officially become war between Israel and Hamas. Around 30 Palestinian terrorists have been killed since Israel's incursion into the north.

Quote: "Palestinian interior and national security spokesman Abu Hilal sounded more determined when he stated clearly that orders have been given to Palestinian police officers and security forces to fire on Israeli troops. This is the first time that official Palestinian sources say that an order have been given to Palestinian security forces to open fire at IDF forces operating in Gaza. An interior ministry spokesman said that "the officers and security force members should open fire at the invading Israeli forces."

UN slams Israel for human rights violations
6/7/06
The United Nations has passed a new resolution accusing Israel of violating Palestinian human rights in the Gaza Strip, and called for the establishment of a UN fact-finding mission to carry out an investigation into the alleged abuses. Operation Summer Rains, an incursion by Israeli forces into the Gaza Strip aimed at securing the release of Corporal Gilad Shalit continues, and it doesn't look like Palestinian terrorists are going to release their captive - if he's still alive, any time soon. The IDF have sent ground forces into three former Israeli settlements in northern Gaza in an effort to prevent Palestinians firing rockets into Israeli towns. Another Kassam rocket landed in Ashkelon this morning, and eight Israelis were treated for shock. Palestinians accuse Israel of collectively punishing them, in the attack on the Gaza power station and creating sonic booms with Israeli fighter jets flying over the Strip. But that pales in comparison to the daily rocket attacks on Israeli towns that cause terror for the residents of Sderot and Ashkelon, and which the government and mainstream media have downplayed - even belittled, for last three months.

Quote: "The 47-member forum adopted a resolution, put forward by the Organization of the Islamic Conference composed of Arab and Muslim states, which also demanded a halt to Israel's "extensive military operations" against Palestinians. The decision, announced by Council chairman Luis Alfonso De Alba of Mexico, was taken on a majority vote at the end of a two-day special session called by the OIC. "It (the Council) decides to dispatch an urgent fact-finding mission ... on the human rights situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territories," the resolution read. The vote was 29 delegations in favor, 11 against, with five abstentions and two delegations absent for the vote.

The EU abstained this latest one-sided resolution, which was put forward by the Islamic nations. But it looks like the man who will head this "fact finding team", John Dugard, has already made up his mind on who is to blame for the violence stating, "It is clear that Israel is in violation of the most fundamental norms of humanitarian law and human rights law". Who needs "facts" when you have the UN, backed by the Islamic world presiding over the case? John Dugard also believes the lie that the arrest of Hamas government ministers, many who are guilty of supporting terrorism, constitutes "hostage taking". That's funny, I never heard the broadcast by the IDF threatening to kill their "hostages" if the Palestinian violence doesn't end.

Quote: "Its military operation violated prohibitions on collective punishment, intimidation, while last week's arrest of officials from the governing Hamas movement appeared to constitute hostage-taking that was prohibited by the Geneva Conventions, Mr Dugard said.

Let's hope Summer Rains doesn't end up like another "Jenin", where Palestinians manufactured a massacre for the liberal media, stealing guns from corpses to make it look like they were unarmed civilians.

Louisiana UMC reject petition against sexual sin
6/7/06
This link from my friend James...

The Louisiana United Methodist Church has overwhelmingly rejected a petition that would have required new church members to renounce racism, adultery, fornication and homosexuality. New Orleans pastor, Dr. Woody Hingle, submitted the proposal at the church's annual conference, but it was rejected out of hand, he believes because the body is afraid to denounce homosexuality as sin in God's sight. Hingle drew up the petition after a pastor was suspended by the church for denying membership to an unrepentant homosexual.

Quote: "The petition submitted by New Orleans pastor Dr. Woody Hingle would have affirmed that "local church membership in the United Methodist Church is open to all persons and requires repentance of sin, which includes racism, heterosexual sexual relations outside the marriage bond, and the practice of homosexuality." However, the measure was overwhelmingly rejected by delegates from the Louisiana UMC Annual Conference. Hingle believes the petition failed because United Methodist delegates were uneasy about declaring that homosexuality is "incompatible with Christian teaching." But if they balked at that, he wonders what other biblical standards will be called into question. "What other sins then don't have to be repented of for membership?" the pastor asks. "You know, if someone's in an adulterous relationship [or] unrepentant about having a lifestyle of lying or thievery or whatever -- where are you going to draw that line?"

