The Church of Rome is planning to put the body of Padre Pio on public display for his devout followers, who will soon be celebrating the fortieth anniversary of the man's death. Padre Pio was a monk who lived in the town of San Giovanni Rotondo, Italy. His followers believe that while he lived, he bore the marks of Christ's crucifixion in his hands and feet, and that he possessed the ability to heal the sick. He was also rumoured to be able to foretell future events, appear in two places at once, and knew in advance the sins of those who were coming to him for confession. The monk was initially opposed by the Roman Catholic Church, but later on, Pope John Paul II made him a 'saint'. Padre Pio's body was exhumed during a three hour service. The Church of Rome said in a statement that the body was in fair condition, and that they planned to exhibit his corpse in a glass coffin, so those wanting to pray to him would be able to see him. Quote: "The body had been conserved well, said Archbishop Domenico D'Ambrosio. ''As soon as we got inside the tomb we could clearly make out the beard. The top part of the skull is partly skeletal but the chin is perfect and the rest of the body is well preserved," he said. "If Padre Pio allows me, I might say he looks as though he just had a manicure." The Church of Rome was once known for its exhumation of corpses, but this honour was usually reserved for those whom the church wanted to destroy. The Church of Rome exhumed the bones of John Wycliffe, the man who translated the Scriptures into the English language, burned them, and had the ashes scattered on the river Swift. One Pope, Steven VI, even had his predecessor's body exhumed from his grave and put on trial. Of course this reminds us of the Scripture, that we shouldn't fear those who have power to kill the body, but afterwards can do no more. We should fear Him who has the power to destroy both soul and body in hell (Matthew 10:28). It also should remind us of the certainty of the resurrection. For although Wycliffe's ashes may be scattered across the world's oceans, John Wycliffe's body will be resurrected with the rest of those who have trusted in Jesus Christ for salvation. Job 19:25-27 For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God: Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me. Do you believe that God will somehow have mercy upon you, when he sees you paying homage to a dead man's body? Or like Job, do you know that your Redeemer liveth? Jesus Christ gave His life on the cross for you. He died, and was buried, and the third day He rose again from the dead (1st Corinthians 15:1-4). Truly our Redeemer lives, and is mighty to save (Isaiah 63:1). Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved (Acts 16:31). Source BBC, Wikipedia |

I thought this article was very interesting. Although not specifically related to prophecy, it sheds some light on the modern 'signs and wonders movement' now making inroads into many churches. The article gives an account of one girl who claims to have experienced something similar to what many Christians are now claiming to have experienced, supposedly under the power of the Holy Spirit. Lina says she was 17 years old when she was first possessed by an evil spirit. She lives in Indonesia, where reports of mass trances and speaking in tongues seem to be relatively common. She recounts an experience she had while working in a cigarette factory. "My older sister went down first. She was screaming and her body went rigid and she couldn't move. Then the spirit came into my body too", Lina said. She believes she has been possessed many times over the past six years, always by the same spirit. "Its face is exactly the same face as my older sister but the body is hard to make out. It calls my name but if I follow it, it disappears", she said. Lina says that mass trances were common in the factory were she worked. There have been many other reports of mass trances in Indonesia. Last June around 50 female workers in a garment factory near Jakarta went into a mass trance, weeping and jerking their bodies around. Similar occurrences have also been reported in several high schools. Quote: ""Every society has some kind of culturally appropriate place for trance experiences, usually in religious settings," said Tanya Luhrmann, a Stamford University anthropologist who studies witchcraft and evangelical Christianity, where such group faintings are common. "There appears to be a contagion element to trance, but it really requires some kind of willingness on the part of the individual," she said in an emailed reply to questions, adding that this was the case even if it seemed unconscious or unwilled. If you happen to watch some of the Christian satellite television channels, you may be familiar with such phenomenon. You would be forgiven for thinking that this movement is a work of God, for that is how it is portrayed. It has become known as being 'drunk' or 'slain' in the spirit, and the practice is being promoted by several prominent teachers and preachers on Christian television networks, including but not limited to Benny Hinn, Rodney Howard-Browne, Kenneth Hagin and Kenneth Copeland. I downloaded a video from the internet of one particular episode of Kenneth Hagin's, in which he had his whole audience in hysteria, rolling about on the floor in fits of laughter. Hagin himself was deeply affected by the phenomenon, and was hissing like a snake and laughing uncontrollably. Copeland was also