Javier Solana, the High Representative for the European Common, Foreign and Security Policy, is due to meet with Israeli and Palestinian leaders over the next few days, as EU leaders prepare for the upcoming peace conference in November. Solana will meet with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah today, and with Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni in Jerusalem on Monday. The future EU Foreign Minister stated that he is optimistic about progress being made, but stated that both sides need to make full use of this opportunity for peace.  

Quote: "Solana's visit comes at the beginning of the political season in the EU and several days before the scheduled meeting of EU foreign ministers in Portugal. The ministers are expected to discuss, among other issues, the Middle East and particularly the Israeli-Palestinian arena. Solana will meet with Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Speaker of the Knesset Dalia Itzik, Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, Defense Minister Ehud Barak, and with Vice Prime Minister Haim Ramon. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs assigns great importance to Solana's visit, against the backdrop of the EU's increased involvement in the region and the anticipated upgrade in bilateral relations between Israel and the EU.

During Javier Solana's discussions with President Abbas, an aide to Abbas stated that there needs to be a framework agreement worked out between Israel and the Palestinians, with a clear timeline for implementation. Abbas believes an international conference will be a failure without concrete progress being made on the key issues, such as the division of Jerusalem and Palestinian refugees. 

Quote: "Abbas has been pressing a reluctant Israel to discuss in depth matters at the core of any future agreement on Palestinian statehood - the shape of final borders and the fate of Jerusalem and Palestinian refugees. "We need a framework agreement with a timeline for implementation," a senior Abbas aide said, describing the Palestinian leader's position. At a news conference with Javier Solana, the European Union's foreign policy chief, Abbas said: "We do not want a meeting that results in merely a statement. We do not want a meeting that will end up a failure for everybody."

Meanwhile, King Abdullah II of Jordan has called for greater EU involvement in the Middle East peace process, during a meeting with Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi...

Quote: ""European nations with Italy in the forefront must play a more active role to back Arab and international efforts to bring Palestinians and Israelis back to the negotiating table," Abdullah was quoted as saying.

The EU is already playing a major role in the Middle East peace process. The European Union has allocated more aid for the Palestinian Authority this year than any year previous, a staggering 700 million Euros, despite the international boycott of Hamas. The EU is currently training the Palestinian police force (EUPOL COPPS) and acts as a third party in monitoring the Rafah border (EUBAM). The EU recently launched its biggest peace keeping force in its history, sending some 12,000 soldiers to south Lebanon to monitor to the cease fire between Israel and Hizbullah. Both Israeli and EU politicians are pushing for Europe to expand that role to cover peace keeping in Gaza. The Bible tells us that the Antichrist, who will be of the people that destroyed Jerusalem in 70AD, will strengthen an agreement reached by Israel and the surrounding nations for a seven year period. It is clear to see that, as Scripture predicts, it will fall to the EU to be the guarantor of peace and security in the region.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy made his first foreign policy speech today since his election in May of this year. In his speech, he called for a strong European Union to rebuild a more "harmonious world order". Sarkozy said a committee of 10 experts should be set up to decide where Europe's geographical borders end, and what the bloc's mission should be in the future. He called for the EU to develop strong defence, immigration and environmental policies, and promised that France would undertake strong initiatives to build European defences in co-operation with NATO. Regarding the Middle East, he stated that France would work to prevent Iran acquiring nuclear weapons, and that this was "undoubtedly the most serious crisis before us today". He also rebuked President Putin over Russia's belligerence in using its oil and gas wealth to bully other nations.

Quote: ""The emergence of a strong Europe as a major player on the international scene can contribute in a decisive way to rebuilding a more efficient, fair and harmonious world order," Sarkozy told foreign ambassadors in Paris. "I count myself among those who believe that friendship between the United States and France is as important today as it was during the past two centuries," he added.

Sarkozy is a man to be watched. He has some Jewish blood in him also. His family name is Hungarian, as his family was from there. I have always felt something strange about this man. In John 5:43 Yeshua told His disciples "I have come in my Fathers name and you received me not, "another" shall come in "his own name" and "him" you "will" receive.....Could a Gentile catholic "sarkozy" with some Jewish blood be the one that will talk Israel into receiving him??? watch this space. 

His vision of a new harmonious world order reads a lot like that of Gordon Brown, the newly appointed British Prime Minister. Gordon Brown outlined his own globalist foreign policy in June, in which he stated the 21st century would witness the creation of a new global economic order, bringing a period of greater economic stability and wealth.

But what is the "next stage of globalization"? Why do we need to become part of a global community? Who has voted to become part of a global community? And who will head up this new "harmonious world order"? Has anybody asked these questions, or do people just blindly accept that the politicians must know what they are doing? Technological change does play a part, but political change is driven by individuals, not technology. The Bible states that globalization will continue, until such a time that all earthly authorities come under one man. Today, nations of the earth are willingly offering up their sovereignty to regional power blocs in return for economic and political stability. During the tribulation period, the Antichrist will appear to have all the solutions to this world's problems, and it seems that these regional power blocs will again willingly offer up their sovereignty to the Antichrist for a short period of time. We can't stop globalization from happening, but it is a sign that the events foretold in Scripture must shortly come to pass.

