Javier Solana, the High Representative for the European Common, Foreign and Security Policy, has given an interview with the Jerusalem Post newspaper, defining the European Union's role in the Middle East peace process. The article outlines Solana's long history of involvement in the European Union, being Secretary General of the 10 nation Western European Union, and Secretary General of the Council of the European Union. The publisher also mentions his future post of EU Foreign Minister following the ratification of the Lisbon Treaty. Readers of this website and others will be well aware of Solana's position and its possible relationship with the fulfilment of end time prophecy. In the interview, Javier Solana states that Middle East peace is a strategic priority for the European Union, and he believes they can achieve the goals agreed upon at the Annapolis peace conference in November 2007. Solana goes on to state that the European Neighbourhood Policy, a framework of agreements between the European Union and its sixteen closest neighbours, was designed to further progress in the Barcelona Process which seeks to bring about peace and security in the Middle East. Israel was the first nation to sign up to the ENP, and just last week it became the first member to qualify for participation in special EU programmes...

Quote: "Israel was the first non-EU country that took part in the European Framework Program for Research and Technological Development, and in the Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Program, as well as one of the first participants in the Galileo project, the Global Navigation Satellite System of the EU, and in the European Space Agency. The European Commission recently described Israel as the "front-runner" among non-EU members participating in EU programs. A "reflection group" is considering areas where EU-Israel relations can be substantially upgraded to a "special status."

We can witness that the European Union is taking this responsibility seriously, for instance through our many European Security and Defense Policy missions, of which the first two operate in the Middle East.

According to the Scriptures, we believe that a ruler from the Revived Roman Empire will be the one who will strengthen a covenant between Israel and its enemies (Daniel 9:27). As we can see today, the European Union is already heavily involved in the Middle East peace process, and stands ready and willing to support any agreement that is reached. We are not told in the Bible how this covenant will come about, but the fact that it will happen is plainly stated in Scripture. The question is, what covenant have you made with God? The Bible states that only those who have made a covenant with God through sacrifice will be redeemed.

Psalm 50:3-6
Our God shall come, and shall not keep silence: a fire shall devour before him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about him. He shall call to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that he may judge his people. Gather my saints together unto me; those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice. What sort of sacrifice does God require? The only sacrifice that God has accepted is that of His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ (Isaiah 53:11). You see, no sacrifice that you could ever make would match up to His. For He was sinless, and you are a sinner. We deserve to die because of our sins (Ezekiel 18:4), but Jesus Christ had no sin (1st John 3:5). Then why did He die? Because He loves you so much that He chose to die in your place. A former Siberian traffic cop has gained a cult following of around 5000 people, after claiming he is none other than Jesus Christ. As the son of a Siberian construction worker, Sergei Torop had a typical upbringing. He joined the Soviet army at the age of 18 and spent two years in an army construction unit. After leaving the army he joined the police department, working night shifts on traffic duty. But all that changed in 1990 when at age 29, he said he felt something wake up inside of him , and suddenly he recognised his 'divine nature'. Now Sergei lives in a mountain-top home, where he plans on building a utopia in the Siberian wilderness, with the help of his faithful followers. He claims that he is the second incarnation of Jesus Christ, and proclaims a message of peace and harmony for all mankind. His followers call him 'Vissarion', or the 'one who gives life'... 

Quote: "In about 1990, when he was 29, he recounted, "something woke up inside of me" and he realized his divine nature. He said he then understood that God had sent him to Earth because hatred and war and environmental degradation had become rampant. "To do what I'm called to do, I need to have a human body," he said. "I live in a body in order to bring man closer to God." "This is the first time I have been needed in 2,000 years. This is a critical point. Only when mankind becomes one family on Earth will the doors to the universe become open to them."