present at the meeting. It is very disturbing viewing. As we can see, this phenomenon is not limited to so-called evangelical Christianity. Those that follow the movement will claim that for every work of God, Satan has his counterfeit. But where is the true manifestation of this phenomenon then? There is no mention of it in the Scriptures. Some will then claim that God is doing a 'new thing'. But the Lord will never go against His written Word, and this movement finds no support in Scripture. People claim to fall down under the power of God. In Benny Hinn's shows you will always see them falling backwards, and being laid out on the floor. But in the Bible, whenever people fall down under the power of God, they always fall on their faces (Genesis 17:3) and never on their backs. The only occasion when people fell backwards under the power of God is when the soldiers came to arrest Jesus Christ (John 18:6). If you watch Benny Hinn's show very closely, you will also notice that those who seem to be praying or concentrating do not fall down as easily when prompted to do so by Benny Hinn. And that may tie in with the above quotation, that there needs to be a willingness on the part of the individual to be induced into a trance. I think I remember one occasion on which Rodney Howard-Browne actually told people not to pray so that they could fall out under this power. Clearly God is not the source of this power. The Bible states that God is not the author of confusion (1st Corinthians 14:33). Speaking in 'tongues' is also not limited to Christianity. It is closely associated with the occult and Shamanism. I personally believe that the tongues mentioned in the Bible were real languages (Acts 2:7-11), and not the mumbo-jumbo that is often passed off as a heavenly language today. For instance, one video of Kenneth Copeland and Rodney Howard-Browne on the internet shows both men telling each other a joke in 'tongues'. But the Bible states that the miracle of tongues was a sign to the unbelieving Jewish nation (Isaiah 28:11, 1st Corinthians 14:21-22), and that once the complete revelation of the Scriptures had come to us, this gift would pass away (1st Corinthians 13:8-10). Interesting to note that Paul also states the gift of prophecy would pass away, so where does that leave many of these so-called 'prophets' today? As we can see, the time is ripe for the appearance of the False Prophet. The world, and especially Christendom through the medium of television, is being conditioned into accepting that some Christian leaders have the 'gift' of miracles. While I believe miracles still do happen today, and I have witnessed one, there is a big difference between a real miracle and what these men are passing off as miracles. For a start, a real miracle is glorifying to God, while the miracles these men perform only serve to bring glory to themselves. And when the False Prophet appears on the scene, his miracles will serve only to glorify the Antichrist and Satan himself. Revelation 13:14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by [the means of] those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live. Just like Israel in the Old Testament, Christendom is now being led by a few self-proclaimed prophets who are not speaking on the behalf of God. If they were they would be preaching the truth of Scripture and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Do not blindly accept what men tell you, search the Scriptures to see whether those things are so (Acts 17:11). John 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. Source Reuters |

Patrick Sookhdeo, a former Muslim and advisor to British, American and NATO officials on jihadist theology, is warning that the liberalization of Christendom is encouraging the radicalisation of Islam, and warns that unless the churches in Europe get back to the central truths of Scripture such as holy living and salvation in Christ alone, that they will die and society along with them. Sookhdeo made the comments at a meeting in Focus on the Family's headquarters in Colorado Springs. Sookhdeo believes that the churches in Europe have become polluted through adopting our secular society's politically correct ideology. He asked the question whether the Lord is removing His candlestick of witness from Britain and Europe, because of their willingness to embrace other religions such as Islam, while failing to proclaim the truth of the Gospel. Sookhdeo noted that there are more Muslims being saved today than ever before, and at a time when we should be proclaiming the truth of Jesus Christ, we are instead embracing their beliefs through fear of offending our fellow man. Quote: ""There is considerable disillusionment within the Muslim world and I think violence which we see... is producing an inner hunger within many Muslims for reality," Sookhdeo said. "The danger is at the very time we should be holding fast to our faith and onto our foundation and sharing those, the temptation is to weaken our position, to weaken it, and embrace the other." "So I want to say if we are going to fight this battle and fight it spiritually then we have to look at our own spiritual lives – our dedication to the Lord, our theological, our moral and spiritual and then move into prayer where we can deal with Satan... Of course I believe in love. But I think in our serious condition we need a new generation of prayer warriors with the prophets of God." I believe Sookhdeo has hit the nail on the head. Some