Former US Vice President Al Gore is to receive the Nobel peace prize today for his efforts to educate the public on the issue global warming. It seems Al Gore has now become the public face of the global warming campaign, following his recent video production on the phenomenon entitled, "An Inconvenient Truth". He is to share the award - which includes a cash prize of some $1.5 million, with the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. Al Gore was praised by the Nobel prize winners group as having done more to highlight the issue of global warming that any other person... Quote: ""His strong commitment, reflected in political activity, lectures, films and books, has strengthened the struggle against climate change," the citation said. "He is probably the single individual who has done most to create greater worldwide understanding of the measures that need to be adopted." Al Gore may be talking more about global warming than anyone else on the planet, but his extravagant lifestyle is also contributing more to global warming than anyone else on the planet. According to this news article, Al Gore burned as much kilowatt hours of electricity in the month of August than the average American family burns in two years. Other affluent people that have championed the global warming cause whilst directly contributing to its effects include many pop-stars who travelled the world in private jets, preaching to people how we need to cut down on our CO2 emissions. But Al Gore's video production which is being sent to schools across the United States and the United Kingdom will face a hard sell in Britain following a recent judicial ruling which branded it politically partisan. Quote: "In what is a rare judicial ruling on what children can see in the class-room, Mr Justice Barton was at pains to point out that the "apocalyptic vision" presented in the film was politically partisan and not an impartial analysis of the science of climate change. "It is plainly, as witnessed by the fact that it received an Oscar this year for best documentary film, a powerful, dramatically presented and highly professionally produced film," he said in his ruling. "It is built around the charismatic presence of the ex-Vice-President, Al Gore, whose crusade it now is to persuade the world of the dangers of climate change caused by global warming. "It is now common ground that it is not simply a science film - although it is clear that it is based substantially on scientific research and opinion – but that it is a political film." The judge also found nine distinct errors made in the video presented by Gore as evidence for climate change, although he agreed that global warming was a problem that needed to be addressed. The head of Creation Research John Mackay announced on Revelation TV on Wednesday night that his organization has produced a video on climate change from a Biblical perspective, entitled A Really Inconvenient Truth. John Mackay said he believed the real reason why Al Gore was presented with a Nobel peace prize for his video is because he is pushing a globalist response to what is being portrayed as a global problem. If politicians can present global warming as a imminent threat to every nation on earth, the next stage will be to set up a global authority to address the issue. Politicians need some sort of external crisis in order for people to agree to a one world government, and two of these seem to have afflicted the world of late, global warming and global terrorism. Perhaps through the Divine judgements of Revelation, combined with the wars in the Middle East, the people of the world will only be too glad to hand over their sovereignty to a world leader. Revelation 13:7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. A series of freak tornadoes swept through parts of the United Kingdom today, lifting the roofs off houses, overturning caravans and causing much damage to property. Nine storms were reported by the MET Office, at least five of which were full blown tornadoes. The September weather has been generally dry and sunny this year, although somewhat windy over the last few days. But residents in Northampton, Luton, Breaston, Farnborough, Hants, and Nuneaton were taken by surprise by the freak weather. Some reported the sky turning blacking, followed by gales of up to 60mph which lasted for just a few minutes... Quote: "Terence Meaden, Deputy Head of the UK's Tornado and Storm Research Organisation, said the storms were "quite a big event", second only to those of last December when Britain was hit by at least 12 tornadoes across the country. "Some of the places definitely had tornadoes because they were seen -- I would say that we have nine events which could be tornadoes and some of them certainly were," Meaden told BBC Television. It seems the freak weather Britain is experiencing is becoming all too common. The city of Manchester has been hit by around six earthquakes in the month of August. The first six months of this year saw Britain's most costliest natural disaster, with torrential rains causing over £6 billion worth of damage. And two tornadoes struck British town centres at the beginning of Israel's disengagement from Gaza within the space of one week. The UK is hit by around 30 tornadoes per year, but most are formed out at sea or in remote areas. Tornadoes hitting town centres seems to be a relatively recent development, at least as far as I can remember. As the Bible states in Hosea 8:7, those that sow to the wind will reap the whirlwind. Our national sins are causing the Lord to remove his hand of protection upon this nation, and I believe we can only expect more adverse problems. When I think of this sinful nation, it depresses me. But I like to think that the Church of God, the whole company of believers in Jesus Christ, are a righteous nation, a nation of priests, holy unto the Lord. One day this nation of believers will be caught up into God's heaven, where our eyes shall behold the King in His beauty. Are you part of this righteous nation? Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb? Trust in Jesus Christ for salvation today. Isaiah 26:2 Open ye the gates, that the righteous nation which keepeth the truth may enter in. Source Reuters |