This news of course comes after the startling revelations by the US Episcopal Church leader, Katherine Schori, who believes God created homosexuality, and denies that the name of Jesus Christ is the only name whereby we can be saved. Thank God that there are a few in these churches, like pastor Hingle, who have kept themselves unspotted from the world and have continued to stand up for the truth. I think also a major part of the reason why the petition was rejected is because adultery and fornication has become so prevalent in the churches today (even where I live), is sadly no longer considered sin.

Ephesians 5:3-5
But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

North Korea fires salvo of ICBM missiles
5/7/06
Tensions are rising in Asia after North Korea launched around 7-10 missiles into the sea of Japan this morning. It was believed that the country was making preparations to test its latest Taepodong 2 missile, which has a theoretical range of 6000km, putting much of Asia and Alaska within reach of the communist regime. Although the Taepodong 2 missile suffered engine failure on takeoff, North Korea proceeded to test other undisclosed missile systems, drawing immediate worldwide condemnation. North Korea has some of the most advanced missile systems in the world, and either has or is close to possessing nuclear weapons.

Quote: "North Korea, whose government pays close attention to symbolic gestures, chose to launch the missiles as the United States was marking its July 4 Independence Day. "It got everybody's attention on the Fourth of July. (North Korean leader) Kim Jong-Il can set off fireworks, too," said John Pike, director of the security Web site GlobalSecurity.org. Japan said it would consider immediate economic sanctions against North Korea. The government banned visits by North Korean ferries for six months.

Although Kim Jong's missile launch may have failed, Palestinian missiles are breaking all records, as a Kassam rocket launched from the Gaza Strip landed in Ashkelon yesterday. This is the first time an Israeli city has been hit by a rocket fired from Gaza. Although no casualties resulted from the attack, the missile did hit a school and will increase pressure on Israel to get this situation regarding the kidnapping of Gilad Shalit solved as soon as possible. Hamas ministers are currently in hiding, as they fear Israel will throw them all in jail if they get caught.

Quote: "MK Gideon Saar (Likud) said Tuesday, "The fact that a Kassam landed in the heart of Ashkelon, in a school, shows the complete failure of the [August 2005] Disengagement Plan. In contrast to the promises that the plan would bring about a better situation, one by one, all the warnings that the opponents of Disengagement issued are coming true." MK Saar added, "In light of this, continuing on with the Realignment Plan will be an abandonment of the residents of the center of the country to an artillery bombardment by terrorists from Judea and Samaria."

Despite Kassam rockets being responsible for 13 Israeli deaths since 2001 (not to mention dozens of Palestinian lives taken while manufacturing them), and having a range of at least 10 miles, the mainstream media continues to report that these rockets are "crude", "home-made" devices. Virtually every time a Kassam has landed in Israel within the last few months, especially those occasions where schools and classrooms were hit, people that should have been there were either absent or were miraculously spared. The liberal media interprets this Divine providence as a failure on the part of the Palestinians, and accuse Israel of overreacting. I like to think of it as the fulfilment of that Scripture...

Isaiah 54:17
No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue [that] shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This [is] the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness [is] of me, saith the LORD.

Nigerian church decries US "cancer"
4/7/06
The Nigerian churches that belong to the Anglican communion have slammed the US Episcopal branch for their departure from the truth of Scripture. The recent election of a female Bishop, Katherine Schori, as head of the Episcopalian churches, along with her recent statements on homosexuality are continuing to send reverberations around the world. Dr. Rowan Williams, himself a practicing Druid, had proposed a "two-tier" system of communion between the US churches and the rest of the world, to try and bridge the chasm that has opened up between the two groups. Rowan Williams revealed his true colours when he criticized both sides of the divide, saying that "Neither the liberal nor the conservative can simply appeal to a historic identity that doesn't correspond with where we now are". Clearly what the Scriptures have to say on the matter have no bearing on either Dr Williams' or Katherine Schori's beliefs. The Nigerian bishops rightly opposed Dr Williams' fudge as heresy, seeking for unity at the expense of truth, and ideal which is not taught anywhere in Scripture.

Quote: "In their statement, posted on two websites, the Nigerian bishops commend Dr Williams' idea as "brilliant as the heartbeat of a leader who wants to preserve the unity of the Church by accommodating every shred of opinion no matter how unbiblical". But they dispute whether the challenge is really to "fashion out a novel establishment that is elastic enough to accommodate all the extremes of the referred modes of expression of the same faith". "A cancerous lump in the body should be excised if it has defied every known cure," they say. "To attempt to condition the whole body to accommodate it will lead to the avoidable death of the patient."