Christians feel that we are engaged in a 'culture war', and that the only way of preventing radical Islam from making inroads into our society is by fighting against it. But I don't see things that way. Jesus Christ said, "Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men", Matthew 5:13. Unfortunately in the West, Christendom has largely lost its savour, and the rise of Islam in Britain may be a direct consequence of that. We need to be salt and light to the people living around us, and the only way we can do that is by living according to what the Bible teaches. Paul said of the Corinthians, "Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men", 2nd Corinthians 3:2. How we need to be living epistles, known and read of all men! We are fighting a battle, but the enemy is not Islam. The Bible says "we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places", Ephesians 6:12. We are fighting a spiritual battle against Satan himself, and the only way you can win a spiritual battle is to use spiritual weapons (2nd Corinthians 10:4). And that means going out there and telling the Muslims of their need of the prophet Isa - Jesus Christ, who is able to cleanse them from their sins, through trusting in Him for salvation. I hope and pray that God enables me to be a good witness to others. Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Source Christian Post |

The former foreign minister of Finland, Erkki Tuomioja, has somewhat turned this 86% Lutheran country (don't ask about the born-again percentage) upside down with his recent statement, that the minds of children should not be poisoned with these Christian ideas. I trust so many of his previous voters, being sincere Christians, would have liked to hear this word a little bit earlier in Tuomioja's career. He has now publicly identified himself as an atheist. A pamphlet against Christianity from Richard Dawkins, "The God Delusion", has encouraged Tuomioja to step out from the closet (sorry, in Finnish only). Furthermore, there's also an additional character in this Mr. Tuomioja - an explicit mission against the Judeo-Christian Lord. Hearing this "warm message" of generations growing up their children in a "poisoning" way makes me breathless; and didn't we just get over another "poisoned case"? Nine people died in a school shooting near our capital. What made it all almost impossible to cope with was, when it became public, that two of my colleagues' families had been hit hard. One family lost their son there and another their mum. I wrote a short letter in our company's bulletin board - referring to a commentary in our known newspaper - not commenting on the seemingly justifiable ideas of that article, but in all, that the focus should be merely on criticizing that which was this unthinkable, horrible event's spine-chilling backcloth. For this sad and appalling work's background - and what the doer himself admits - nazi-darwinistic-superman ideology, and thus killing the weak, has to be condemned. On his website, the shooter has publicly announced his motives for the killing in Jokela. On his page the shooter shows himself being a steadfast evolutionist and being frustrated by the meaninglesness of his life - but applies his evolutionary philosophy in this shooting act, by eliminating the unfit individuals. Quote: "Life is just meaningless coincidence... a result of long evolutive development and a result of many reasons and elements. However, life is also that, what an individual wants to do with it. And I am my own life's dictator and god. And I have chosen my way. I have prepared to fight and die for my thoughts. Myself, as natural chooser, eliminating everybody, whom I see unfit, disgrace to mankind and an error of natural selection... You can ask yourself, why did I do this and what do I want. Well, most of you are too arrogant and mentally remote, to be able to understand ... Obviously you will say, that I'm "insane", "mad", "psychopate, "criminal" or comparable rubbish. No, the truth is, that I'm just an animal, human being, individual, dissenter." All this makes me so speechless. John Blanchard wrote about this particular "life philosophy's" insanity in the following words ("Where was God on Sept 11th"): "The Holocaust obviously raises huge questions for people who believe in God, but why should it cause any problem for atheists? If the British philosopher Bertrand Russell was right to dismiss man as ‘a curious accident in a backwater’, why should it matter in the least whether lives are ended slowly or suddenly, peacefully or painfully? If an atheist like the Oxford professor Peter Atkins is right in calling mankind ‘just a bit of slime on a planet’, why should we be remotely concerned at the systematic slaughter of six million Jews? Do we get traumatized when we see slime trodden on or shovelled down a drain? British anthropologist Sir Arthur Keith said that Hitler "consciously sought to make the practices of Germany conform to the theory of atheistic evolution". As all atheists are evolutionists, this is highly embarrassing for them, for evolution says that humankind is simply the result of countless chemical and biological accidents. If this is true, how can human beings have any personal value, and why should we turn a hair if any regime disposes of them by the million? The modern American author Henry Morris writes, "In the biological theory of Darwin, Hitler found his most powerful weapon against human values," while an Auschwitz survivor says that its