But Sergei is an impostor. There are no nail prints in his hands. There is no spear wound in his side (John 20:27). When the disciples asked the Lord Jesus Christ how they would recognize the time of the end, the Lord replied saying, "Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many", Matthew 24:3-5. And so when we hear of so many people now claiming to be the Messiah, we know that the time Jesus Christ was speaking of is now at hand. But it's not only the lack of nail prints which reveal Sergei to be an impostor. It's also his message, proclaiming peace and unity for mankind, and offering them power if only they will unite as "one family". Jesus Christ never proclaimed such a message. In fact, the origin of this message is none other than that old serpent, the devil, and was first propagated in the garden of Eden (Genesis 3:5). The same message was later proclaimed by those who sought to build the tower of Babel (Genesis 11:4). And in sending all these 'little messiahs' to proclaim his message, Satan is preparing the world for the eventual coming of the Antichrist and his False Prophet, who will unite the world in a last desperate bid to prevent Christ's return and the setting up of God's Kingdom on earth. But as Daniel said so many years ago concerning King Nebuchadnezzar's dream of the coming Kingdom, the dream is certain and the interpretation sure (Daniel 2:45). Jesus Christ is coming back to set up His Kingdom, and He will reign from "sea to sea, and from the river unto the ends of the earth", Psalm 72:8. If Jesus Christ came back today, would you be ready? Are your sins forgiven through faith in His atoning death on the cross of Calvary? The nail prints are the proof of His love for you. Trust in Him for salvation today.

A row has developed over recent comments made by a Democratic Unionist Party member, who called Pope Ratzinger the Antichrist on a radio programme, and said he would be doing his utmost to ensure a planned visit by the Supreme Pontiff to Northern Ireland does not go ahead as planned. Wallace Thompson, an advisor to Enterprise Minister Nigel Dodds, has stated he was against rosary beads being sold in Anglican St. Patrick's Cathedral in Dublin. Responding to callers questions on his remarks, he made clear his opposition to the Catholic teaching of transubstantiation, in which the eucharist and wine are said to become the physical flesh and blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. Thompson said he was stating personal opinion, and that he was speaking in the capacity of secretary of the Evangelical Protestant Society.

Quote: ""The Pope is the Anti-christ... a lot of Protestants probably might not hold [that view] but it is still enshrined in the standards," he said. "It is a strong statement to make but in expressing those views I am not conflicting with the main teachings of the main churches."

Unless you come from Europe, it can be quite difficult to understand the conflict that has gone on between Roman Catholicism and Protestantism over the years. The Roman Catholic Church has done much to suppress the Gospel and persecute God's people over the past 400 years. Many men devoted their lives to the translation of the Scriptures into our own language, and many of them often paid the ultimate price. If it wasn't for men like John Wycliffe and William Tyndale, many of us would never have had the opportunity to hear the Gospel and be saved. Many Christian communities fled mainland Europe due to persecution from the Roman Catholic Church. They settled in England, Ireland and some went as far as America. My own family name can be traced back to such a group, the Huguenots, who fled France after the revocation of the Edict of Nantes. But it isn't just the Roman Catholic Church that is to be blamed. The Church of England has also done much to suppress the Gospel and persecute God's people. At one time Christians could find themselves facing arrest and jail, if their gathering wasn't sanctioned by the official church. Today things are much different, at least in this country. We have laws that protect our freedom to worship, although there are those that would seek to do away with them. But the Gospel will be preached unto the ends of the earth, the Lord promised that.

When it comes to the teaching of the Roman Catholic Church, that the Pope is the representative of Jesus Christ on earth, there is no doubt that he is 'an' antichrist. For the word 'anti' can mean 'in place of', and as 'Vicar of Christ' he is claiming to stand in place of Christ. But the Scriptures teach us that we should call no man "Father", for we have one Father who is in Heaven (Matthew 23:9). And according to Scripture, Jesus Christ is the head of the body, the Church (Colossians 1:18). The Pope may also be 'antichrist', meaning 'opposed to Christ', for as representative of the Roman Catholic Church, he is accountable for how his denomination stands in relation to the person of Jesus Christ. The Bible teaches us that the "spirit of antichrist" is already in the world, and so it should be no surprise that we should have such churches that are operating against the will of God and the spread of the Gospel (1st John 4:3).  

I do not believe the Pope is 'the' Antichrist, the individual mentioned in the Bible. But it is possible that the Vatican system may play a big part in end time prophecy, for many prophecy scholars see a direct link between the Roman Catholic Church, which rides the beast of Europe, and the harlot of Revelation 17. Many Catholics also believe that the 'last Pope' could be an 'anti-Pope', who will be inspired by Satan and will herald in the tribulation period. A Catholic Bishop who lived in my home town of Bangor, Bishop Malachy, is said to have prophesied that either this present Pope or the next could be the last Pope. Of the last Pope, Malachy said, "In extreme persecution, the seat of the Holy Roman Church will be occupied by Peter the Roman, who will feed the sheep through many tribulations, at the term of which the city of seven hills will be destroyed, and the formidable Judge will judge his people. The End". Revelation 17 prophesies of the destruction of the city of seven hills, on which the harlot sits. Rome has been known throughout history as the city which sits on seven hills.