There have been an awful lot of articles I could have commented on today... a new high-tech GPS device for tracking children, increasing fears of the collapse of the dollar, the Euro becoming the reserve currency of choice, Israeli Prime Minister Olmert talking about peace with Syria, just to name a few. I just don't have enough time to cover it all! But I have chosen to comment on environmental issues this afternoon. While political, economic and technological changes are indicators of the days we are living in, I believe the environmental issues that we are facing today are most profound. For we assume that environmental conditions are generally not influenced by mankind, and may give a more sure indication of the imminent fulfilment of Biblical prophecy. I have already comment several times on the price of bread. The extensive flooding has decimated crops worldwide, causing the price of wheat to rise significantly. Recently the Israeli government announced that it would increase the price of bread by around 12.5%, and would ultimately end the price-supervision completely following pressure from bakeries who are losing money due to increased costs. European grain prices are at their highest in 10 years following the torrential flooding in the first half of this year. And now Australia has announced that it has slashed its estimates on this year's wheat harvest due to lack of rain. Farmers have warned that unless heavy rain comes within the next few weeks, the country's harvest will be reduced by over 30% compared to initial estimates. Quote: "It said the amount of wheat harvested would be 30% lower than it originally predicted. Even that might prove an optimistic assessment with farmers warning that if there is not heavy rain over the next few weeks, their crops will be even more meagre. Up until now, September's rainfall has been below average and adverse weather has already reduced harvests in Europe and North America. International wheat prices have risen by over 350% in the past five years, with global reserves now at their lowest level since the early 1980s. Meanwhile, China is bracing itself for what is being described as the "most destructive typhoon in a decade". Typhoon Wipha is heading directly for the treaty port of Zhejiang, and around 200,000 people are being evacuated from neighbouring Shanghai. The typhoon is expected to make landfall in Zhejiang on Wednesday, and the Zhejiang provincial government has warned that it is heading directly for the most economically developed and densely populated region of the province. Quote: ""Typhoon Wipha was 440 km (270 miles) southeast of the former foreign treaty port of Wenzhou in Zhejiang at 4:00 a.m. British time. With gusts of up to 198 km per hour, it was moving northwest at 20 km per hour, Xinhua news agency said, putting it on a course to skirt Taiwan. "East China, including the commercial hub of Shanghai, is preparing for what may be the most destructive typhoon in a decade," the agency said. Revelation 6 mentions four world conditions that will characterize the tribulation period. The first is war, the second is terrorism, the third is hyper-inflation, and the fourth is disease and death. With today's news, it is easy to see how these prophecies will soon come to pass. We have talk of a third world war with Islam, terrorism is now a global phenomenon, extreme weather conditions are driving the cost of basic necessities up and my own country is experiencing yet more trouble with foot and mouth disease. Even the heavens and earth are witnessing that the judgement of this world is at hand. But who will heed the warnings? Luke 21:25-28 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh. Source BBC, Reuters |

Ukrainian President Victor Yushchenko has announced that a new containment facility is to be constructed to cover the Chernobyl nuclear reactor. A French firm will build a massive steel arch, 190 metres tall and 200 metres wide on top of the existing sarcophagus, which was hastily erected following the 1986 nuclear disaster. Chernobyl still contains around 95% of its nuclear fuel - some 200 tonnes, and its concrete tomb is disintegrating sparking fears of an imminent collapse. There are also fears that the steel lid reactor number 4 could collapse, once again spreading deadly radiation throughout Europe. The Chernobyl nuclear disaster released 400 times more radiation than that of the bomb on Hiroshima, and affects the lives of more than 1.5 million people today. Quote: "The casing project is expected to cost $1.4bn (£700m). It will take five years to complete and the authorities say they will then be able to start dismantling the reactor. Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko hailed the project: "Today is probably the first time that we can openly look into the eyes of the national and international community and say that a solution to the problem that has long been called the Chernobyl problem was formally found," he said. Nuclear weapons inspector, Hans Blix, had this to say about the Chernobyl nuclear disaster... Quote: "Most striking is the testimony of Hans Blix, Executive Director of the International Atomic Energy Agency, in a speech given before the UN General Assembly on October 23, 1990. To this great body he quoted Revelation 8:10-11 and said, "In Slavic languages, including the Ukrainian and Byelorussian languages, there is a word ëchernobyl', which means wormwood, bitter grass. This has a striking relevance to the Chernobyl tragedy. I am no fatalist. I do not believe in the blind inevitability of fate, but who can fail to be moved by these tragic and elegiac words from Revelation, which must leave their indelible imprint on the heart." Revelation 8:10-11 And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters; And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter. The prophetic significance of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster does not end there. In Revelation 8, John describes a star called Wormwood, which falls upon the earth making the waters bitter. The Chernobyl nuclear reactor essentially operates in the same manner as the core of a star, using nuclear reactions to generate electricity. Those who were unfortunate enough to witness the nuclear explosion saw a luminous cloud, burning like a lamp, which eventually descended spreading its deadly radiation throughout Europe. The radiation from the explosion lierally burned everything within its line of sight, leavening a permanent "shadow" which can still be seen today. The radioisotopes that contaminated this region have a half life of hundreds of thousands of years. Is it possible that we have not seen the last of Chernobyl? Source BBC, End Time |