gas chambers "were the ultimate consequence of the theory that man is nothing but the product of heredity and environment". Why should the Holocaust raise any ethical problems for the atheist? In a godless universe, what one ‘animal’ does to another ‘animal' is morally irrelevant — making it just as easy to commend the Holocaust as to condemn it. Although it caused appalling physical, mental and emotional pain and suffering, atheism has no way of declaring it to be radically wrong, for in the absence of absolute, transcendent ethics the word ‘wrong’ is meaningless. If we live in a world in which everything can be explained by physics, chemistry and biology, things we call ‘good’ and ‘evil’ are just impersonal, valueless data with no explanation. If there is no God, there is no universal moral law, and if there is no such law, nothing is essentially good or evil." Now, we have a senior politician telling us, "change your ways". But we have a "testimony" of a teenager showing us which that "new way" leads. In Jokela, his "own life's dictator and god" clearly made it known in which kind of "god" he believed: "Compared to you, backward masses, I am truly godlike". By the act of his conviction, he left to many a family memories ineradicable. That year Christmas didn't come for them. Instead came a present from Satan himself. Don't get me wrong. I'm not against this politician. The only political party I have ever belonged to is the Party of Golgotha and my political view is the message of the middle cross. And that "party programme" of mine tells me: "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." (Prov. 22:6) That Way is the only Way. And it is the only Truth. And it is the only Life Eternal. "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me." (John 14:6) |

A director who shares the ideas of Iran's hardline president has produced what he says is the first film giving an Islamic view of Jesus Christ, in a bid to show the "common ground" between Muslims and Christians. Quotes: "By making this film I wanted to make a bridge between Christianity and Islam, to open the door for dialogue since there is much common ground between Islam and Christianity," he said. But in Talebzadeh's movie, God saves Jesus, depicted as a fair-complexioned man with long hair and a beard, from crucifixion and takes him straight to heaven. "It is frankly said in the Koran that the person who was crucified was not Jesus" but Judas, one of the 12 Apostles and the one the Bible holds betrayed Jesus to the Romans, he said. In his film, it is Judas who is crucified. Shiites believe the Mahdi's reappearance will usher in a new era of peace and harmony. "We Muslims pray for the 'Return' (of Imam Mahdi) and Jesus is part of the return and the end of time," Talebzadeh said. And I almost thought we had it all. But this new year's start faced another major Jesus- campaign: Oprah Winfrey (according to some assessments, the most influential woman in the world) will be letting out all the stops on her XM Satellite Radio program this coming year. Quote: This "Jesus" — who bears no doctrinal resemblance to the Bible’s Jesus Christ — began delivering his channeled teachings in 1965 to a Columbia University Professor of Medical Psychology by the name of Helen Schucman. One day Schucman heard an "inner voice" stating, "This is a course in miracles. Please take notes." For seven years she diligently took spiritual dictation from this inner voice that described himself as "Jesus." A Course in Miracles was quietly published in 1975 by the Foundation for Inner Peace. For many years "the Course" was an underground cult classic for New Age seekers who studied "the Course" individually, with friends, or in small study groups. Here are some quotes from the "Jesus" of this "A Course in Miracles" -session: * "There is no sin. . . " * A "slain Christ has no meaning." * "The journey to the cross should be the last ‘useless journey." * "Do not make the pathetic error of ‘clinging to the old rugged cross.’" * "The Name of Jesus Christ as such is but a symbol... It is a symbol that is safely used as a replacement for the many names of all the gods to which you pray." (example: the gospel according to Oprah) * "God is in everything I see." * "The recognition of God is the recognition of yourself." * "The oneness of the Creator and the creation is your wholeness, your sanity and your limitless power." * "The Atonement is the final lesson he [man] need learn, for it teaches him that, never having sinned, he has no need of salvation."" So this, A Course in Miracles, is allegedly "new revelation" from "Jesus" to help humanity work through these troubled times. Uhh. What makes me wonder is, that the Bible telling of the miracles performed by the False Prophet, uses same original words when describing the miracles of the Lord and the Apostles. But the message will then be a little bit different, but obviously containing some kind of Jesus, too (2 Cor. 11:4). Isn't there a solemn message for the today's Charismatic people to ponder carefully. For, when signs and wonders are in question, the time of Tribulation will be some serious Satanic showdown! And in that light, this year-long brainwashing New Age session, "A Course in Miracles", speaks volumes, too. "Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous." (1 Joh. 3:7). "There is none good but one, that is, God" (Matt. 19:17). "Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you." (Jas. 4:8). Let Him save you. |
