Bishops in the Church of England have gone on record stating their belief that recent storms in the United Kingdom, which left several dead and displaced thousands, are a direct result of the country's disobedience to God's laws. The Bishop of Carlisle - the Right Reverend Graham Dow, said that the world was now "reaping the consequences of its moral degradation", and urged people to respond to the floods by turning away from their lifestyle of greed. The Bishops expressed their sympathy to the innocent people that have been caught up in the disaster in the United Kingdom, but said that the problem with "environmental judgement is that it is indiscriminate". They did not rule out environmental damage caused to the planet as part of the reason for the floods, but said that God permitted these natural disasters to happen in order to bring the nations to repentance. Quote: ""We are in serious moral trouble because every type of lifestyle is now regarded as legitimate," he said. "In the Bible, institutional power is referred to as 'the beast', which sets itself up to control people and their morals. Our government has been playing the role of God in saying that people are free to act as they want," he said, adding that the introduction of recent pro-gay laws highlighted its determination to undermine marriage. "The sexual orientation regulations [which give greater rights to gays] are part of a general scene of permissiveness. We are in a situation where we are liable for God's judgment, which is intended to call us to repentance." I find this news refreshing, and surprising coming from the Church of England. The standard response of most "apostate" churches has been to urge the governments to do more to tackle global warming, rather than accepting that God can and still does judge among the nations. Britain has been hit hard this past few weeks, suffering two attempted terrorist attacks by Islamic extremists, along with a deluge which has destroyed much property and claimed several lives. And there is no doubt, Britain is now reaping the consequences of its sins. It's also interesting that these Al-Qaeda attacks in Britain should come just days after former Prime Minister Tony Blair prepares to travel to the Middle East to work towards the division of God's land. I wonder if the Church of England will call on Tony Blair to repent of this sin, that the nation may be spared? As the Prime Minister said, what happens on the streets of Israel and Palestine does affect the streets of Britain. 2nd Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. Well a few of you found it hard to get used to the new layout, as I did myself. As my friend Ezekiel stated, the new site had lost its "punch", for it was not as easy to access the articles. So after much deliberations, I have managed to redesign the new website to look the same as the old website. I have created a new toolbar at the top of the screen with all the usual articles linked to it. I have removed the latest news and popular news plugins. I have also copied and pasted the texts of all articles into the introduction text box, which means you will be able to read an article on the front page without having to click on it. If you click on the title of an article, you can still print and email it as usual. The only main difference is old articles now go into the archive in the top right corner of the screen, instead of on a bar below the main article links. So hopefully we should get the benefits of the new site (news emails, easy submission of articles, automatic RSS feed, etc), with the simple layout of the old site. Thanks. |

Ian Paisley Junior, son of Ian Paisley, Moderator of the Free Presbyterian Church in Northern Ireland, and now Northern Ireland's First Minister, is being pressed to apologize over his controversial remarks regarding his personal beliefs on homosexuality. Ian Paisley made the comments during an interview with a magazine journalist, in which he stated, "I am pretty repulsed by gay and lesbianism. I think it is wrong... I think that those people harm themselves and - without caring about it - harm society. That doesn't mean to say that I hate them. I mean, I hate what they do". His comments were immediately condemned by Sinn Fein's Martin McGuinness, the Deputy First Minister, who stated that Ian's comments contradict what his office has sworn to uphold, the rights of minorities. Now Ian Paisley is being pressed to apologize to the homosexual community for his "crass" comments, or resign his post as a junior minister. Quote: "In a hard-hitting editorial entitled "Apologise or resign", The Gazette regretted that Mr Paisley had not yet issued an apology for his remarks despite repeated calls to do so. "His comments are a complete disgrace to the Stormont administration and reflect sheer crassness," the editorial stated. "Not only should Mr Paisley apologise but, if he cannot, he should resign as a junior minister in the Office of the First and Deputy First Minister, the department which is charged with promoting equality in Northern Ireland," it added. In January of this year, the European Union and the Blair government made it a criminal offence to "discriminate" against people of a different sexual orientation. The law was opposed by many Christian organizations on the grounds that it unfairly discriminates against those who believe homosexuality is immoral. Catholic adoption agencies warned the government they would be forced to close their premises, rather than permit children to be placed with gay couples. Through this law, Christians could end up in court for turning away homosexual and lesbian couples wanting to stay in