A senior judge in the United Kingdom has warned that British society is facing melt-down as a result of the collapse of the traditional family unit. He made the comments during a conference speech in Brighton earlier this month. Mr Justice Sir Paul Coleridge stated that successive governments have neglected the family unit in their policies, and that the breakdown of the family unit now proved as grave a threat to the country as terrorism and global warming. The judge said that an increasing number of children from broken homes were turning to drink, drugs and criminality, and that almost every ill of society can be traced back to the breakdown of the family unit. He added that while not every broken home will produce dysfunctional children, nearly every dysfunctional child is the product of a broken home. He warned that the government must put the family as high on their agenda as the economy and the war on terror, and "make it rather more important than taking oaths of allegiance", a reference to a recent suggestion by the government to try and reform British society. Quote: "Using apocalyptic language, he spoke of the 'wholesale collapse' of one of the key building blocks of a stable society. He told the lawyers that "in some of the more heavily populated urban areas family life is in meltdown or completely unrecognisable", adding that "the results are affecting the mental health of parents and children across the country... family life in the old sense no longer exists. I suggest the general collapse of ordinary family life, because of the breakdown of families in this country, is on a scale, depth and breadth which few of us could have imagined even a decade ago. What is certain is that almost all of society's social ills can be traced directly to the collapse of the family life. It seems that the judge has hit the nail on the head, although I reckon he will be hated by the progressive liberals in this country for saying so. A government spokesperson denied there has been any breakdown of family life in the United Kingdom, stating that 70% of families are headed by a married couple. But that statistic is misleading, for although most families may still be headed by a married couple, often the children belonging to these parents are from two or three different relationships. When I was a child in Sunday School, which was around 20 years ago, it was virtually unheard of for a child to come from a broken home. In primary school I only ever remember one boy who's parents were divorced, and I remember thinking this was terrible. The boy in question obviously thought so too, and sometimes he would cry about it. Compare that to just a few years ago, when we only had one girl in our Sunday School whose parents were still together, the rest of the children were from broken homes. Of course some of our dearest children in the Sunday School have come from broken homes. My friend Eddie Hindson once said that it was a miracle that any of them turned out the way they did, with the difficulties they have to deal with at home. I would agree that the government should accept some of the blame for this present situation, but I would say the media must receive the majority of it. It is the media's influence on our young people, and its desensitising to sin, that has undoubtedly contributed to our immoral and ungodly way of life. The Bible says that in the last days "perilous times" would come (2nd Timothy 3:1). Those times are now upon us. It's not easy living in a sinful world. There are so many things to distract even Christians from their walk with the Lord. But it behoves us to follow the wise instructions given by Paul in his letter to the Philippians... Philippians 4:8-9 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you. If we put Paul's words into practice, that would solve an awful lot of the problems we face today. Source Ian Paisley |

A California company has reported that they have created the first cloned mature human embryo from single skin cells taken from an adult. The article goes on to say that "few, if any, technical barriers may remain to the creation of cloned babies". |

A new variety of staphylococcus bacteria, highly resistant to antibiotics, is now spreading among homosexual males in San Francisco, Boston, New York and Los Angeles, according to a new report in the Annals of Internal Medicine. Does anyone remember that previous, rapidly spreading epidemic called AIDS? I think careless people should, at least, be warned. But how can we Christians do that - when it has been made so difficult for us? Quote: "The Labour-controlled British Parliament has rejected a motion that would have afforded Christians and other conscientious objectors legal protection from accusations of hate crimes by homosexual activists. The proposed "gay hate crimes" law would carry a maximum penalty of seven years in jail for anyone convicted of "inciting hatred" against homosexuals. The motion to amend was introduced by Jim Dobbin, the Labour MP for Heywood and Middleton, who warned that some Catholic and Anglican leaders believed the proposed law would make it impossible to teach or preach Christian moral doctrine on sexuality and marriage without incurring criminal penalties". Thus if I meet a person that hasn't "heard the news", and after enlightening his understanding he abruptly accuses me of "evangelising", the end result of this "one word against another" will surely be, that he is getting a good compensation - while I'm behind bars. At least some that claim to be Christians are doing their level best in this difficult issue. Quote: "A coalition of groups led by Soulforce is targeting six U.S. mega-churches in an effort to foster dialogue about Christian views on homosexuality. Caleb Price with Focus on the Family says the campaign by the homosexual advocacy group has a friendly façade that belies the agenda of the group -- and that the churches targeted need to be on guard." Where's my aspirin? I have nothing against the homosexuals. But my Instructions for Life, the Bible, has. The promoting and practising of homosexuality is sin leading to death. And it is leading to horrible suffering of innocent victims, also. And how come that other "god" allowed - or instructed - these maniacs to do that! "How long, O Lord, Holy and True"? "And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed." (Luke 17:26-30) The slippery slope has finally brought the world back to Sodom. Soon the "Lots" will leave. Come, Lord Jesus! |