Regarding the homosexual agenda, tensions are also increasing in Jerusalem, as Gay Pride is rallying the troops for their assault on Jerusalem. In a heated Knesset Committee meeting regarding the march that Gay Pride plan to hold next month, members debated on whether to ban the event outright, due to the large majority of the population that are opposed to it. Homosexual marches in Jerusalem have been banned before, but unfortunately judges have overruled those decisions.

Quote: ""Jerusalem is not yours. I will do anything I want in my house. We didn't come to have sex in the streets or run around the streets of Jerusalem in pink underwear. We are having the march so people know we have equal rights," a representative of the parade said. Opponents of the march hurled at him: "You won't desecrate Jerusalem." MK Yitzhak Levy opened the discussion by presenting a public opinion poll he commissioned last week, which revealed the following data: Among secular Jews, 63 percent oppose the parade; 81 percent of conservative Jews are opposed, 99 percent of National Religious are opposed; 100 percent of Orthodox are opposed; and 92 percent of Arab Muslims and Christians are opposed.

Well I removed the photograph I had placed in this article of some of the antics at these Gay Pride rallies. It perhaps was too graphic. It depicted two completely naked homosexuals, with just flags protecting their private parts from the gaze of the public. The homosexual activist was right about one thing, they don't wear pink underwear. In fact a lot of the time they don't wear any underwear... Friends, as I have said many times, Gay Pride consists of two evils. "Homosexuality", which is the reverse of God's intended creation, and "Pride", both of which God hates.

Isaiah 3:9
The shew of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide [it] not. Woe unto their soul! for they have rewarded evil unto themselves.

Rowan Williams was wrong. We're not the only ones to have faced this problem. Many Israelite kings also had to deal with sodomites, who back then were even being so bold as to build their houses beside God's house. Godly king Josiah did what Rowan Williams should have done long ago, bucked them all out. For the US Episcopal church to even consider countenancing what Scripture expressly forbids, words fail me...

2 Kings 23:7
And he brake down the houses of the sodomites, that [were] by the house of the LORD, where the women wove hangings for the grove.

North Korea threatens US with nuclear annihilation
4/7/06
This link from my friend Adam...

North Korea has issued a threat of nuclear annihilation for the US, should it consider a pre-emptive strike against the country. An unidentified analyst stated that North Korea would unleash an "annihilating strike and a nuclear war" in the event of an attack. North Korea is accusing the US of using remote control drones in the Korean peninsula, and of an arms build-up in the region. Tensions have increased since it was revealed North Korea was preparing to test-launch a new missile that can be tipped with a nuclear payload, and would be capable of reaching the continental US.

Quote: "The threat was issued by an unidentified "analyst," quoted in the Korean Central News Agency. "The army and people of the DPRK are now in full preparedness to answer a pre-emptive attack with a relentless annihilating strike and a nuclear war with a mighty nuclear deterrent," the report said. The DPRK stands for the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

On the Iranian front, President Ahmadinejad is still doing his best to stall efforts to halt Iran's Uranium enrichment programme. The President said there were a lot of ambiguities in Javier Solana's offer, and it would take many meetings to iron these out. Solana will meet Iranian Foreign Minister, Larijani, next week to discuss the proposals. Iran has said it will not give its opinion on the incentive package until the end of the month of Mordad

Quote: "On Wednesday Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that his country would respond in August. "We will study the offer and, God willing, will give our opinion at the end of the Mordad," Ahmadinejad said in a speech, referring to the Iranian month that ends on August 22.

The 28th of Mordad (19th August) is of course the anniversary of the coup that overthrew the government of Iran in 1953, which many Iranians believe involved the US and UK intelligence agencies.

Asteroids
Mile-wide asteroid flies by earth
3/7/06
An asteroid measuring around a mile wide came into close proximity with Earth this morning. Discovered in 2004, the asteroid designated 2004 XP14 was originally believed to have a trajectory that would have placed it on a collision course with Earth later this century. Although finer calculations on the asteroid's orbit of the sun have since ruled out those fears, 2004 XP14 nevertheless passed extremely close to earth this time round, only slightly further away than the distance between the Earth and Moon. Nasa's asteroid impact simulator gives an interesting analysis of what we could expect should an impact occur. The Nasa Jet Propulsion Laboratory also gives a list of current impact risks that are being monitored by astronomers worldwide.

