Firefighters in Greece are battling wildfires that have swept through the south of the country over the last three days. The country has suffered prolonged heatwaves, leaving woodlands tinder-dry. The Greek Prime Minister, Costas Karamanlis, has declared a nationwide state of emergency, as wildfires travelling around a mile every few minutes destroyed villages on the island of Evia, on Peloponnese and around Athens. The fires have so far claimed around 56 lives, and several individuals have been arrested for arson. Firefighters are being brought in from Israel and the European Union, and help is being offered to Greece by other governments. Quote: ""Fires are burning in more than half the country," fire department spokesman Nikos Diamandis said. "This is definitely an unprecedented disaster for Greece." Emergency workers and fire-fighting planes from other European Union countries have joined the battle against the fires, and more help is expected from countries outside the bloc. "Thirty-one planes and helicopters from various European countries and from Israel will be sent. We also have an offer of assistance from the American and Russian governments with whom I communicated yesterday evening," Greek Foreign Affairs Minister Dora Bakoyannis said. It's hard to understand how half the world can be suffering from an unprecedented deluge, while in Greece much of the countryside is going up in smoke due to lack of rain. In 2005 we had this exact same situation only it was reversed, with much of western Europe suffering prolonged heatwaves, while eastern Europe was flooded. The news media blamed this bizarre situation on a tilted jet stream. In that article I mentioned the little talked-about phenomenon of weather warfare. World governments have been experimenting with the earth's atmosphere for decades. Scientists have shown they can manipulate the jet stream by firing radio waves, called Extremely Low Frequency waves, into the upper atmosphere, heating it up and altering the weather patterns... Quote: "ELF fields...propagate vertically to the ground, creating 'standing waves'...that can redistribute energy and momentum in (atmosphere) through cumulus convection. It has been consistently noted that variance of the (Soviet) ELF transmissions leads to a subsequent change in the route of the jet stream flow in the Northern Hemisphere within 72 hours. As I said at the time, weather manipulation is real enough to warrant the United Nations to ban its use as a weapon of warfare. Countries are prohibited to use weather warfare against other states, but they are not prohibited to use it against their own people. All this talk about the urgent need to combat "global warming" seems to be a convenient excuse for the setting up of a "global government" to help tackle the crisis. Humanity needs an external crisis in order to unite the nations of earth under one authority. How much of this is a result of global warming, how much a result of changes in the sun or how much a result of weather manipulation, we cannot tell. But the Bible states that during the tribulation period, prolonged heatwaves will cause men to blaspheme God, and one third of the earth's vegetation will be burned up. More than ever, verses in the book of Revelation are reading like tomorrow's news headlines. Revelation 8:7 The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up. The World Meteorological Organization has published a new report stating that the world has witnessed a record breaking series of extreme weather patterns during the first half of 2007. The United Nations organization said that global land surface temperatures from January to April were most likely the hottest since records began, and that it was difficult to predict what sort of weather we should expect in the latter half of the year. The report listed some of the unusual weather patterns, with record breaking heatwaves across Europe in April and May, followed by the worst flooding since records began. South Africa, Argentina and Chile experienced unusually cold weather last month. Floods in India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Uruguay, Mozambique and China killed hundreds of people and displaced millions more. The Arabian Sea also witnessed the biggest storm in 60 years to hit the region, coming on the 40th anniversary of the Six Day War. Quote: "There have also been severe monsoon floods across South Asia, abnormally heavy rains in northern Europe, China, Sudan, Mozambique and Uruguay, extreme heatwaves in southeastern Europe and Russia, and unusual snowfall in South Africa and South America this year, the WMO said. "The start of the year 2007 was a very active period in terms of extreme weather events," Omar Baddour of the agency's World Climate Program told journalists in Geneva. The year 2005 entered the record books for the most hurricanes in one year. The year 2006 entered the record books for being the warmest in at least 2000 years. It looks like the year 2007 is already on record for being the wettest year in history. A couple of years ago, I was sitting with my work colleagues in a restaurant, and the topic happened to come around to the unusual weather. My friend Patricia said to me as a joke, I suppose you think all this bad weather means the end of the world is coming. I don't recall what my reply was. My work colleagues know I am a Christian, and Patricia does know the Gospel but is not saved. We've even had some conversations about the end times, but she believes that the end may come perhaps in her children's lifetime. And I guess that's the view most people take. They never think, what if the Lord returns in my lifetime? What if the events described in the book of Revelation unfold while I am alive? There was a time when the people of Israel thought the same, and they mocked the warnings of impending judgement... Ezekiel 12:27-28 Son of man, behold, they of the house of Israel say, The vision that he seeth is for many days to come, and he prophesieth of the times that are far off. Therefore say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; There shall none of my words be prolonged any more, but the word which I have spoken shall be done, saith the Lord GOD. The weather patterns do show us that the events spoken of regarding the last days are beginning to unfold. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has noted an increasing trend in extreme weather over the past fifty years - roughly from the time Israel became a nation. Certainly the world has always experienced extreme weather of one sort or another, but never before have all these prophetic events coalesced to form such a picture as we are seeing now. Christians need to be ready to meet their Lord, and sinners need to know their sins forgiven, for the coming of the Lord is at hand. Will He be coming as Saviour to deliver you from the wrath to come, or will you be experiencing His righteous judgement in an increasingly ungodly world? Source Reuters |

“And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity the sea and the waves roaring;” —Luke 21:25 While sidewalks crackle in the summer heat, NASA scientists are keeping a close eye on the sun . It is almost spotless, a sign that the Sun may have reached solar minimum. Scientists are now watching for the first spot of the new solar cycle to appear. |
