You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains. (Matthew 24:6-8; Mark 13:7-8 NIV).
Then he said to them: "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven." (Luke 21:10-11 NIV). But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God -- having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them. (2 Timothy 3:1-5 NIV). But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare. (2 Peter 3:10 NIV). "What can we expect in the End Times" is the same question the disciples asked Jesus in Matthew 24. This chapter, in His words, tells us what signs and conditions of the world we can expect as End Times approach. They are fulfillment of Old Testament prophecies as well as what Christ spoke to His students.
The first thing to clarify is that End Times (or latter days) does not mean the world will blow up into non-existence as is often misunderstood. It does mean that the world will not be as we know it now. The most important thing we can expect is that Jesus will return to earth to establish a New Kingdom. In it His faithful and righteous followers are rewarded with eternal life (Daniel 7:27 and Matthew 24:12-13).
Prior to Messiah's return, the world will be in severe chaos and devastation due to non-repentant sin. Today we continually see drastic increases in natural disasters, famines, and pockets of wars spreading across the globe. People are crying for peace while iniquities abound. These signs will be perpetually on the increase until the time that Christ returns for the final battle known as Armageddon - which Christ will win. Revelation 19:14-16 says that Jesus with His saints will be victorious over the devil, anti-Christ and the wicked.
It is key to know that regardless of one's belief system or their lack of one, the Lord says in Romans 14:11 "It is written: 'As surely as I live,' says the Lord, "every knee will bow before me; every tongue will confess to God." The next verse points out that "each of us will give an account of himself to God."
End Times events are foretold by way of prophecies, warnings and promises in both Old and New Testaments. Many want to zero in on the resulting, inevitable, consequences of sin and unbelief stated in the warnings. However, they neglect to revel in the glory and eternal blessings for all Christ's faithful, as told in the promises. All have opportunity to choose their path. We can expect to see both fulfilled (Matthew 25:31-46). For all the prophecies, we also read to expect the unexpected. "Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour" (Matthew 25:13). The plea is to be ready and watchful since no one can predict the exact day or hour of Jesus' return. |

Full article link The following article by Yossi Leshem of the International Center for the Study of Bird Migration in Tel Aviv tells us: how Israel is one of the most important migration highways in the world for migrating birds. The birds migrate twice yearly during spring and autumn. Spring is the time of Pesach "Passover" and Autumn is the time of Succot "Tabernacles" According to the Bible the hordes of Gog will be defeated on the mountains of Israel and become The lowest spot on Earth will turn into one of the most musical spots on Earth this month, when an Israeli initiative brings together Grammy Award-winning world music artist Paul Winter and musicians from 22 different countries in an attempt to integrate environmental awareness and musical multi-culturalism.
Winter will debut a new composition 'Flyways' at Nahal Zohar at the Dead Sea along the Great Rift Valley (GRV) - a work inspired by the 500 million birds that use the Valley route to migrate twice a year from Europe to Asia. The celebration is part of an event entitled 'A Musical Celebration of Birds and People,' part of a campaign by the Israeli organizers to declare the Great Rift Valley a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with the aim of protecting the cultures and the nature along its path.
The Great Rift Valley is a series of geological rifts stretching 4,000 miles, from southern Turkey, running through Syria and Lebanon, along the Dead Sea, Gulf of Eilat and the Red Sea until Kenya at which point it splits into two branches, finally ending in Zimbabwe.
According to Yossi Leshem of the International Center for the Study of Bird Migration at Latrun near Tel Aviv, some 500 million birds representing 300 species, including storks, pelicans, lesser-spotted eagles, lesser kestrels, honey buzzards and many others, migrate across Israel's skies twice a year in the autumn and spring. Some even stick around Israel for the winter in search of good food (fish ponds) and weather (Eilat). "This is one of the most important migration highways in the world," he told ISRAEL21c. "And we have to insure that it remains a natural habitat for this phenomenon." Compare this to what the Word of God says: Ezekiel 39:1-5 Therefore, thou son of man, prophesy against Gog, and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal: And I will turn thee back, and leave but the sixth part of thee, and will cause thee to come up from the north parts, and will bring thee upon the mountains of Israel: And I will smite thy bow out of thy left hand, and will cause thine arrows to fall out of thy right hand. Thou shalt fall upon the mountains of Israel, thou, and all thy bands, and the people that is with thee: I will give thee unto the ravenous birds of every sort, and to the beasts of the field to be devoured. Thou shalt fall upon the open field: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD. Ezekiel 39:17-20 And, thou son of man, thus saith the Lord GOD; Speak unto every feathered fowl, and to every beast of the field, Assemble yourselves, and come; gather yourselves on every side to my sacrifice that I do sacrifice for you, even a great sacrifice upon the mountains of Israel, that ye may eat flesh, and drink blood. Ye shall eat the flesh of the mighty, and drink the blood of the princes of the earth, of rams, of lambs, and of goats, of bullocks, all of them fatlings of Bashan (Golan Hights). And ye shall eat fat till ye be full, and drink blood till ye be drunken, of my sacrifice which I have sacrificed for you. Thus ye shall be filled at my table with horses and chariots, with mighty men, and with all men of war, saith the Lord GOD. |

I know this is a strange article and I didn't really know what category to put it under. But, I wanted to post this because this shows how determined these countries are to get rid of any type of "invasion". Or, maybe it's paranoia. I do know that some countries will take drastic measures to "spy" but like the article says "The use of rodents has not been documented in the past." It's hard to believe that a country would use "spying" squirrels but at the same time it's hard to believe that another country would find a group of squirrels to be "spies". But, I guess there is a first to everything. Whatever the reason for this latest news, at least maybe during these trying times an article like this can make someone smile. |
