As preparations intensify ahead of the international peace conference to be held in Annapolis on Tuesday, the European Union has published a document detailing its efforts to help strengthen any future agreement between Israel and the surrounding nations. The document was co-authored by High Representative for the EU Common, Foreign and Security Policy Javier Solana and EU Commissioner for External Relations Benita Ferrero-Waldner. It was endorsed by the 27 Foreign Ministers of the European Union last week. As my friend Patsy pointed out, the 60th anniversary of the UN vote to partition "Palestine" falls on the day following the Annapolis peace conference (November 29th). In 1947 the British Mandate of Palestine had already been partitioned once, the government handing over four fifths of the territory for the creation of an Arab state now called Jordan. The remaining land was originally promised for the Jewish people, but the Arab nations weren't happy with the idea of a Jewish state being established at all, and most voted against the partition plan of 1947. Once again the nations of the world are gathering to barter over the division of God's land. In these latest negotiations, it seems that the issue of Palestinian terrorism is taking a back seat, while Israel will be in the dock. For this "peace" conference is not being advertised as such, rather it is being promoted as the beginning of negotiations to divide the land. And behind this process stands the European Union, ready to assist in "statebuilding for peace". Quote: "Comprehensive peace in the Middle East is a strategic objective for the European Union. Any lasting and just settlement to the conflict should be based on the principle of land for peace, relevant UNSC resolutions, the Arab Peace Initiative, the Roadmap and previous agreements reached between the parties. The EU considers that the present opportunity should not be missed and is ready to take its responsibilities, in accordance with the vital European interests involved. The EU is therefore committed to supporting current efforts in a serious and substantive way, offering a comprehensive and coherent contribution to the process, including during the crucial implementation period. The European Union calls on all other interested parties to support the current process, bearing in mind the high cost of failure for everyone involved. If you read this article in full, you will see that the European Union's contribution towards peace in the Middle East is quite substantial. The EU is presently assisting the Palestinian Authority in training a police force (EUPOLCOPPS), establishing governmental institutions, supporting the Palestinian economy through aid and by encouraging trade through its monitoring of the Rafah border. The European Union is planning to increase its involvement in these areas during the transition period between the signing of an agreement and the establishment of a Palestinian state. The EU is also ready to contribute to a solution on final status issues, through supporting Palestinian institutions in East Jerusalem, supporting agencies working with Palestinian refugees and offering its services in policing any future agreement. Quote: "Security arrangements: if requested, the EU will be ready in due course to contribute to a system of security arrangements that would be agreed between the parties in the framework of a permanent settlement. So there we have it. The nations of the world are once again pressing for the division of God's land, and the EU stands ready to strengthen (Daniel 9:27) and monitor (Daniel 11:31) any future agreement, just as the Scriptures predicted. As I commented last week, the external pressures on Israel and the Palestinians to agree a deal are becoming greater than the forces keeping them apart. That's basically what the EU is saying in asking other parties to "bear in mind the high cost of failure for everyone involved". What actually happens at Annapolis is anybody's guess. My guess is that there will be no dramatic announcement made, but that it will be yet another step along the road towards the division of the land and the ultimate fulfilment of end time prophecy. Joel 3:1-2 For, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall bring again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem (Judea, Samaria, East Jerusalem), I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land. Members of the Arab League met in Cairo today, in an effort to forge consensus ahead of the upcoming international peace conference to be held in Annapolis next Tuesday. Foreign Ministers from eleven Arab states were briefed by Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas on progress being made in negotiations with Israel. The Arab League has called for future talks following Annapolis to be based on the Arab Peace Initiative, which offers Arab recognition for Israel in return for a complete withdrawal from all territory captured during the Six Day War and the right of return for Palestinian refugees. Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Moallem has convinced the Arab League to call for the issue of the Golan Heights to be addressed at the conference, and despite Israeli objections it seems the US has consented to their request. Quote: "Chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat also said that the Annapolis meeting will revive the stalled peace process. "(The Palestinians) have for seven years witnessed a frozen political process," Erekat said. "Now the question is not whether we should go or not, but strategically, how will we go as Arabs?" "We want peace, but it won't be for whatever price," he added and referred to the borders of a Palestinian state, the status of east Jerusalem and the future of millions of Palestinian refugees as preconditions for peace. Israel had initially objected to the Golan Heights being discussed at the conference. Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni had stated that Annapolis was not the place to resolve this issue, but it appears that the Arab nations are demanding that all issues pertaining to the division of the land are addressed. The Palestinians are demanding peace, but not at any price, whereas the Israeli Prime Minister is prepared to offer peace at any price... Something I just noticed. Not one mention of Palestinian terrorism in these articles. Not one mention of Israel's disengagement from Gaza, and the ongoing Palestinian terrorism emanating from that territory. All that seems to matter is Israel and the land it must give back. If Israel accedes to their request, will the Jordanians send troops to patrol Judea and Samaria? Will the Egyptians work to prevent arms smuggling into Gaza? I doubt it somehow. At the end of the day, Israel will have to make its own peace. And according to Scripture, we know where this process is leading. For the Bible states that during Daniel's 70th week, the Antichrist will seek to divide the land of Israel for His own gain (Daniel 11:39). And this agreement with many nations (Daniel 9:27) will commence a time of great trouble for the unbelieving Jews. Only when they recognize their Messiah Yeshua, will there be true peace on earth and goodwill to all men. Genesis 17:8 And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God. The European Union has agreed to support any peace agreement that emerges as a result of the international peace conference, to be held in Annapolis, Maryland within the next week or so. EU Foreign Ministers endorsed a report, written by High Representative for the European Common, Foreign and Security Policy Javier Solana, and EU External Relations Commissioner Benita Ferrero-Waldner, at a meeting in Brussels today. The endorsement comes as Quartet Special Envoy Tony Blair published some of his own initiatives to help create a viable Palestinian economy, to boost the prospects of peace in the region. Quote: "The report makes clear EU aid will be made available to boost the Palestinian police force, health, education and judiciary departments. Also, the EU stands ready to provide broad economic assistance while continuing humanitarian aid in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, Ferrero-Waldner told reporters. "We are happy that Annapolis seems to be taking place," Ferrero-Waldner told reporters. She said post-Annapolis aid measures would benefit the Palestinian economy and, in turn, meet Israel's long-standing demand for security guarantees. "We know that Israel always fears for the security of its population," said Ferrero-Waldner. She said if the Palestinian economy can be revived, "there will be hope again" for peace. In 2007, aid to the Palestinians from the EU and its member states will total about €1 billion (US$1.47 billion). And as the Annapolis conference looms, the Israeli and Palestinian negotiating teams are continuing to work on a joint declaration that will be read out at the international peace conference. It had previously been reported that Israel and the Palestinians had all but given up hope that a joint statement could be formulated. The Israeli Prime Minister's Office denied that report, although Israeli and Palestinian officials admitted the negotiations were in deadlock. Quote: "Israeli officials say they are envision a statement that would frame the core issues - which include security arrangements, borders, the status of Jerusalem and the fate of the Palestinian refugees - without spelling out solutions. The Palestinian side had originally wanted a more detailed document with a timeline for solving the conflict. Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has been trying to shore up Arab support for Palestinian Authority President Abbas. Today Israel released 441 Palestinian prisoners as part of a "good will" gesture to ahead of the Annapolis conference. Olmert has also announced he intends to end the construction of new settlements in Judea and Samaria and remove illegal settlements in the territory, stating that Israel was obligated to abide by the principles laid down in the "Roadmap to Peace" document. It is difficult to know what will come of this peace initiative. In any case, steps are being made towards the fulfilment of end time prophecy. As was said in a recent news article, by agreeing to end the construction of new settlements, Olmert has given the signal that Israel's presence in Judea and Samaria is only temporary. Matthew 24:15-17 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house: Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes. And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day: For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. The agenda of the Bush continues to move forward as a "whirlwind" whose destiny is to cause havoc. There is no doubt today the easy lifestyle of Americans have made them lazy. For many do not believe that God would actually hold any nation accountable for what they do. This month Rice is pushing the administration’s line to bring the two state solution to the Land of Israel. It is there that this group of uninformed politicians from America would like to make its last stand, which for Israel would be the last. In an interview the Israeli Journalist and author, Barry Chamish the subject of Israel always comes up. The subject is one, which Barry, who describes himself as a secular journalist, doesn’t put any religious ideas into what he writes. When the idea that Israel would actually continue to be in existence, Barry has a short, terse answer. "She will be completely destroyed". Further, Barry insists, that by "December", he expects Israel to be non existent. In our office we receive first hand reports from Israel all the time. The conclusion for many is that the United States is on the verge of completing its plan to bring in the two state solution, come hell or high water. Jerry Golden, a messianic Jewish minister in Jerusalem recently spoke on this subject. He said, and I agree that: "The politicians would like for you to believe that nothing has been decided on Israel’s surrender to the Islamic Arabs on the division of Jerusalem." Jerry continues by saying "but thanks to George Bush, Rice and God only knows who else, the lines have been drawn and Border Crossings and walls are going up as you read this article." |
