Once again we have this phrase, the "one voice" of Europe. Why is Europe so keen to speak with one voice? And who has given Europe the authority to speak on behalf of its member states in areas such as this? Through the efforts of Javier Solana, great strides have been made towards increased European unity. Solana has overseen the pooling of Europe's defence markets, its military, its police force, and now an energy czar will be appointed who will be directly accountable to Javier Solana himself. Somebody once said, control food and you can control the individual. Control energy and you can control nations. Following the ratification of the new EU Constitution in 2009, when Solana will officially take the title of EU Foreign Minister, the amount of power invested in this one man will be phenomenal. We don't know that Solana will be the Antichrist, no man knows. But the Bible states that the Antichrist will come from a Revived Roman Empire, and I can see events in Europe leading up to his appearance. The book of Revelation states that one day, a man will arrive on the scene who will be given a mouth boasting great things. With the myriads of articles detailing Europe's desire to speak with "one voice", I think it is clear to see that the appearance of such a man as described in the Scriptures must be at hand.

European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso has praised Christian churches for helping to encourage closer European integration. The Commission President made the comments while attending an ecumenical conference in Romania on Thursday. Around 2000 people attended the gathering, with representatives from Roman Catholic, Protestant, Anglican and Orthodox denominations. The conference is being held by the Conference of European Churches and the Council of European Bishop's Conferences, whose aim is to find ways towards the reconciliations of all Christian denominations in Europe. Barroso called on the conference delegates to create better understanding between the peoples of Europe, through the promotion of mutual respect in a context of shared values.

Quote: ""The European Commission has always recognised the commitment of Christian churches, which since the beginning have gone along with and encouraged the great adventure of building Europe," Barroso told participants at the third European Ecumenical Assembly. "The churches' contribution to the European unification process is even more relevant when looked at in an ecumenical spirit," he added.

The book of Revelation states that during the tribulation period, a whore will ride the Beast. The Beast is the seventh and last kingdom which shall rule over the earth (Daniel 7:23), also known as the Revived Roman Empire or presently the European Union. There are different opinions as to the identity of the whore in Revelation 17, but I believe that this refers to a false religious system that shall control the Beast during the first half of the tribulation period. A city that sits on seven hills (Rome), rules over many peoples (Europe), a cup in her hand (communion), drunk with the blood of saints (inquisition), great material wealth (Vatican), dressed in scarlet and purple (priests), that reigns over kings (Pope), seems to me to fit the description of Rome quite well. Europe also gets its name from the goddess "Europa", who was carried off by Zeus, disguised as a bull. As we can see, the Roman Catholicism is seeking to bring all Christendom back to "mother church". Many Christians, including many saved Catholics, gave their lives so that we could have the freedom to read and understand the Scriptures in our own language. And in the name of ecumenicalism, many so-called Christians would gladly bring us back into spiritual bondage with this whore. According to Revelation it seems that is the way things will go, for one of the names given to the whore is "Mother of Harlots", Revelation 17:5, indicating that this whore has given birth to children of like character. But praise God that the Lord Jesus Christ is coming for His Bride, His undefiled one, made up of all true believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, who has washed us from our sins in His own blood (Revelation 1:5).

Presidential candidate Senator Hilary Clinton, wife of former US President Bill Clinton, has come under fire for her endorsement of a ex-anchorman who advocates handing the sovereignty of the United States to a global federalist government. This is what the former CBS newscaster, Walter Cronkite, had to say at his acceptance speech for the Norman Cousins Global Governance Award on October 19th, 1999...

Following his speech, then First Lady Hilary Clinton gave Cronkite a ringing endorsement, stating, "For decades you told us 'the way it is,' but tonight we honour you for fighting for the way it could be". As WorldNetDaily reports, Senator Clinton has so far refused to address the issue of the North American Union during her presidential campaign. President Bush is pushing through legislation that will see a European Union style alliance emerge in North America, without the approval of the American public. As we can see from the above speech, politicians, non-governmental organizations and media moguls are not only bent on establishing a New World Order behind our backs, but Christians that must oppose such a plan on Biblical principles are seen as the number one enemy. For the Bible states there will be a global government during the tribulation period, which will be headed by a man, the Antichrist, who will scatter the power of the holy people. As we can see by Scripture, the very fact that news anchors, who are supposed to report news and have no views of their own, are advocating the creation of a global federalist government - in opposition to the will of the people, especially Christians - shows us that we are now living in the last days, and that these things must shortly come to pass.

Javier Solana, the High Representative for the European Common, Foreign and Security Policy, is due to meet with Israeli and Palestinian leaders over the next few days, as EU leaders prepare for the upcoming peace conference in November. Solana will meet with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah today, and with Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni in Jerusalem on Monday. The future EU Foreign Minister stated that he is optimistic about progress being made, but stated that both sides need to make full use of this opportunity for peace.

The ministers are expected to discuss, among other issues, the Middle East and particularly the Israeli-Palestinian arena. Abbas believes an international conference will be a failure without concrete progress being made on the key issues, such as the division of Jerusalem and Palestinian refugees.

The EU is already playing a major role in the Middle East peace process. The European Union has allocated more aid for the Palestinian Authority this year than any year previous, a staggering 700 million Euros, despite the international boycott of Hamas. The EU is currently training the Palestinian police force (EUPOL COPPS) and acts as a third party in monitoring the Rafah border (EUBAM). The EU recently launched its biggest peace keeping force in its history, sending some 12,000 soldiers to south Lebanon to monitor to the cease fire between Israel and Hizbullah. Both Israeli and EU politicians are pushing for Europe to expand that role to cover peace keeping in Gaza. The Bible tells us that the Antichrist, who will be of the people that destroyed Jerusalem in 70AD, will strengthen an agreement reached by Israel and the surrounding nations for a seven year period. It is clear to see that, as Scripture predicts, it will fall to the EU to be the guarantor of peace and security in the region.