their accommodation. Christian bookshops could also be fined if homosexuals feel intimidated by literature condemning their lifestyle. And now a minister in the government is facing calls for his resignation, over comments he made about his own personal beliefs on homosexuality. If Ian Paisley has to resign because of what he believes, then what hope do the rest of us have? Of course Satan's aim through this is to stamp out Christianity completely. "You can be a Christian, as long as you don't take your beliefs too seriously or offend anybody". Makes me wonder about what men thought of the Lord Jesus Christ and the Apostles. The Lord Jesus offended plenty of people. I mean, they tried to stone Him on several occasions, and then He went to the cross. And look at all the beatings Paul took. As the Lord said of Paul, "I will show him how great things he must suffer for My Name's sake", Acts 9:16. I think if there was ever a time when Christians ought to stand up for the truth, it would be now. I just hope that the Lord gives me help to do that. Mark 8:38 Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels. The armed wing of the Hamas, the Izz a-Din al-Qassam Brigades, has threatened once again to fight against any international peacekeeping force that would be stationed in the Gaza Strip. The terrorist organization took control of Gaza two weeks ago, following weeks of clashes with Palestinian Authority President Abbas' Fatah organization. The European Union has proposed sending a multinational force to Gaza, similar to that stationed in southern Lebanon, in order to help bring about a lasting peace in the region. Israel was originally opposed to such a plan, but the situation in Gaza is now well beyond the control of both Prime Minister Olmert and President Abbas. Israel now regards Gaza as an enemy state, and Abbas does not have the political or military authority to oust the Hamas leadership. Last month Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni stated that the Israeli Foreign Ministry was preparing to endorse a plan that would see international peacekeepers deployed along the Philadelphi corridor with Egypt. Solana has stated that the Egyptians will not be too happy about an international force on their border, but with the situation in Gaza so dire they may not have an alternative. The Hamas terrorist organization has stated they are opposed to the plan, and would "regard any foreign force as an occupying force". Quote: "Referring to Arab entities in support of the move, and especially Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, a Hamas spokesperson said: "Only those helpless ones, who take orders from external elements, support the deployment of a multinational force (in Gaza)." "They are running and crying for the help of international forces to carry out their disgraceful plan. And this is after the Palestinian people rejected the plan and threw its representatives into the dumpster of history," Hamas representatives said. In other news, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair has taken up his new role as Special Envoy to the Middle East this week. Initially he had announced he would be working towards the establishment of a "two-state solution" between Israel and the Palestinians, but as was reported recently there were a few who objected to his new role. Quote: "On the day of his appointment, he told Parliament his "absolute priority" would be to "give effect" to a "two-state solution, which means a state of Israel that is secure and confident of its security and a Palestinian state that is viable, not merely in terms of its territory, but in terms of its institutions". Then he told the Northern Echo newspaper that his "huge challenge" was to "prepare the ground for a negotiated settlement". The Bush administration quickly contradicted Mr Blair's sweeping definition of his role. Tom Casey, the State Department's deputy spokesman, made it clear that negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians will be handled by Condoleezza Rice, the US Secretary of State. Javier Solana, the High Representative for the European Common, Foreign and Security Policy, feared that Tony Blair might detract from his own efforts in the Middle East peace process. And it seems that Solana has got his way. Tony Blair, who as Prime Minister, had pressed for a lesser role for the European Foreign Minister in the new EU Constitution, has now had his own role in the Middle East reduced by the future EU Foreign Minister himself. This link from my friend Darrell... Quote: "Madrid - Middle East quartet envoy Tony Blair will not be charged with mediating in the Middle East conflict, but with channelling aid towards the construction of a Palestinian state, European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana was Friday quoted as saying. Former British Premier Blair, whose appointment has been met with scepticism in parts of the region, will not conduct a peace process, the Spanish daily El Pais quoted Solana as saying in Lisbon. The Bible makes it clear that it is not possible to know who the Antichrist will be until his revelation, which occurs after the Church is taken home according to 2nd Thessalonians 2:6-8. But what we can see is that the situation in the Middle East is ripening for the time when the Antichrist will come and strengthen the peace agreement between the two peoples. The question remains, are you ready for when Christ comes to take home His bride? Or like the five foolish virgins, will you find yourself locked out of heaven? Luke 13:25 When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are: Source YNet News, Telegraph, Earth Times |