Quote: "The mountain-sized object had been classed as a "potentially hazardous asteroid", but scientists say there was no danger of a collision with Earth It was anticipated that asteroid 2004 XP14, as it is called, would be visible through good amateur telescopes. Its closest approach to Earth, above the west coast of North America, was projected at 0444 GMT. At this time calculations suggested it would be about 268,873 miles (432,709km) from the Earth, only 1.1 times the planet's distance from the Moon.

Last year a large asteroid passed between the Earth and Moon, yet Nasa did not notify anyone about its passing until three days later. It was apparently to close to call, and telling the public that an asteroid could be about to to strike the earth may have generated more chaos than the actual impact itself. It is believed that a massive asteroid collision could have been the event that triggered the flood of Noah and the continental drift. The Bible also mentions an event that could possibly be described as an asteroid hitting the Mediterranean sea during the time of the tribulation period. It's interesting that the BBC also said of the asteroid Toutatis, which is 3 miles in diameter and passed by Earth in 2004, that it was a "mountain-sized rock". I wonder if they've ever read the book of Revelation?

Revelation 8:8
And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood; And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed.

Most vulnerable to get VeriChip in Puerto Rico
3/7/06
This link from my friend Adam...

As with abortion and medically assisted suicide, it is the most vulnerable who are at risk from VeriChip's new "Wander Protection" system, currently being implemented in Puerto Rican hospitals. Applied Digital Solutions (ADSX), that manufacture the VeriChip, has pioneered products such as "Halo" and "Hugs", RFID tags that are used to track the exact whereabouts of a child within a home environment. The wrist and leg bands even come with "skin sensing" technology, which means if your child tries to remove it, the parent will be immediately notified and can take appropriate action. The hospital scheme, which is using actual implants for the elderly, is currently voluntary and costs the host of the chip around $200. But I believe as with everything else, this trial period which is aimed at convincing the public that this scheme can work, will end up becoming compulsory, to ensure the safety of those in state care and to save money. Imagine if a dozen Alzheimer patients could be monitored by one person watching a monitor screen, instead of two or three nurses physically on the wards?

Quote: ""It is a way to offer an additional service because the chip it going to be used on a population that has memory problems ... or great health problems," said Nelson Martinez, coordinator of operations for Hostos Medical Services. VeriChip is the only company with U.S. federal approval to implant such chips in people. The company has implanted more than 2,500 people worldwide with chips that give hospitals access to their identification, which is used to retrieve medical information from an Internet database.

Witchcraft school to open in Illinois
2/7/06
This from my friend Tony. Wasn't sure what to call the title of this one.

A new school has opened its doors in Hoopeston Illinois, offering courses in Wicca (Witchcraft). Witch School started on the internet around five years ago, and today boasts a roster of over 120,000 names, with up to 50 members joining the website every day. Alongside Wicca, pupils can also study Druidism, Celtic history, and New Age crystals.

Quote: ""We did what we felt was our place to do at the time," said Pastor Steve Nelson of Hoopeston's First Baptist Church. He was one of several pastors who had held prayer meetings outside of Witch School's property. Nelson says the people of Hoopeston are all too often reminded of the school's presence, because it occupies a former brick horse stable and it is in the middle of town near the Hoopeston Civic Center. Still, he says he has come to accept the school as a permanent fixture and moved on, even though he doesn't approve of Wiccan beliefs. "I just disagree with their anti-God approach and feel it's not good for our community," he said. "When given the opportunity, I would speak against it."

I commend the Pastor's efforts, even though he seems to have given up the fight. Illinois is not alone in regards to this problem. Where I live in Bangor, Northern Ireland, there is also a very active Wiccan community. While they may not have a shop front like in Hoopeston, witches regularly gather in the parks late at night and pray to Satan. I haven't seen them but I have heard it goes on. Unfortunately with the popularisation of books like Harry Potter, which is packed to the gills with real witchcraft symbols and theory, it's the kids that are being dragged into this demonic realm, and sometimes even from Christian homes. The kids now perceive witchcraft as something tangible, for example in Harry Potter - something to help you get your own back on your enemies, while seeing Christianity as a set of rules meant to restrict your freedoms. I do remember reading of one girl who was sent to a Christian camp by her parents, who used to sneak out at night to a hill top and place satanic curses on the leaders. It does happen, and probably a lot more than we realize.

It's all very negative, isn't it. But praise God He that is within us is greater than He that is in the world (1st John 4:4). Even the demons are subject to those who have the Spirit of the Living God within them (Luke 10:17). Let's be encouraged to put on the armour of God, that we may be able to withstand in this evil day.

Galatians 5:19-21
Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