The Bible states that this false religious system that will be judged by God is known as the "Mother of Harlots", Revelation 17:5. So we can see that this false religious system is the mother of other false religious systems. And unfortunately many of the churches which were formed following the reformation have done worse than the system they came out of. For they had light, but they have chosen to reject it, and are seeking once again to bring themselves into spiritual bondage. Which brings me to this next article. The largely Protestant World Council of Churches has said that by the middle of this century, they hope that all denominations will have communion with each other, healing a rift that has divided Christendom for some 400 years. Rev. Dr. Samuel Kobia made the comments following a private audience with Pope Ratzinger, and is expected to join with the leaders of other denominations for an ecumenical prayer service. 

Quote: "Kobia said he hoped the churches would reach such unity by mid-century "that Christians everywhere, regardless of their confessional affiliations, can pray and worship together and feel welcome to share in the Lord's Table at every church." "By this example, the church can help humanity to overcome all divisions and people of the world be able to live together in peace and harmony regardless of their backgrounds and identities," he said. Benedict made no mention of Kobia's call during their meeting and stuck to his usual statement of hope that Christian unity "will be ever more fully realised in our time."

As we can see, the harlot's children are once again seeking to be reunited with their mother church. And I believe that through this reunification, God will be able to judge this whole satanic system. There is only one true Church. It's not the Roman Catholic Church. It's not the Church of England. It's not even my own church. The true Church is comprised of all those who have trusted in Jesus Christ for salvation. Trust in Him for salvation today.

This link from my friend Olli-Pekka. The United Kingdom's Prince Charles is to appear at the World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi next month, in a new drive to promote renewable sources of energy. But following recent criticism of pop-stars, Al "Big Foot" Gore (his carbon footprint) and even the Prince himself, all of whom hired private jets to fly around the world promoting the religion of global warming, Prince Charles will not be attending the summit in person. But a holographic image of him will attend the summit, saving around 15 tonnes of carbon emissions and hopefully proving the point that Prince Charles practices what he preaches.

It will be transformed into a hologram-style image using technology based on a Victorian music-hall technique called "ghosting". A video projector will beam an image of the Prince on to the floor. It is then reflected up on to a paper-thin sheet of foil to create an optical illusion that makes him appear as a 3-D image on stage. Former US Vice-President Al Gore used similar technology to appear as a hologram at Wembley Stadium at the beginning of the Live Earth concerts earlier this year.

Following the reformation, the British monarchy adopted the title "Defender of the Faith", seemingly to express their opposition to Popish rule over England. But the title was originally given to King Henry VIII by the Pope himself for the king's treatise against the reformer Martin Luther. Prince Charles has made it clear that if he is ever crowned King of England, he wants to be known as "Defender of Faiths" - plural. For Prince Charles is heavily into the New Age movement, and this is also the reason for his strong support of conservationalism. In Brazil they have made a bronze image of a god-like Prince Charles, complete with angelic wings and loin-cloth, subtitled "Saviour of the World". Prince Charles also claims to be of the bloodline of Jesus Christ, and the most direct descendant of the ancient King of the Holy Roman Empire, Charlemagne. It was this claim that led him to submit a request to the European Commission to be crowned King of Europe, but his request was turned down.

I personally doubt whether Prince Charles will be the Antichrist, but there is no doubt he may be an antichrist. News about holographic images of world leaders reminds us of that passage in the book of Revelation, where the false prophet will manufacture an image of the Antichrist. His image will have the power of speech and appear to have some sort of artificial intelligence. Of course a hologram can't kill you, and so perhaps this image would need to be either robotic in nature, or at least be demonically controlled.

Revelation 13:14-15
And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live. And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.

Prince Charles claims to be of the bloodline of Jesus Christ. We know that can't be possible. But praise God we can claim something more infinitely precious. We are bought by His blood (Revelation 5:9). Have you been washed in the blood of the Lamb? Trust in Him for salvation today.
