138 Muslim clerics have sent a letter to prominent leaders in Christendom, calling for peace and understanding between Muslims and Christians. The letter comes on the first anniversary of another letter, drafted by 38 Muslim clerics, and sent in response to Pope Ratzinger's remarks that religion of Islam was spread by the sword. Signatories to the latest letter included the grand muftis of Egypt, Palestine, Oman, Jordan, Syria, Bosnia and Russia. Many other prominent Muslim scholars added their names to the letter, representing Shi'ite, Sunni and Sufi Muslims from the Middle East, Asia, Africa, Europe and North America. In their latest message, they warned that unless relations between Muslims and Christians improve quickly, the "very survival of the world itself is perhaps at stake". A similar letter may also be sent by the Muslim clerics to Jewish leaders.

Quote: ""If Muslims and Christians are not at peace, the world cannot be at peace. With the terrible weaponry of the modern world; with Muslims and Christians intertwined everywhere as never before, no side can unilaterally win a conflict between more than half of the world's inhabitants," the scholars wrote. "Our common future is at stake. The very survival of the world itself is perhaps at stake," they wrote, adding that Islam and Christianity already agreed that love of God and neighbour were the two most important commandments of their faiths.

The book of Revelation states that during the tribulation period, a second beast will arise out of the earth. When the "earth" is spoken of in Revelation, as far as I understand, it is a reference to the land of Israel. When the "sea" is mentioned in symbolic context, it is usually a reference to the "sea of nations" - the Gentiles. This second beast is also known as the false prophet, who will be given demonic power to perform all kinds of lying wonders or counterfeit miracles, which will persuade men that he is the promised Messiah. He will compel all men to worship the Antichrist. I believe that through this man's deception, he will somehow be able to unite the religions of Islam, Judaism and Christendom in one new religion. The false prophet's description, having two horn's like a lamb, seems to indicate that this man may be linked in some way with apostate Christendom. Although I don't use the Qur'an to form my opinions on end time prophecy, Islamic teaching also states that "Jesus" will come and reign over Jerusalem, but will be subservient to the Islamic Mahdi. As we can see, the friction being manufactured between the religions of earth is preparing the way for the coming of a satanic individual who will be able to unite all religions under his leadership.

Revelation 13:11-14
And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men, And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by [the means of] those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