Dr. Charles Saunders, chairman of the British Medical Association's consultants' committee, has warned that sex education in Scotland must begin at an early age in order to prevent more teenagers taking risks with their health. According to this article, Scotland has one of the worst sexual health records in the Western world, with over 9000 teenagers becoming pregnant in 2005 alone. At least 800 of these were girls under the age of 16, and around 1 in 4 teenagers aborted their children. To combat this horrific trend, Dr. Saunders is suggesting that sex education begin at the age of five, and that contraceptives be handed out to schoolchildren who are under the age of consent. Quote: ""At five it needs to be a language that they understand and taught in the same way as any other subject. It would be basic mechanics at that age in the same way as you teach a child of that age a tiny amount about geography, a fairly superficial introduction. "It should start off with relatively simple concepts in the same way as English and science start off with the basics. It could start off with how babies are made and progress from there." He added: "You need to start somewhere and it makes an awful lot of sense to start long before it's needed, because if you leave it too long you are wasting your time. "Basically sex education needs to be a whole lot better. It's not just anatomical drawings but what the risks are from infections and what the pros and cons are of having sex or waiting. "It's not a simple task to get young people empowered enough to use condoms, but it's the key. You want to ensure people are not having sex when they don't want to have it, and that when they do want to have it they are not putting themselves at risk." It's horrific. It's like giving a loaded gun to a child and telling them how it works, and then expecting them to make a wise decision not to use it. Children at this age do not have the ability to make such decisions, no matter how much education they receive. We have removed the teaching of morality from the classroom, and we believe that "education, education, education" will solve all our problems. We have destroyed the concept of the family unit, and in its place we teach our children that it is normal for parents not to be married, or to have only one parent, or two parents of the same sex. Unfortunately this is commonplace today, but I use "normal" in the sense that it is approved by society. And then we wonder why we have such problems? Over the past few years there has been a great decline in my country. The Bible states that during the last days, people's view of morality would become so twisted, that evil would be declared good and good would be thought of as evil (Isaiah 5:20). I never thought I would see that day, but today Christians are lambasted as intolerant bigots for abiding by God's laws, while those who favour "diversity" are honoured in this world. But as Peter said, we ought to obey God rather than men. There is a song I have of Johnny Cash, and the words go something like this... He'll be friend and guide you, He'll walk along with you You'll feel it there inside you, He'll help you make it through When things looked dark Noah saw the light, 'cause faith had told him right was might If you need a friend He'll guide you, He'll be a friend to you Right is might. Sometimes I do things that are wrong, and I afterwards I feel despondent because of my sins. But the Lord Jesus Christ cleanses me through His precious blood, and helps me to do right. And when we do right, we have strength from God. As in Noah's day things are looking dark, but we see the Light. And He'll be our friend and guide us until the journey's done. Psalm 73:22-26 So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before thee. Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand. Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee. My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever. Source BBC, Scotland on Sunday |

Two Christians have been killed and two others have been seriously wounded after after a gunman entered a YWAM missionary training centre in Denver, Colorado today. The man and woman who were killed were in their mid-twenties. One other person remains in critical condition. All four involved in the incident were employed at the centre. Quote: "Witnesses told police that the gunman was a 20-year-old white male, wearing a dark jacket and skull cap. He may have glasses or a beard. "There's no blueprint for this, we're just going to be honest and pray for one another, cry with one another," center director Peter Warren told KUSA-TV. "Who knows what was going on in this young man's life." There may be no blueprint for the recovery of those involved in this tragedy, but there certainly seems to be a blueprint to the mindless attacks which are being perpetrated by these individuals. It is the second such shooting to have occurred in the United States this week. Last Wednesday a man entered a shopping mall in Omaha, Nebraska and shot dead at least nine individuals. Robert Hawkins had underwent four years of psychiatric therapy for threatening to murder his grandmother. Acquaintances say he also had an addiction to drugs and a long history of mental depression. He left a three page suicide note explaining the reasons for his actions... Quote: "Killer Robert Hawkins, 19, apologised to his family, saying he couldn't take "this meaningless existence anymore". The teenager said he had been a "constant disappointment" and did not want to be a burden for his loved ones. He left the three-page note at the suburban house where he lived before going to the mall in Omaha, Nebraska. Hawkins opened fire with an AK-47, randomly shooting at people before committing suicide. And last month we had the terrible shooting at a school in Finland. My friend Olli-Pekka sent me an email on this tragedy. Pekka-Eric Auvinen shot dead seven pupils and a teacher in a bloody, premeditated rampage. He then turned the gun on himself. Auvinen had uploaded a video to YouTube portraying a high school massacre, along with the date he planned to carry out the attack. The killer had also stated on his website his motives for doing what he did, expressing his firm belief in evolution. He saw his own life the result of a meaningless evolutionary process, and through that conviction he saw nothing wrong with taking the lives of others. Quote: "Life is just meaningless coincidence... a result of long evolutive development and a result of many reasons and elements. However, life is also that, what an individual wants to do with it. And I am my own life's dictator and god. And I have chosen my way. I have prepared to fight and die for my thoughts. Myself, as natural chooser, eliminating everybody, whom I see unfit, disgrace to mankind and an error of natural selection. The famous British atheist and evolutionary scientist Richard Dawkins says, "Imagine no religion". I don't need to imagine, Richard. The evidence speaks for itself. Romans 1:28-31 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