Javier Solana, the High Representative for the European Common, Foreign and Security Policy, will travel to Manila next week to take part in an ASEAN summit to discuss regional security issues. The Association of South East Asian Nations is a political and economic organization similar to that of the European Union. It is made up of the states of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. The states are seeking to form an ASEAN Economic Community by the year 2020 through the creation of a common market, a single regional currency and the integration of transport, telecommunications services and energy resources. They also hope to create a new ASEAN "common regional identity" similar to that of "Europeans", eroding the ideas of nationalism and sovereignty and promoting the idea of "global governance".

Quote: "In articles published in several leading Asian papers ahead of his visit, Solana said the EU had a major stake in a stable and prosperous Asia. "Our political, security and economic interests are more intertwined than ever," said Solana, adding that Europe and Asia also shared a commitment to a system of global governance which effectively addresses trans-national problems.

As many of you know, "global governance" is the new catch-phrase that is replacing the term of the "New World Order". It doesn't sound as confrontational, but it means exactly the same thing. Europe's political, security and economic interests are also "more intertwined than ever". Of course there are benefits to be gained from increased co-operation between states, namely a measure of peace and prosperity. And apart from what the Scriptures state, I would be lauding man's efforts to create peace and stability in the world. But the Bible predicts that the last great empire, a Revived Roman Empire or European Union, will pave the way for coming of the Antichrist. Solana has been given authority over Europe's crisis-management machinery, and he will be speaking about this during his visit to Manila. During the the tribulation period, the world will experience a time of unprecedented crisis, when the powers of the heavens will be shaken (Matthew 24:29). At this time the Antichrist will be given complete authority over the whole earth (Revelation 13:7), and it will be said of him, "Who is like unto the Beast? Who is able to make war with him?", Revelation 13:4. And he shall make war, and prevail, against the tribulation saints. Revelation also states that he shall make war with the Lamb - Jesus Christ, as He returns to set up His kingdom (Revelation 19:19). Whose side are you on, the world's or the Lord's? Have you said as Thomas did, "My Lord and my God", John 20:28, or have you said in your heart, "I will not have this Man to reign over me", Luke 19:14? Trust in Jesus Christ for salvation today.

One of Tony Blair's last acts as Prime Minister of Great Britain was to sign the new European "Constitution", effectively committing the nation to handing over yet more of its sovereignty to the European Union. The Prime Minister gave the impression that he was opposed to giving Brussels more control over British foreign policy, openly opposing the creation of the role of an EU Foreign Minister (or at least its title) and giving of the EU a permanent seat at the UN Security Council. But according to an EU official, and according to EU Constitution author Giscard d'Estaing, the main text of the "treaty" is essentially unchanged from the original draft of the Constitution. Conservative MP William Hague has lambasted the Labour government for paving the way for the creation of a federal European state, and has called on the new Prime Minister Gordon Brown to permit a public referendum on the new treaty. 

Quote: "Provisions, drawn word for word from the old constitution, giving the EU "foreign minister" speaking rights from Britain's and France's UN seats will be included in a draft treaty to be presented to a meeting of foreign ministers on Monday, diplomats have confirmed. "When the Union has defined a position on a subject which is on the United Nations Security Council agenda, those member states which sit on the Security Council shall request that the Union Minister for Foreign Affairs be asked to present the Union's position," the text states. 

As Solana-watcher Constance Cumbey states, this provision for the EU to take the seat of Britain or France at the United Nations will give Europe a much greater presence on the world stage. Students of Bible Prophecy have long predicted the rise of a final world empire in the form of a European super-state, hundreds of years before the European Union even existed. And the Bible seems to indicate that it will be from this empire that the Antichrist will eventually emerge. We don't know whether Javier Solana will be the man or not, but what we are seeing now is certainly leading up to a time when one man will be able to exercise global authority over the whole earth.

People are generally not interested in such events. They are happy as long as nothing affects how they live their lives. But soon Satan will engineer things in such a way that the whole world will cry out for a man to deliver them and give them peace. The rise in "global terrorism" - something that was virtually unheard of before the year 2000, growing religious "fundamentalism", the disruption of global weather patterns, the coming economic collapse of America, conflict in half a dozen Middle East states... these things are in the news everyday. Satan has his man waiting in the isles, but he can't make a move until we are out of here.

When Christ comes for His Church, will you be caught up to be with Him where He is, or will you be left behind to face the wrath of a righteous God? Either you are for Christ or you are against Him, there is no middle ground. The Bible states that all of those who are not saved will worship the Antichrist, and will seal their doom in the lake of fire...

Revelation 13:8

Trust in Jesus Christ for salvation today, He is merciful but His Spirit will not always strive with man.
